Why did you give the last of your food to that poorly disguised mimic? You were finally at peace with letting go, but now this odd thing won’t leave you alone and is even turning itself into various items in an attempt to aid you.
#sobbing#this is beautiful#protect these two at all costs#also. couldn't agree more on that 'perfect enough' statement

Some Autolycus sketches🐺

This was originally supposed to be Diomedes, but when I drew the first sketch it just wasn't him and so I rolled with that XD
(For those, who don't know, he's Odysseus's grandfather and son of Hermes)

Odyssey Ban
Okay, the research led me to a rabbit hole and....I'm tired fam, real tired. Why can't be just move on, the allegations in favour for the ban are absurd and moreover, idiotic at best these are some screenshots that i took from this source, mind you, is a foul as the rest https://medium.com/@lenhardt_stevens/a-case-to-stop-teaching-the-odyssey-456d58ea66a
Mind you, have you read the Odyssey!? Can we just, not put modern lenses on tales of others cultures? can we just have the common sense that the Odyssey female characters had agency? that masculinity is not portrayed as macho men? how many times we read Odysseus, crying? lots and lots. and is not Penelope a badass for having governed Ithaka for a whopping, TWENTY years, *alone*, while raising Telemachus in palace? XENOPHOBIA!? Guys, Odysseus finds inhuman beings, deities and so on, and the Suitors don't hate beggar Odysseus unanimesly, no, they don't. But then again of course there is class distinction and human emotions are wrong? jealousy?pettiness? aren't those human and real flaws? manipulation to survive is denouncable? have you just read Madelline's Circe and passed your script through a screen of anti.classicists?
#is this for real now?#so. instead of properly reading the book for one#and instead of dedicating some time to break down the 'problems' of the story for kids#make it an opportunity to discuss right from wrong with the class and maybe touch on the different views of different eras#they decided to just ban it???#what's next? are they going to allow only super happy fairytales with saintly heroes and despicable villains with no complexity at all?#it that where this is going?#by this kind of logic they would need to ban the bible too#just imagine how that one's gonna go xd#seriously though. this is so absurd...#yes. there are some problems we would see in the story nowadays but the odyssey was never meant as a book teaching morals#*it's a story*#a fascinating story with a lot of complexity#and it's worth learning and discussing#just take what you see as the 'bad idea' and discuss *why*#*teach* kids to analyse these things and *think*#instead of just banning anything and everything...
