Unpopular opinion: I don't hate Tamlin.

Everytime I roll my dash I see ‘tamlin the tool’ and yes, he was a tool for Feyre, but I can’t see him like that. He made several mistakes along the books, he literally watched the woman he loved (because, it’s undeniable, he loved her) fade away and did nothing, but Lucien watched as well and I don’t see much hate on him about that.

Above everything, Tamlin was lonely. He lost everyone he cared about and had to figure out how to be a high lord, how to rule an entire court, just as Rhysand did, but the difference was that Rhysand wasn’t alone. Rhys had Mor and Cassian and Azriel, Rhysand had Amren. Rhys said himself that if he hadn’t met her, his power would have drove him mad long ago. Can you imagine how consumed he would be not only by his power, but by sorrow and loneliness and dread?

I will never stand by Tamlin’s side concerning Feyre. Rhys was and is the best for her, but I can’t see bad intention on Tamlin’s actions. He had lost everyone, and finally, after centuries, he finds someone he cares about and he is so afraid of losing her, of not being able to protect her, of failing again; he’s torn by grief and fear and solitude.

In some levels, I understand Tamlin. I wish he had someone to tell him – to show him, how love can be freedom and kindness and comfort, not only blind protection and fear of loss. 

Plus, I think he has a good heart, because, when it mattered, he saved Rhysand’s life, even knowing he would possible be giving part of his own power to him; he got vital information from Hybern and dragged Beron and his army to the battlefield; he sent that spring wind that allowed Feyre to fly when she saved Elain. He made bad calls, yes, but all of them had, including Feyre herself, so, in general, I want Tamlin to learn how to love instead of posses.

If Gambit were around to see Rogue go on a rampage in response to his death, he would’ve fallen more in love with her.
