good question! honestly, i can't imagine either of them being a direct equivalent of either ashley or andrew, because they have such a different dynamic compared to the graves twins (although i did settle on matthew being the one with the "trinket")

but, i could see how alfred might be the "ashley" of the two, in the sense that he's more openly unstable, constantly egging matthew on, while matthew is the "andy" because on the surface, he appears nice, reserved and polite, but is actually just putting up a front and is painstakingly attracted to alfred but also terrified of admitting it to himself, whereas alfred constantly teases him without realizing he's poking a sleeping bear

... in hindsight, perhaps it'd make more sense for alfred to be the trinket's owner, but, oh well
