Death and the Queen was p good iirc! Also I heard the 11th Doctor audio adventures were good too! But tbh Big Finish is less about NuWho (and even so, it’s more Torchwood and Unit orientated) and more about ClassicWho.
To spread some positivity, I will advertise a Doctor Who audio all of you should listen to. I deliberated for a bit but if you really want to have a feel of the quality of early Big Finish, please have a listen to the 8th Doctor audio story of The Chimes Of Midnight (MR #27).
One of the greatest Doctor Who stories and I say this as someone who does struggle to listen to audio (so when the BF stories hit I mean they HIT). It’s a mystery that’s basically dependent on a series of audio cues (which means any visual adaptation will be different) and is one of the most concise Doctor Who stories. I think it works better if you start from the top for 8th and listen to a few audios but even as a beginner audio I still say it comes highly recommended

The most awful thing about this show is how is how it gets anyone who comes too close to it. Like this show should rightfully not be on my mind at all but unfortunately…it rly does have something for everyone. Like I can’t leave so ofc I’m going to complain!!! It’s my right as a captive!!!
"why are you still watching doctor who if you don't like it?" because i love doctor who? because i would really like to see it do interesting things? i can be critical of it and enjoy it!
#for me it’s the capaldi era being in my aesthetic sensibilities#doctor who#for others#it can be anything#like#neurodivergent people are the number one victim here#followed by the LGBT…#true fans at least#telling me to leave as if I wanted this life be fr rn#fake fans leave when they think their show is getting bad#real fans r locked in with no chance of escape#slash j obv#but yeah

Posted it elsewhere but I thought to myself to also post it on my main blog as a way to remember what my current top 20 is for Doctor Who (ignore the fact that I’m cheating by counting certain 2 parters as singular parts, I promise it’s just because I’m lazy)
It’s a good way to archive what my thoughts were! Also I plan on writing in-depth ob at least each story here LMAO
I’ve yet to see:
1. Torchwood
2. Most of 1st, 3rd, 4th
3. Some of 2nd
4. A lot of Big Finish Main Range + Other Audios
5. Lots of novels
6. I’ve yet to rewatch Series 1

A bit sad that Omega didn’t get more meat in the finale because Omega really is to me, and relative to NuWho, what should be a final final boss. Like he was literally cast off to the damn antimatter dimension by 5th. Like we should have gotten Zagreus 2 where the narrative goes into absolute nightmare, surreal batshit territory to reflect the Lovecraftian horror Omega has become. But that didn’t happen 💔

i dunno, i think it's possible to acknowledge that steven moffat's era of doctor who did have issues with misogyny because of course it fucking did, he's a cis middle-aged white guy who primarily hired cis middle-aged white guys as writers, whilst also acknowledging that the guy is a good writer who does generally try his best

okay. i need people to understand the main issue here. ncuti gatwa is the first (full time) black doctor. his entrance was overshadowed by david tennant. his entire run has been the least watched run, many of you admit you did not watch his era. now, after only 16 episodes and a few specials he has regenerated and all people are talking about is billie piper. do you really not see the issue at all? and don't even get me started on what they did to belinda! i'm so BOGGLED by the amount of disrespect thrown at fifteen. he barely got to BE HIS OWN CHARACTER. we barely know him and he's gone. unreal.

wait actually the current episode really is a natural successor to the mark of the rani. it's got the rani. it's got unnecessary fanwank through the roof. it's got three whole time lords. it's got politics that make me want to bang my head against the wall. welcome back mid 80s doctor who
