nothing more humbling than being like 'why do i like waka so much i mean sure he's cute but this is kind of out of character for me' and then thinking about it a little more and seeing his traits in every boy i like

I know I say this all the time but I Genuinely can't believe samurai isn't more popular. like... its been going on for four years... its written by a guy who's had two other SJ series... its gotten cover art on SJ so many times... cloverworks came in and knocked the anime out of the park. what happened to the sakuga likers. what happened to everyone meming on episode 1 cliff scene. like it's just so strange Where Is Everyone

1200 words of Another Effing Wip but this time I guess it will be some kind of longfic (scary) my guess is it would end up being like 20k words. Horrifying. Also this makes no sense bc I jumped to the middle but what if I stole the basic tenets of cor@law backstory and Takauji was weird and evil and shige was like I have to save the young lord from him at all costs. Whatever just take itttttttt throws it to the wolves
Yorishige felt his approach well before he could hear the footsteps. A violent chill crawled up his spine, like a beast or an animal clawing its way up his back. He stiffened, finding himself frozen, facing away from the doorway.
A large shadow filled the room as the man blocked the afternoon sun with his body. Yorishige felt the oppressing darkness swirl around him, making him almost sick as the heaviness of Ashikaga Takauji's presence threatened to overwhelm him.
“Yorishige! Are you busy? Walk with me.”
Takauji's cheerful voice sent him into a panic. Fighting with every pulse of his synapses that begged him to run, run as far away as possible, Yorishige cracked a terrified smile and turned to face him, face scrunched up into a grin so wide that his eyes were almost closed.
“Yes, my lord, at once,” he agreed, taking one step forward. His knees nearly gave out.
Don't go to him. Don't follow him.
Ah, but what choice was there? Yorishige continued to grin. Takauji grinned back, his teeth bright and white and large, too large for his mouth, too many of them, everywhere, all across his face. And then, again, he was just a handsome and average man, eying Yorishige with a thin smile that felt like a death sentence. He motioned with his head towards the mountains.
“Let's take a walk.”
“Yes, let's.”
Takauji's arm snuck its way around Yorishige's shoulders as he exited the room, pulling him closer, forcing the two to walk in step. But his eyes remained trained forward on nothing at all, something only he could see. When he spoke, his voice was light and pleasing to the ear, and it made Yorishige smile and his stomach turn in equal measure.
“You've been spending a lot of time with the boy lately, Yorishige,” said Takauji. “You don't have to waste your time with him. I've got Sadamune teaching him archery, and Moronao is training him on how to properly serve me my meals. I even plan on teaching him how to perform for me when he's a bit older. We'll have that royal laziness beaten out of him in no time!”
Here, he laughed. And Yorishige laughed, too, because somehow when Ashikaga Takauji said something, it was always funny. He felt sick to his stomach as he laughed, the sunniness of Takauji's mirth warming him up from the inside against his will.
“So, just leave it to us. He's got plenty of things to be working on already.”
“I only thought it right to teach him about all angles of life, Takauji-sama,” said Yorishige, his cheeks aching from smiling. It hurt, but he could not stop. “He's a very talented boy. He learns quickly. And I thought it might suit your tastes if he were knowledgeable about the gods, so that you might converse with him at your leisure.”
“What sort do you take me for?” Takauji asked him, with a twinkle in his eye that let Yorishige know to a painful degree that he was exactly that sort indeed. “I've plenty of escorts already. He doesn't need to amuse me in that way. Really, I don't even know why I keep him around... but I can't stand to get rid of him! He's like a tick, Yorishige. Even though I should have pulled him out by now, he still…”
Takauji stopped walking, and Yorishige fell still beside him. He watched with unease as the man gazed out fondly over the Suwa landscape, as if he were razing the verdant trees and defiling the fertile land with only his eyes.
“He's still in there,” Takauji said softly. He scratched idly at the crook of his left arm. “Like a tick. I've pulled out the body, but the head's still there.”
The smile suddenly fell from Yorishige's face. He hesitantly touched his cheek with one hand. “I… forgive me, my lord. I don't quite understand.”
“He's still in there, Yorishige,” said Takauji again, his voice growing more strained. He scratched at his arm with more fervor. “I can't get rid of him. It should be easy. He should be dead, dead like the rest of them. Why isn't he?”
Yorishige stared at Takauji's broad back. He could feel something cracking inside, a low anger and a confusion that followed the man everywhere he went, even when he was not aware of it.
“You chose not to kill him,” Yorishige said, careful with his choice of words. “You chose that.”
“Why did I choose that? That doesn't make any sense.”
Yorishige glanced down. A drop of red appeared on the ground beneath Takauji's left arm.
He slowly turned around, and Yorishige grit his teeth, clenching his jaw. Takauji had tears in his eyes, a bubble of snot forming in his nose. He'd scratched his arm clean through the skin, shreds clinging underneath his fingernails as fresh blood ran down his forearm.
“Hey, Yorishige,” Takauji begged him, stepping forward. “Why did I choose that, huh? Was it really my choice? Or is someone out there laughing at me?”
Yorishige took a careful step back. “It was your choice, of course,” he said, trying to keep his voice from trembling. “Ashikaga Takauji is destined for greatness. The world bows to him. What could a single boy do to change that?”
“Right… that's right,” Takauji agreed, even as more tears streamed down his cheeks. He sniffed loudly, wiping his nose on his bloody sleeve, leaving streaks of red behind. “That doesn't change anything. I'm keeping him alive for my own sake, right? Because it's funny.”
“It's quite funny, Takauji-sama,” Yorishige agreed, gently approaching him and placing a hand on his back. He fought back the unease that swept through his body at the contact.
“I killed his whole family, Yorishige,” Takauji said, and then barked out a single, sharp laugh. “And he doesn't know! He still follows me around like a little dog. He has no idea what I've done to him. A boy like that could never raise a hand against me.”
Yorishige took Takauji's right hand in his  own and wiped his fingertips free of blood as best as he could, staining the edges of his own sleeves. He plucked a large piece of skin free and let it flutter to the ground. “Indeed, what could cause such a thing?” he murmured, hoping to placate Takauji in his moment of weakness. “He is a very trusting boy. He would never dream that you had betrayed him in such a way.”
“No, never,” agreed Takauji, his voice faraway. “He would never think up such a betrayal on his own.”
He slowly turned to Yorishige, who hesitated before meeting his gaze.
“You're not speaking ill of me to the boy, are you?” asked Takauji. His expression was placid, unfeeling, unthinking, still tear-streaked and red-eyed.
Yorishige froze.
“Yorishige, surely you're not putting ideas in his head? That I've done something wrong? Because everything will be fine as long as he trusts me. But if someone starts feeding him reasons to stray away from me…”
“The boy doesn't care for me one bit,” Yorishige told him earnestly, and returned his attention to Takauji's bloody hand. “All I've tried to do is conjure within him an interest in the spirits, and he has spurned me. Children these days are more secular than ever… it will only get worse in the future, you know. I have seen it myself.”

aaaaaaaaaaaughh. waka topping shige and he wants to make sure it's really gentle and loving because he wants to show that he's taking their relationship very seriously...!! but once he gets himself situated and he's on top of shige he gets overwhelmed by how good and tight it feels and kind of turns into a menace >_>;; gets all woozy and clings to shige and just tries to pound into him as much as he can (even though its shallow and awkward) and he's kinda mumbling out apologies cus he knows he should try harder to be a good lover but it feels realllly good to just thrust his hips sooooo

shige showing so much worship and love to toki's body that it makes him turn beet red and beg him not to do such strange and debasing things but shige just wants to lavish every single point on his body with attention so bad that he can't accept his lord's sheepishness and self-consciousness

Consider: post-time skip toki teaching shige how to kiss
waaait,,,,, wait wait wait you might be on to something,,,, I have been wanting to write a timeskip yrwk fic for a while tbh. something about them meeting again (be it irl or via dream/vision etc. depending on what route i would go) and shige being so embarrassed and shy and nervous bc suddenly is lord is so handsome and capable and confident,,, I think it's so cute 😭 getting flustered because he's like w-well I'm still your elder i should be the one teaching you and waka is like ^_^ hehe. well let's be honest I've certainly got more experience than you do now unless you've spent this whole time sleeping around... and shige is so embarrassed he wants to curl up and die. waka being forward kills him instantly
