☢ ╼ There was only one regret Lucy had about moving into a small town in the middle of nowhere. Leaving her brother Norman still left an ache in her heart. But she could not look at her father after finding out the truth of their fortunes. She needed time to clear her head. To figure out who she was, when she wasn’t Daddy’s girl.

        School had been an absolute joy – the children seemed too eager to learn. Teaching felt more rewarding here than it did at high end private school she worked at prior. A job given to her through her father’s connections, without care of her own ability. The money had been tainted and the students entitled. For the first time in a while she felt as if her life had meaning.

      If only Lucy hadn’t skipped lunch to prepare for conferences. While her meetings with the parents went perfectly, she was starving, and it was late. The trip home was long and preparing food would take even more time. Thankfully her coworker recommended the local tavern. Which seemed surprisingly lively, as if almost half the town was there.

       Face faltered as she entered the establishment and saw no tabled available. Not to be deterred she made her way over to the bar. Though it wasn’t ideal, it would have to do. “Holy Moley.” Politely she ordered a whiskey neat and inquired for a menu. As she opened it, she accidentally elbowed the man next to her, “Oh, my apologies! It is a bit of a tight squeeze, but I promise not to take up much room….but if you are a regular…” A sweet smile played upon her lips, “Is there anything you would recommend?”
