I’m sorry ‘heart eyes’, you’re gorgeous, but I’ve decided it’s ‘what a barb!’ for me. Pen hides, masks, and code-switches all the time, but in this moment, she lets it all go and is 100% Whistledown. And what follows is the most sexually charged Polin moment of the first two seasons. It’s the best foreshadowing of what’s to come.

At any moment the soundtrack is going to drop, so I shouldn’t bother speculating anymore or raising my expectations, but I was just listening to Dreams and I mean c’maaaahhhhnnn! First of all, The Cranberries are Irish, so they should do it for Nic. Secondly, dreams are another theme of the season. Thirdly, the lyrics fit!

Should I not be hoping as much as I am for this? Am I being a delusional millennial? So many of the songs I want are from the 90s and early 2000s. But while the inclusion of older songs is not unprecedented, I should probably expect more contemporary stuff, right?

i think Daphne's suitors backed off because Anthony know their secret business/affairs and called them out on it. I remember in one of the balls a gentleman approached Daphne only for Anthony to remind him of his debts which made him back off. Kate on the other hand might have questioned some of the suitors and wanted to know their purpose of courting her sister, she still wasn't as upfront and most likely didn't know about the gentleman's lacks like Anthony. Which makes sense, Anthony lived in England his whole life and spends most of his time at the gentleman's club where he can hear about everyone's business unlike Kate who lived in India and as a woman won't know as much, and most likely even if she knows more still can't be as direct and impolite as Anthony because she doesn't have a title to protect her.

Good point- I forgot about Anthony knowing all those dudes’ secrets. So he legit was more of a threat than Kate.

When Anthony got in the way of Daphne’s suitors, Whistledown blamed it on Daphne (“it seems our diamond requires a closer inspection”), but when Kate got in the way of Edwina’s suitors, Whistledown blamed it on Kate (“any suitor wishing to get an audience with Miss Edwina Sharma must first tame the rather prickly spinster of a beast otherwise known as her sister”). Does anyone have a reasonable explanation for this double standard from LW? Genuinely asking. And I don’t mean to be a hater. Obviously I think our beloved LW is brilliant, but this does rattle me. Is it the case that she wasn’t aware of Anthony’s intrusion, but she was aware of Kate’s? That’s the only excuse I can come up with.

It’s also interesting that all of Daphne’s suitors were deterred while Edwina’s suitors were not. I wonder if that’s because of what LW wrote or because the suitors saw Anthony as a greater threat than they saw Kate as.

🤔 Don’t know if there are any answers to these questions or not, but if anyone has an idea, please let me know. And if I’ve just left you with more questions that you didn’t need to be thinking about, I’m sorry. 😬

I just woke up from a nap in which I dreamt about Bridgerton again, of course, and I swear I had another revelation about the meaning of colors and dresses, but when I woke up, I lost it. ☹️ I felt so sure of it while I was dreaming. It had to do with Pen and/or Eloise. I was so disappointed when I lost it. I can only hope it wasn’t an actual revelation. OR maybe it’ll come back to me. 🤷🤞

Good lord, I’m so entrenched in this.

Anyway, I did have another thought about dresses, specifically having to do with Cressida. I really like what we’ve seen so far because, for one thing, her new looks are so intriguing, but also I think they really speak to where she’s at.

Normally I would never imply that a woman should not take up more space, but on Cressida, considering she’s the popular mean girl, her gigantic embellishments read as inner turmoil. She is not someone who ever needed the encouragement to take up more space. She’s peacocking. She’s desperate. She’s kinda of giving Cruella de Vil. I can 100% see her trying to take credit for being Lady Whistledown, or at least just doing something really reckless.

Also, I read that Vogue interview with John Glaser, the costume designer, and, when asked what look of the season was the most challenging to make, he said this:

Ok but tell me how it is that I only went out for one hour today- driving for 20 minutes of that- and while I was driving, Yellow played on the radio. ?!? I dunno, I’m just sayin.

It’s Polin season, the sun is shining, the poppies are blooming. Maybe there’s a little magic in the air, ya know what I mean? 🩵💛💚🌞🌸🌻🌷🐝✨✨✨

GORGEOUS how the patterning on their clothes match and complement each other so well. It’s in the colors, the shapes, and the types of flora featured on their outfits. I don’t know much about fashion, and I’m sure there are actually knowledgeable people who’ve already observed this, but I dunno, this what I’m seeing.

Sometimes it’s obvious, like the white flowers on these outfits:

Definitely more subtle, but I’m pretty sure the shape of the leaves on his vest here match the shape of the very light seafoam green leaves layered onto her dress here:

He’s even matching her in 3x01 pre- glow-up. The colors of the flowers on his vest match those on her dress:

And I dunno, I might be reaching here, but I feel like there’s a similar striation effect to the lines on his vest and her dress in the hot air balloon episode:

Am I absolutely delusional about season 3 at this point? Yes. Are these two people looking positively magical and do I really just want showcase their magnificence as often as possible? Also yes. 100%.

The next 3 weeks, six days, 4 hours, and 38 minutes cannot pass quickly enough.

That boy is going to finally write his name on her dance card and Pen is going to hyperventilate and I will simply perish.

And I’m sure I’ll be happy with whatever songs they’ve chosen for the Polin dances, but a part of me holds onto a hope that they’ve chosen a cover of Perfect.

I’m not even a big Ed Sheeran fan. This song just describes Polin unbelievably well.

I wish I could tell Nicola Coughlan how much Penelope has helped me.

I’m a big girl. Always have been. My arms, chin, cheeks, tummy, legs, everything. My body has always been my biggest insecurity.

Having watched Bridgerton since it came out, I’ve always felt represented by Penelope. A wallflower, seen as a friend, not a lover. Gorgeous, but not seen as such.

This season, seeing her get her love story is going to be one of the most inspirational things. Seeing her be sought after, praised, adored, loved.

This look itself has already boosted my own confidence and the season isn’t even out yet.

She is gorgeous, she is stunning, she is brilliant, she is witty, she is beautiful. Every bit of her.

She doesn’t change (except her clothing and hairstyle, of course), but Colin’s view of her changes. HE realizes, HIS mind changes, NOT HER.

Her realizing that there is nothing wrong with her and that she is not the issue is going to be one of the most liberating things.

Representation matters.
