Just had a cup of Pukka’s “Relax” tea. It’s got chamomile, it’s got marshmallow root, it’s got two kinds of fennel, it’s got other stuff. It’s p decent.

Yesterday, I left my beautiful electric tea kettle on boil without any water in it, and it overheated. When I went to it for my next cup of tea, its lights were flashing, the buttons were non-responsive--it would not heat water for me. Dr. Google, always giving the worst case scenarios, told me my pot was basically dead forever. I scrolled through possible replacements on Amazon, but I didn’t order anything. Why would such a horrible person who broke her beautiful electric tea kettle deserve another one anyway? It was a sorrowful day.
But today is a jubilous one. At approximately 12:30pm PST, I plugged my catatonic kettle in and found that it had awoken! I feel that the Goddess must have felt my anguish and performed this miracle for me. I am forever greatful to Her. Delighted, I hugged my tea kettle, and I promised to never mistreat it again. Together, we made a cup of gynostemma tea, which tasted all the sweeter for the trials we had experienced.
The moral of this story: A kettle cannot boil if it has no water to boil.

Since I love, love, love Quik Tea’s Cardamom Chai, I’m trying their Lemongrass Chai. Pretty original mix, I’ve never seen or tasted a similar tea. Frankly, it tastes like the lemon heads candy. I’m feelin’ it though.

Really enjoying this chamomile citron tea from Tea Forte. It contains a nice note of citrus that is MISSING FROM THE FUCKING BAG OF ROTTEN BLOOD ORANGES I BOUGHT FROM TRADER JOE’S TODAY. THE SECTION THEY ARE IN IS NOT WELL LIT AND THE MESH BAGS OBSCURE THEIR CONTENTS. I TRUSTED JOE. But I guess I shouldn’t’ve. I often see food items well past their prime at Trader Joe’s, but I ignore them because Trader Joe’s is the cheapest store around. I will continue to shop at Trader Joe’s, but I am sending them NEGATIVE VIBES right now. 😒

Tea Forte’s Apricot Amaretto: It sort of tastes like apricot, I guess. It’s definitely a bit more savory, less sweet, and, obviously, more liquid-y than an apricot. I really appreciate the lack of hibiscus, which most tea companies turn to when making their fruit teas. The almond flavor is also pretty prevalent. It’s not a very remarkable tea, but it’s good enough. Also, don’t pay the instructions on the single steeps box any attention. You definitely do not need the entire packet for a single cup of tea. I find that a 5th to a 4th of the packet makes a good 2-3 cups of tea.
Rating: 7/10
Will I repurchase?: Not for Tea Forte’s high prices. Maybe if I had a coupon or a raise.

Had a thermos of Tazo’s Darjeeling early this morning, and I’m having a thermos of Numi’s Jasmine Green Tea right now. Daylight Savings fucked me up; I did not get a single second of sleep last night. Tea is getting me through my day.

March 11, 2016: Having one of my favorite teas, Quik Tea’s Cardamom Chai. The tea comes in a powdered form in 10 individual pouches. Add hot water, mix it until the powder dissolves, enjoy. Those who are lactose intolerant, beware: the pouches do contain dehydrated milk. Those of you who are not, I encourage you to try this unique and delicious tea. Yes, it’s a little on the pricey side, but I think it’s worth it. The company also sells a sweetened version, if you would prefer it.
Will I repurchase?: Of course!

March 9, 2016: Starting the day off with my favorite of the Downton Abbey teas from The Republic of Tea: “Premium Plum Pudding Black Tea.” I’ve never had plum pudding, so I have no idea whether or not this actually tastes like plum pudding. In my experience, dessert-inspired teas rarely taste like their inspiration. This tea is still pretty good anyway. If I can’t describe the flavor as plum pudding, I can say that its flavor is somewhat sweet yet also savory, with some fruity and floral notes. That sure sounds like it could be plum pudding. Maybe I should try plum pudding to compare. The flavor is very present without being overpowering, which I enjoyed very much. Let us also take a moment of silence for Downton Abbey. #RIPDowntonAbbey. These teas may not be available for much longer.
Would I buy again?: Yes!
