Thailand "Jin Xuan" Sticky Rice oolong tea
ive reviewed this one before a few yrs ago but it was really brief because its one of my go-to teas so i already know i like it but
smells strongly of sticky rice and tastes just so, good mix of that somewhat vegetal slightly umami almost vinegar-y flavor that sticky rice has and a creaminess that holds its own from start to finish that makes it completely delicious. i love it. not getting any toasted notes at all, aside from the minor ones coming from the byproduct of heating sticky rice leaves. instead it's a smooth/creamy background for the aromatic rice flavor that cuts through.
steeping overlong will however produce some unpleasant bitterness in the back of the throat/aftertaste and very slight astringency.
this tea is (or at least has been) extremely consistent between harvests which is nice and handle several steeps.

Three Moons Tea: Eros
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Description:
Bathed in the moon's glow, Eros, the winged messenger of love, weaves through celestial realms, casting enchanting arrows upon hearts. Sipping starlit tea, I'm drawn into his influence, where every sip feels like a sweet elixir of affection. In the cosmic embrace, love becomes a timeless journey, guided by Eros beneath the watchful eye of the moon, the silent witness to countless love stories written in the silver ink of the night.
Ingredients:
A sensual blend of Chocolate Black Tea, Damiana, and Rose Petals.
Review:
In case you couldn't have guessed from my other posts here, I consider myself witchy. When I saw that Three Moons had a blend dedicated to Eros (an underappreciated God in my humble opinion), I was captivated and knew I had to try it.
The tea is familiar, it reminds me of Witching Hour, but no anise flavor and amped up chocolate! The roses and cacao nibs are th3 strongest notes- a perfect pairing for those in a romantic (or perhaps spicy) mood.

Tea 1: Moonlight white 2021
Vegetal up front, dried apricot, earth and wet leaves, followed by a raisin sweetness. There is so astringency that mellows in later steeps.
Steeped for 1 min 2x and added 20 seconds for subsequent steeps.

Finally trying the Sangaria Royal Milk Tea
Tumblr media
Bought a can of the stuff a few days ago at the international market, while I was looking for nopales and mole sauce. I fell in love with royal milk tea after hearing about it from the anime adaptation of The Case Files of Jeweler Richard.
Tumblr media
Me being a bit of a tea aficionado I knew I had to try making it myself. I looked up a recipe online (I’ll post them both at the end) and I fell in love with this malty semi-sweet method of brewing black tea.
However, I think I may be more inclined to brewing royal milk tea for myself in the future. Despide the effort and time to make royal milk tea, you just can’t replicate the flavor of freshly brewed tea in a can. I’m still glad I got to try this pretty iconic tea.
Here are two recipes I recommend to try brewing royal milk tea yourself

September 18, 2022 – Sencha with lemon
Had a lovely and peaceful afternoon session with a sencha and lemon blend. I was really eager to try the new tea tray my aunt bought for me recently, and I'm particularly happy with my new set up. Although it's not the traditional way to brew it, I wanted to experiment with shorter (<1') infusions – it turned out really good, with really nice and strong umami notes.

Hello everyone, I'm excited to post my first actual tea and book review. It's been a stressful few weeks, and today was a much needed respite. So without further ado, I present my review.
Tea : hojicha green tea the brand is Yama moto Yama
Right off the bat this isn't my normal preference when it comes to tea. I normally prefer lighter fruitier teas, however I did quite enjoy the robust, nutty, almost savory flavor. This is definitely a tea you drink if you feel as though you've had too much sugar. I'd even dare to say that there's an almost seaweed aftertaste, but please don't let that put you off it's rather delicious. As an additional bonus it paired very nicely with today's book.
Book : the 13 1/2 lives of captain blue bear, by Walter Moers
Ok first of I don't even know where to start. This book was a roller-coaster from beginning to end. The world building is fantastic, the pacing is amazing and kept me entranced through out the entire book. It never felt like I was slogging through it. Our protagonist captain blue bear is, in fact, a large blue bear. The entire story takes place in the fictional continent of Zamonia. The story follows the first half of our main characters twenty seven lives. Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be a book pertaining to the last 13 1/2 lives. Worry not though this book has practically everything you could think of. Giant carnivorous plants, intelligent bacteria, a spiderwitch, and even the city of Atlantis. If you're a fantasy fan that enjoys a good romp through a hilarious and intriguing fantasy world then I'd definitely recommend this book.
Well I hope you all enjoyed my nice little ramblings about two things I enjoy, books and tea. If any of you have questions comments or suggestions I'd be happy to hear them all. Untill we meet again dear friends, happy reading!

good morning tumblrinas it’s tea time
i decided to be lazy today and do a good ol english breakfast. the vanilla latte of breakfast teas
Tumblr media
featuring my beloved goat mug from blue hen pottery
the tea was a gift from my mom, who got it for me because she thought i would like the tin. (she was right.) personally i don’t love the plastic sachets as i prefer my tea with as few microplastics as possible, but free tea is free tea and i’m hardly gonna waste it. besides, i’m so full of microplastics as it is a few more won’t hurt
Tumblr media
ignore the yogurt please i was having breakfast and was too lazy to move it out of the shot
this particular iteration of english breakfast is perfectly fine. a good solid “c’s get degrees” kinda guy. it is a warm liquid which tastes of english breakfast tea so i am satisfied, but i’m not wowed or amazed or even particularly excited. he’s not as flavourful a tea as other brands’ offerings but if you’re looking for a cute tin and a perfectly okay drink, maybe check him out. just yanno. maybe try to find it in teabags instead of plastic sachets.

🍵Akayona Tea Time🍵
Today, I'm reviewing: JAE-HA
Tumblr media
Ingredients:
Hojicha
Green Chai (cinnamon, ginger, cloves, orange, cardamom)
Vanilla Green
Tumblr media
Brewing Instructions:
1 tsp (5.96 g)
8 oz (236 ml)
180 °F (82 °C)
2 Minutes
Tumblr media
Results:
Light-green brew
Spiced aroma
Light earthy flavor with a spicey/sweet aftertaste
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts:
A really good, warming cup of tea. I like that the hojicha gives the cup an earthy feel, but the spice might have been a tad too overpowering. The vanilla didn't really shine through that much either. But if you want a spiced green tea, this is a good one. Think chai, but with green tea instead of black tea.
Changes I Would Make:
I get where the creator was going with hojicha (earthy feel like the ship), but I think a more green tea would have worked better. My thought would be to use either sencha or gyokuro, both very aromatic deep green teas from Japan. They taste more of the sea as well (less ship). The spice is cool, but I would change the blend ratio AND kick out the vanilla and add a jasmine. Jasmine and Jae-Ha just seem to fit together in my mind.
My Blend:
Sencha or Gyokuro (50%)
Jasmine Phoenix/Dragon Pearls (30%)
Spiced Green (20%)

Taiwan GABA oolong tea
this one was a sample gift with my order from alistair ( the tea vendor from whose website I purchase). I wouldn’t have ordered it because I already ordered/prefer the Taiwan amber GABA oolong but he sent this seeing id bought that one along with a couple other oolongs so he thought I’d like this one too. either way free tea is free tea and when that tea is good quality as it always is with this vendor i will not complain :)
steeped this multiple times and while steeping/through multiple steeps the buds unfold and expand a lot which surprised me. The smell is classically floral “tea” smell but very mild smelling in that. however i also get the smell of peach, too.
this tea immediately has a note of sweetness in flavor that instantly reminds me of rooibos, which is the only kind of tea I hate/avoid. but in this oolong it’s really nice. probably because for one, it’s the only unique flavor I can detect, and for two, it’s more like a hint one could miss and there’s a deepness that doesn’t become “rooibos-level deep” if that makes sense. there is also a taste throughout the steeps of…. milkiness, for lack of a better word, which is really nice actually. with more steeps, the sweetness does fade, while the milkiness becomes more prominent.
this tea and the sweetness is very delicate… not a tea that id ever put milk in because it’d drown everything out. there’s no outright astringency but there is the physical sensation of it on the tongue and inside of the mouth. it is not unpleasant though. the classic oolong taste is there, but really mildly similar to the sweetness flavor it could be easily missed, which I find wanting. it is delicate yes but a little too much so. I was hoping for something a little more robust. but it is growing on me which more steeps.
the effect of the tea is however quite nice… possibly better than other GABA teas I’ve tried, it actually does seem to have a smoothing/evening-out effect on my mood. (almost too calming) (I am super sleepy rn all of the sudden lol). No jitteriness with multiple steeps at all while I can’t say the same for the amber GABA version.
overall I enjoyed it as a nice sample/free treat but it’s not something I’d personally buy hence why I didn’t lol. its cousin (the amber GABA) has much more going on flavor-wise (at least in robustness) which is why I opted for that

2022 Lich Tears - Shou Puer from White2Tea
2022 Lich Tears – Shou Puer from White2Tea
Like getting grapefruit rind stuck in the back of your throat— in a good way This is elation. Like those first moments when I pedaled away from my parents. Training wheels discarded. Balanced obtained. Five-year-old-freedom. I’m barely conscious. It’s not my fault. I blame an ornery commitment to scratch cooking. The stuffing recipe alone takes just under three hours. The bread must be torn –…

2001 Naked Yiwu | Teas We Like | Raw Puerh
Tumblr media
Sorry for my lack of posts, I’ve been very busy with class.
Excited to try another Yiwu tea. Initial aroma is Smokey and like sugary tart fruit. Canned peaches? Leaves are a very deep green color and are tightly packed, once opened up properly the liquor turns to a gold color. Taste is light, creamy, with some peach and melon flavors. Coats the mouth nicely. Super enjoyable. Qi is also light, a small feeling in the head. I really liked this one.
5 grams - 70ml pot
