As you can see some changes were made to her design because A) she was 16 on her first adventure and B) I wanted to change her horns and C) we need more plus size baddies

Ah her first documentation. I created her for a campaign led by my best friend in high school. First time dipping my toes into d&d and I immediately fell in love with tieflings.

When they told me that rangers have an inclination for animals, I immediately chose that class (druid was too complicated for me, rip).

But she had a wrym named Artan!! He was hatched conjoined at the leg with his brother who didn't make it. Sad boy and very sassy.

The campaign was so long ago and I was the fool who didn't take notes, but the player who roleplayed her best friend Andy did. I haven't talked to them in forever but it'd be cool if they still have them.

This is Andy! He was a half orc paladin very thoughtful and a big softy. So begins the paladin obsession lol 💕💕💕

She was basically me quirky, friendly and eager to help. Oh and completely oblivious to the prejudice against tieflings. Experienced the first microaggression from an old lady. I was so confused (⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠)

What should happen went he arrives and comes face to face again with Vera, adventurer and lover, after their lamentable parting in the Moonrise Colony.

Based on the events of Baldur's Gate 3, Zevlor's Letter, and the timeline with my original character Vera.

Wait For Me, A Zevlor Animatic premieres tomorrow 7/11!!

30+ hours over a month and a half has culminated in these 30 seconds. I'm excited to show you guys!

Looking back at my earlier animatics is wild in comparison. I've only done two others but this one is more detailed and I used a ton of references to try and stay true.

Though some liberties were taken to fit my vision. There's a lot to cover in 30 seconds so I hope it's not too much. We'll see tomorrow!

I can neither confirm nor deny that I went back and work on frames I claimed we're finished.

It would be easier to just let the frames play in succession, but I'm thinking about adding ✨motion✨ with like transitions or something. How to make it seem intentional and not random is the question.

(I totally didn't forget to add it to the last one so it may be best to go back and read that to understand this one a little better.)

Short version, Vera pulls Zevlor aside to get closure from their tumultuous parting. Now queue Die with a Smile. (⁠っ⁠˘̩⁠╭⁠╮⁠˘̩⁠)⁠っ💕💕💕

Now the longer version...

Vera wants to cross the room to him and every fiber of her being tells her to. Whether she'll hug, kiss, or strike Zevlor once in his vicinity she can't tell. She wants to question him about his whereabouts, like a mother would when their child stays out past the setting sun. Still she denies herself and tries to bring her focus to the task at hand.

That coupled with the memory of being pushed away and left behind despite her pleas keeps her firmly rooted amongst her companions. Her face set with scowl at her own cowardice. Hells, they could very well die today and here she is with her mind on the wrong priorities.

Only from the prompting of her closest friend, Karlach, does she get some clarity. She needs to talk to him for closure if anything. Whispering a thank you to burley woman she hones her focus on Zevlor, striding across the room to the male tiefling.

She can see him shift under the intensity of her gaze, the guilt etched into his features. She can't shake the feeling that look doesn't belong there but she feels a little better knowing he wasn't proud of the fracture in their bond.

Her expression remains cool as she approaches him, simply nodding to the door that leads outside and walks past him to it. Even with the nerves churning in his gut he obediently follows.

Once they cross the threshold they can see the destruction of the city as it rages on. She knows time is of the essence and this is selfish when so many are relying on her guidance. But she wouldn't be able to focus thinking about him. He has simultaneously the best and worst timing for showing up.

Despite the negative emotions that sprung up in the void he left, she missed him more than anything. A small flicker of warmth tickles her heart as Zevlor looks like a subordinate about to get his ear chewed off.

They tentatively begin with pointless small talk and observations about each other until Vera's frustration cracks her constructed facade. He flinches but doesn't falter in the face of her hurt, knowing it’s just.

Finally they arrive at the question that has been the point of tension between them. One he knew he needed to answer but dreaded explaining, knowing there was no satisfactory answer to give her. Why did he leave and all but vanish?

She could gather why he needed space, the ambush had shook him to his core. Even if he hadn't joined her to fight Kethric, she at least expected to find him after. To be close to him again, to help him pick up the shattered remnants of himself, and to be quite honest she needed his comfort as well. But he left, no note or nod to where he'd be just a simple parting to see her later.

He begins slowly, voicing his guilt and shame. Then like a script he's studied before, he falls back into the old disgraced paladin routine, an exiled commander. What use could he have been to her so broken?

Frustration and sadness battle inside her. After everything they've been through between the fighting and the quiet moments, how could he still not see that she thinks the world of him? That he is enough even in this moment.

Frustration seems like it's going to win until he apologizes for hurting her. That was all she really wanted to hear. Despite all the heartache he caused, she still cares deeply about him. Never once did he leave her mind even after the happy memories with him became painful. Deep down she wholeheartedly believes he's a good person.

What she didn't anticipate though was how much his words would make her react physically. She feels tears prick her eyes as suppressed emotions finally make themselves known. A weight feels like it's been lifted from her heart but she still feels the wound formed by his absence.

The destruction that plays behind them like a dark symphony reminds her they might not make it to tomorrow. She's tired of putting off telling him how she feels. Each time they parted they always danced around the subject for fear of the wrong timing and now this may be her last opportunity. Before she even realizes what she's doing, she's on him. Spinning around at nearly inhuman speed and pulling him into a bone crushing hug. To her immense relief he responds in kind, wrapping his arms around her and holding her just as close. Quietly croaking apologies into her shoulder.

This animatic is based on the Zevlor's epilogue letter with a big splash of Zevlor x Vera (Zevra? Verlor? I need a ship name guys, lol)

I can't expect you to gather their lore from some pictures alone so ✨story time✨

The short version is that I keep to the games canon so ⚠️ act 2 and 3 spoilers⚠️

Now the slightly longer version...

Guilt and fear kept Zevlor from joining Vera after the colony. A heart wrenching parting and a vanishing act later the time comes for the allies to gather for the final battle.

In truth, he did not stray far from her taking shelter in a nearby temple with other refugees. But when the Nether Brain rose over the city, instincts kicked in and he gathered a platoon of veterans to join the effort.

He should have known he'd see her, yet he was still unprepared. Watching Vera lead the gathering and soon the charge filled him with of pride and admiration. Only overshadowed by the raging guilt that had settled deep in his bones.

He's not sure after everything she'd even want him here. But he needs to be, has to be. For what remains of his people, for their new life, and for her.

Allies fill the crumbling room with words of inspiration and aid. So when the achingly familiar voice cuts through the cheers time seems to stop for Vera. She nearly drowns in the flood of emotions released by his mere presence. Notably relief, heartache, anger, everything she'd been stewing in since Zevlor's self-imposed absence.

Gouache Figure Warmups 2023

Teach told us to use the gouache like water color and it came out pretty cool. Love the layering capacity of this medium but it was hard to mix the right colors and tones on the spot.

I miss figure drawing, it was so much fun.
