Hi!

I'm so sorry there haven't been any updates to "And that's how you make history, baby."

I've had some awful medical issues with my wrists. It's called De Quervain’s Tendinosis. I had surgery on my right wrist in early May. THEN my left wrist started with the same issue. It's very painful, and by the time I'm done work, which requires 90% computer time, I'm in too much pain to write but I do get some writing in on the weekends.

But I'm still committed to finishing it! Even if everyone has moved on.

However, I probably won't get surgery for the left wrist until December. They try cortisone shots first. I've already had one, and it did nothing. In fact, I think it just made it more angry.

One time, I was on Coronado Island during SDCC and saw you. It's probably been 12-15 years now. Since that day, sometimes when I feel out of place because maybe my style or vibe doesn't match the crowd I'm in, I think, "Stop! Be as comfortable and confident as Neil Gaiman walking around wearing all black in the California sunshine!"

This sounds very wise. I long ago learned I'm more comfortable feeling like me.

I think Simon, who is really independent, would appreciate a cat more. I could totally see a black cat softly purring on his laps while he is making music.

Wilhelm would choose the cat because he loves to make Simon happy. Maybe the cat would also remind him of his boyfriend with his black fur and irresistible cuteness. After a little while, he would be proud to have earned the cat’s affection (unlike with everyone else who automatically sucks up to him because he’s a Prince).

In between the origin of the word and this was when you were called a 'troll' for disagreeing with someone.

An online community existed for a long time before the masses showed up. We were a community, a culture. We had specific social norms and words. Then the fucking iPhone showed up, and it was an invasion of people who didn't bother to adapt to the already existing community. They didn't care to adapt to a different culture. Worse, they didn't bother to understand the nuances of interactions online vs offline.

We really do need to bring back the word "trolling" and warning ppl not to feed the trolls

I sat on this one because I've also been struggling with my feelings about Reddit too. More on that after my response to this.

Yes, I 100% agree. It's next-level slacktivism—attempting to force someone else into activism while you contradict yourself and/or do nothing on your own.

Some random 20somethings aren't going to end a conflict that has been going on for over a century.

I've also been struggling with Reddit in general. The interactions over there just don't bring me any joy, only frustration. The thread you referenced sealed the deal for me.

Because my AuDHD brain fixates on something, and I couldn't just stop going there, I've deactivated my account. I pulled the plug. I ripped the band-aid off. I've been going back and forth about this, trying not to go over there, but I couldn't stay away.

I've said several times over there that Tumblr is truly the most sane and friendly platform for fandom right now.

And, really, I need to spend the time I wasted over there writing and reading more.
