Caitlin was in the middle of playoffs, I doubt she knew the extent of what was happening on social media, but she specifically condemned racist attacks on other players like two days after the Dijonai situation.

i never really post on here, but genuinely things are getting to a point and I like need to vent abt it. I was watching Sue Bird's interview with Tina Charles, and the comments are just filled with those fucking cc maga fans just saying the craziest shit about Sue and Tina, and it's so odd to read. They were all crashing out bc Sue and Tina were laughing about everything that happened in that one sun-fever game. they're making it seem like Tina Charles is some psychotic woman who so violently attacked helpless Caitlin Clark. Mind you, they weren't even laughing AT her; if anything, they're laughing about how soft the W has gotten compared to their era of basketball. But if you go by the comments, you would've thought she took her out to the middle of the court and beat the shit out of her. anyway, whatever, I just have to say that it's so fucking exhausting being a fan of the W these days because of the (bad) cc fans. They're literally not even fans; they just use her name to push their own bigoted agendas. They infantilize her every chance they get and villainize anyone who isn't up her ass. like, YES, she is going to get shoved. Basketball is a PHYSICAL sport. And what makes it crazier is that they paint it out to be like every player in the w is going after her and purposely trying to attack her when these things (if not worse) happen to EVERYONE else. Tip Hayes has been concussed like 780 million times this year, and she broke her nose. Hell, even Sue Bird broke her nose multiple times. IT'S BASKETBALL. the shit happens. But these deranged fans don't actually watch teams other than the Fever, so they create all these absurd narratives.

It really sucks bc I do actually really enjoy watching Caitlin play, and I think she's super talented. I know it also must be exhausting being 23 years old and being told you have to be the face of an entire league, represent all of these different things, and propel a business to a whole new level. That's an inhumane amount of pressure, I get that. But on the other hand, I'm resentful bc of the way she handles herself on the court. She's got a huge weight on her shoulders, which kinda comes with a huge ego problem. In every scenario, she expects things to go her way and behaves childishly when they don't. She argues with refs but gets no tech, gets away with fouling ALL THE TIME, and generally does things with no punishment. She also antagonizes people on the court, but shies away from the confrontation as if she wasn't the one who started it. And every single time she does this, it just opens the door for those bad "fans" to go and terrorize other W players. In my mind, I can't imagine she does those things knowing the outcome, but still, I'd wish she'd be more mindful about the way she behaves because of the way it affects her colleagues. She never takes accountability for the interactions that SHE starts, which ofc leads to some pretty heinous things being said to other players, bc those fans think she fucking invented basketball.

one more thing: I know I'll probably get jumped for comparing the two, so I'm sorry. I just wish that Caitlin would be a little more outspoken like Paige is. Yes, I know she has condemned the racism/bigotry by her fanbase. So maybe saying this is pointless idk... I just feel like, when it comes to paige, nobody has ever had to question her morals or where she stands, like "politically" ig. She's going to stand up for other's without being asked every single time just because that's the kind of person she is. But with Caitlin, she seems so reluctant to say anything. She just stays out of it. Like last year, for example, people were being incredibly racist towards Dijonai Carrington cause of the whole eye thing. She said nothing about the rampant racism. Nothing at all. And she's chronically online, so ik she had to have seen some of it. Even outside of that, players just face so much racism because of cc's fanbase. She can't control them, I know. I don't really expect her to. But I wish she would be a little more insistent about her morals/boundaries. Bc personally, I feel like if Paige were in that position, I think it'd get immediately shut down. But I mean idk, I guess it's really not fair to pit them against each other, it was just a thought.

see personally I find it exhausting to be a W fan when you have people writing essays like this, where they say such thing as the leader in techs last season never gets techs, say she never defends anyone or holds herself accountable when she quite literally does all the time, and state that Paige would’ve handled all of this better - a complete hypothetical (that I wouldn’t say is even particularly accurate seeing as she hasn’t said anything about her own teammate facing racism from her fans much less anyone on other teams)
