[C] The Taeyeon kick continues. I am obsessed with this track all over again. This is classic Taeyeon, she sounds amazing, it’s such a chill track but doesn’t feel really slow. It’s the perfect track. I’ve been listening to it like crazy over the last couple days. I can’t wait for her new album coming, I can only imagine what she’s going to bless us with.

SuperM - Jopping

[C] I don’t know what I was expecting from SuperM cause it really could have gone in any direction but it honestly couldn’t have gone better. Watching them on ellen is crazy, jopping is so damn catchy it’s always stuck in my head after I listen to it. I think now that they’ve released their album and started promoting everyone will calm down with the hate and just come together and support them cause we should all be so damn proud of them.

Brown Eyed Girls - Sixth Sense 

[S] I figured that I would take a look back today at some old school legends because I remember hearing recently that these girls will be making a comeback soon and that makes me super excited. I have always loved Ga-in’s solo stuff but I will admit that I never really have listened to Brown Eyed Girls outside of abracadabra, and I think I was Missing out I definitely need to take more time to explore their discography. Sixth sense has a great old school vibe and I love old school kpop like this!

Super Junior - Somebody New

[M] There is so much build up towards Super Junior’s album release later this month and I am dying inside waiting for its release. I love the behind the scenes take of this MV as they prep for their comeback, Super Junior is such a fun group of people that you know this kind of video will be fun without much effort. Somebody New has such a wonderful melody, its ballady but still so lively and makes you want to dance and sing along to the chorus. This song is going to be stuck in my head for the rest of the day. October 14 needs to hurry up and get here as I need this new album in my life yesterday.

Amber - Hands Behind My Back

[M] I am excited to see that Amber made such a quick comeback after leaving SM Entertainment, and I am hoping that we get to see so much more from her musically now that she seems to have much more freedom and a label that is letting her release more music. Her voice sounds amazing in Hands Behind My Back. The dance for this track is so interesting and I really want to learn it because it looks like so much fun. I haven’t quite figured out what is happening in the plot of this MV and I will probably have to watch it a few times to try and understand it but I can’t help but think it is metaphorical about her time at SM?

ONEUS - LIT

[M] ONEUS really impressed me with Twilight, so I am excited to have something new from them because I am still listening to these guys pretty frequently. Lit has the same energy and style as Twilight but a completely different sound and it is working. I am getting the feeling that ONEUS is going to be a rookie group to watch because these guys came out of the gate so strong. This video is really pretty and extremely fun. I am going to listening to this song so much and add it along Twilight in my playlists

Super Junior - The Crown

[M] I would be lying if I said that I have been listening to anything other than this song on repeat since this was released. I am waiting for this album to come out with great anticipation. The Crown is exceptionally well put together and has become my favourite track to throw on my headphones when I’m walking anywhere, driving and working on stuff, it is my energy boost track. The guys all look amazing and I can’t stop watching the video with every listen. I love how the video featured each member one on one and they all look fine. Super Junior is aging just like wine, just fine! Some things get better with age and this is the best example of this principle.

Monsta X - Love U

[M] I am actually amazed about how much Kpop is being released in English. I am not surprised because of how big Kpop has gotten in Canada, the United States, Europe etc. I know BTS said they wouldn’t release music in English and I am wonder now with Monsta X, NCT and others releasing so much English music if they will change their approach to their North American releases. That being said I love all the different sounds that Monsta X has been exploring and experimenting with lately, however Love U has a  VERY western sound and I don’t think that it really sounds like a kpop song anymore. I don’t think that I would even know that this was Monsta X if I heard it on the radio and I dislike that lost of originality that Monsta X is notorious for.

Song of the Day - October 1st 2019

Dreamcatcher - Deja Vu

[M] Another Dreamcatcher track in less than a week, do these girls not slowdown and take a rest? I am loving the video aesthetics. My first listen through I kept waiting and anticipating the song to get heavier and at about the 1:10 minute mark when it does, I found it very satisfying. The song provided many points when those heavy elements could have dropped and leave me on the edge of my seat in anticipation. Dreamcatcher is absolutely beautiful slowed down and softened. Deja Vu is such an amazing composition paired with a beautiful video. These girls are quickly becoming one of my favourites.
