Despite the drastic change in art the visuals for "ALL YOU NEED IS KILL" anime looks absolutely kino. I hope it wont be as divisive as an adaptation as, say, The Flowers of Evil — which was also a fantastic show.

The most obscure entry on my MAL that I can actually vouch for would be 'Helpless Void' by Keigo Ito. The 3 minute short features an Incredibly disturbing ambiance of a man giving into his own depravity. I gave an anime a 9/10 for once!

The Japanese hardcover deluxe edition for 'Orb: On The Movements of The Earth' manga genuinely has some of the most beautiful abstract covers I've seen in the medium. The boxset also features a ribbon that pulls the books out as if they were stairs.

I wasn't aware Kasane's on'yomi reading "Rui" had real-life historical meaning:
"Born with an ugly face, Suke was hated by her father, Yoemon. After killing her, Yoemon later had another daughter, Rui, but since she looked just like Suke, villagers called her "Kasane," believing Suke was reborn."

A new manga published today with an interesting premise of a tower that had the ability to pause time by "recycling" everything, including people. "Maison and the Man-Eating Apartment" documents a society living within seconds of destruction. Very heavy influences of Made in Abyss and Tsutomu Nihei's artstyle!

I'm glad Flow (2024) won at The Oscars because look how beautiful these are! lacking dialogue and relying so heavily on environmental storytelling was something I don't see often and the 'mythology' of the story kept me engaged. Definitely a film I will continue to ponder about.

✨ LO画集3on4 by Takamichi.
Collection of interviews, along with the standard design process and featured reference sheets for Comic LO volumes 151-200. It's a shame the previous books were not reprinted.

I read new manga that started publishing in 2024. Some underrated one-shots from new authors, others upcoming hits. I tried my best to cover a variety of topics and demographics. Here are 50 of the most memorable series: https://myanimelist.net/stacks/57386
