The culture wars makes another victim: Spokecandies
The madness of culture wars makes another victim: M&Ms Spokecandies. Mars Inc has replaced it by comedian Maya Rudolph after Fox's Tucker Carlson has criticises its rebrand.
The mascot changes were not meant to "break the internet", M&Ms said on Monday.
The rebrand had been bashed as "Woke M&Ms" by Fox News' Tucker Carlson.
The company said it will hire Rudolph, who is known for her tenure on sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live, as its spokesperson.
M&Ms first updated its cartoon characters in January 2022, as part of a "global commitment to creating a world where everyone feels they belong and society is inclusive", the candy's parent company, Mars Inc, said at the time.
As part of the makeover, the two female M&M characters wore less stereotypically feminine attire - the green M&M swapped out her go-go boots for a pair of "cool, laid-back" sneakers, and the Brown M&M shortened the height of her heels.
Tucker Carlson Tonight has been among the most prominent critics of the change. It featured on multiple segments on the show, during which the host criticised the lack of eye-candy in the M&Ms rebrand, saying the female cartoon characters now look "less sexy".
"M&M's will not be satisfied until every last cartoon character is deeply unappealing and totally androgynous. Until the moment you wouldn't want to have a drink with any one of them. That's the goal," Mr Carlson said last year.
He doubled-down on his condemnation earlier this month, after M&Ms launched limited-edition packaging featuring only its female candy characters, with proceeds of the sales donated to female-focused charities.
"The woke M&Ms are back," Mr Carlson said in a 10 January segment, targeting the green M&M and "a plus-sized, obese purple M&M".
In its statement on Monday, M&Ms said it did not intend for the rebranding of its spokescandies to be a divisive issue.
"Now we get it - even a candy's shoes can be polarising. Which was the last thing M&Ms wanted since we're all about bringing people together," the company said.
The company added it is confident that its new spokesperson Rudolph "will champion the power of fun to create a world where everyone feels they belong".
Conclusion: I'm just eat M&Ms and i feel fine

"And for what? For uncosted tax breaks for those earning hundreds of thousands of pounds."
Downing Street has rejected it.

Pound has plunged in stock markets; Kwarteng wanna more tax cuts and Bank of England won't hesitate raise its interest rates while Britons loses their patience on it.
After Chancelor of Exchequer Kwasi Kwarteng had announced tax cuts in his mini budget on last Friday. Stock markets has react badly by that. The pound has plunged its lowest level against US Dollar.
The Bank of England has said it will "not hesitate" to hike interest rates to curb inflation after the pound fell to a record low against the US dollar.
The Bank said it was "monitoring developments closely" and would make a decision on any action in November.
Its statement came after the Treasury said it would publish a plan to tackle debt in a bid to reassure investors.
The pound fell again after the two statements and some UK lenders said they were halting new mortgage deals.
Uk mortage lenders like Halifax, Virgin Money and Skipton Building society has halted new offers to their customers.
Experts said a rise in the cost of long-term borrowing due to the market turmoil meant the cost to lenders of offering new mortgage deals was too expensive.
A weak pound has many negative effects like high inflation and government don't have ways to tackle its fiscal debts. The cost of living crisis and rise of commodites prices to buy like Oil and Gas will damage British economy.
Independent offices like IFS and OBR didn't have access to government forecasts to predicts the fiscal problems ahead of mini budget announced by Kwarteng.
What's it means: The Tory government isn't working again....

Europe: UK seizes first yatch from unknown oligarch in British waters for Russia fury
Tumblr media
For the first time since Ukraine War. UK coastal guard has seized a yatch which owner is a unknown oligarch as part to hold sanctions against Russia.
The £38m yacht, named Phi, is owned by an unnamed Russian businessman.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said the individual was not currently sanctioned but had "close connections" to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The 58.5m (192ft) Phi was first identified as being potentially Russian-owned on 13 March but its ownership is "deliberately well hidden", the government said.
It added that the company the ship is registered to is based in the Caribbean islands of St Kitts and Nevis but it carried Maltese flags to hide its origins.
The Department for Transport (DfT) would not comment on why it was not naming the individual who owns the yacht.
Transport secretary Mr Shapps said the move was "a clear and stark warning to Putin and his cronies".
"The ship won't be going anywhere for the time being," he said. "People who have benefitted from [Mr Putin's] regime cannot benefit from sailing around London and the UK in ships like this."
On its website, the ship's builder Royal Huisman describes Phi - which is named after the mathematical concept also known as the Golden Ratio - as "magnificently sensuous".
The bright blue yacht features what the builders call an "infinite wine cellar", as well as a fresh-water swimming pool and penthouse apartment on the upper deck.
The ship, which was built in the Netherlands, made her maiden voyage last year.
UK officials boarded Phi in Canary Wharf, east London on Tuesday. The vessel was in the capital for a superyacht awards ceremony and was due to depart at 12:00.
It has seized on Tuesday by UK law enforcement agencies, DfT, NCA and Maritime and Coastal Guard Service.
Conclusion: Russian spends a lot of money in Yatch which don't use for nothing. It's a waste of time for me.

US: Ketanji Brown starts her hearings to Supreme Court despite Republicans scrutiny.
US president Joe Biden picks Ketanji Brown Jackson as Supreme Court nominee. On monday, she faces the US senate judiciary commitee to begun her hearings before her approval by full senate vote.
In her opening remarks before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday, Judge Jackson spoke of her family and her legal mentors and role models.
She clerked for Justice Breyer during the Supreme Court's 1999-2000 term and said the retiring justice exemplified what was needed in the role, the "highest level of skill and integrity, civility, and grace".
Judge Jackson also briefly spoke of her approach to law, saying: "I have been a judge for nearly a decade now, and I take that responsibility and my duty to be independent very seriously.
"I decide cases from a neutral posture. I evaluate the facts, and I interpret and apply the law to the facts of the case before me, without fear or favour, consistent with my judicial oath. "
Chuck Grassley, the committee's top Republican, on Monday promised Judge Jackson a respectful process but said his colleagues would be looking into whether she has imposed her own policy preferences from the bench, which "makes it harder for us to write good laws", he said.
"I'll be looking to see whether Judge Jackson is committed to the Constitution as originally understood," Mr Grassley said.
Democrats are expected to lean heavily on the historic nature of Judge Jackson's selection.
"Your presence here to brave this process will give inspiration to millions who see themselves in you," said Democratic committee chairman Dick Durbin, calling her a "living witness" of what is possible in America.
The supreme court is formed by 6 conservatives judges and 3 liberal ones. Judge Jackson to be approved by Senate. It don't change that. But judge Clarence Thomas still il and work in absentia.
Conclusion: I prefer a judge Jackson than Brett Kavanaugh.

Business: US airliner Delta warns to raise its ticket prices due to oil costs
The airliners companies faces a great trouble: the rise of oil prices. The US airliner giant Delta has warned it raises its tickets prices to cover thats costs. In interview to BBC's Talking Business programme, Delta Air Lines head Ed Bastian sais the final impact "really depends where fuel prices settle".
Mr Bastian said that on a domestic US flight the rise in fuel prices "is probably about $25 on a ticket, that could be anywhere between 5% to 10% at these high levels of oil... and international [flights] will be a bit higher than that".
Delta is planning to introduce fuel surcharges on the international flights which account for about 35% of its business, and increase US ticket prices.
