So this character from Ben 10, Michael Morningstar, is a symbol for Lucifer/Satan, the fallen angel who stole Jesus Christ’s title of “Morning Star.” (Also Michael is the name of an archangel.) Satan masquerades as an angel of light, but is full of darkness, as shown by Michael’s other name, Darkstar, when he falls from his glory like Satan did.

Just as Satan is vain and wants to be like God, so is Michael.

Now people wonder why Michael targeted women in particular for their energy.

The answer is that again he symbolizes Satan. Satan is extremely jealous of women for their beauty and bearing God’s image. It’s not just being creepy toward women, it’s hating them and wanting to steal what they have.
So that mystery is solved and now you know.

Omi: “Since you call yourself a mutt, should I call you a mutt as well?”
Raimundo: “Nah, only I can call myself that.”
Worst idea Xiaolin Showdown had was forcing them into a rivalry with a “usurping main character.” Can’t it just be a kid understanding a teen and vice versa?

Dr. Tochka: “Your saving grace is that you two were designed by humans, unlike this primitive primate.”
Shadow: “Yes, it’s definitely a privilege.”
Sonic: “So how come you look more like a monkey than we do?”

Didn’t know how crazy Adventure Time got with psychology and esoteric religious symbolism. I thought it was about a boy and a dog going on magical adventures… what’s happening man? 😭
“Matthew is essentially a cult leader or a false prophet of some sort, offering peace and restoration when the second end of the world comes, and for anyone who can no longer find peace and meaning in their own lives. Essentially, Matthew boils people down into being thoughtless, desireless beings who merely follow in the path of one ultimate sense of power that gives them meaning. It is cool how Matthew isn’t necessarily presented as a villain; like everything else in this episode, his state of being is ambiguous. There’s nothing that suggests he’s downright malicious, though his ultimate downfall is the fact that he destroys the free will and identities of other beings, but only at the expense of their original choice to sacrifice themselves to become something greater. This is why Lemongrab came; Finn states, “I know ya got issues,” and that’s exactly what propelled Lemongrab to choose a new path of being: to surrender his worldly and inner problems, and to become part of something bigger than himself, as many do with any kind of religion. Though, Lemongrab’s ultimate ego is what leaves him unable to surrender himself to Matthew. As he pulls out the remaining Lemonjons (or lemon candies) he gathered from his dinner, he realizes that the Lemonjons, being greasy and “flawed” could break Matthew. Lemongrab exclaims, “if you are the head that floats atop the ziggurat, then the stairs that lead to you must be infinite. Infinite stairs are UNACCEPTABLE!” Lemongrab knows that, to actually be something or someone as great as Matthew, the path to become undoubtedly perfect offers an impossible destination. Lemongrab came to the Mountain of Matthew to find peace in his state of being, but as it has been enforced time and time again, in Lemongrab’s mind it’s “his way or the highway.” Lemongrab fails to understand why he should give himself up to be like everyone else, because even though he isn’t fully happy with his life, he knows that he doesn’t want to lose his lemon-y essence in the end. The imperfect nature and utter “grease” of the Lemonjons causes Matthew “perfect” nature to erupt, and to show the true face of his followers, who are all identical and unremarkable, showing that his followers truly did sacrifice every sense of their being. It’s complicated to know if what Lemongrab did was right; these people are clearly upset with his actions, and while I don’t think the nature of Matthew was truly authentic, some people would much rather be apart of something that helps them feel more special and unique, even if it does stifle their own individuality and characteristics.”
Okay, so why is this thing called Matthew? If you google the name, the first thing that pops up is Matthew the Apostle who wrote one of the four gospel accounts of Jesus Christ in the New Testament of the Bible.
Sooo… yeah… this entity doesn’t seem to represent just a general religious cult, but Christianity in particular. Christianity is about sacrificing your ego, selfish desires and cares of the flesh to become righteous like Jesus. Repenting of your flaws/sins and becoming the pure holy being God created you to be as He is. But Lemongrab rejects this path and calls it so impossible that he would rather keep his greasy flaws. Like how most people reject the Gospel and want to stay sinful and dirty because they love themselves and the vices of the world too much. In that sense the show is pretty accurate spiritually here (not in the other junk it has like Buddhist reincarnation).
There are lots of other esoteric religious symbols found in the show that make you think “were the writers going through their own wacky spiritual journey while writing this?” (Masonic checkerboard and all-seeing eye, Life as the serpent Satan in the Garden of Eden, the Baphomet, Baby Jesus and the Virgin Mary, GOLB (God?) and etc.)

Sonic starts seeing G.U.N. personnel as machines with human skin. The military squashes your independent thought, which allows you to climb the hierarchy but takes away your ability to resist morally questionable directives, esp. if you want medals.

Once I realized Abraham Tower was the less loved child born on accident whose “crime” was being rightfully suspicious of Satan’s child I started sympathizing with him. Poor guy. (“Abraham” is an important godly figure in the Bible… is the Sonic series being anti-biblical again?)

Been thinking about my Xiaolin Showdown AU and want it to be about a global dragon AI taking over the world by studying multicultural dynamics in humans and creating a single world culture based on competition for money and power. *gasp for air* China wants to steal it of course.

What I want to achieve for Sonic and Shadow is the sense of anxiety/frustration that comes with being unable to understand each other as twin experiments. Like Sonic’s desires for an ideal brother crushed by someone who not only doesn’t share his values but finds them dangerous.

“No… that cocky lab turncoat!”
Mobius was a G.U.N. scientist Sonic had rapport with. When he sees a photo of Mobius holding his bandaged mother and a gun, he concludes that the doctor cruelly shot the hedgehog in each foot to catch her. But is that what happened?

“The doctor lady gave us ‘medicine.’” (It proved fatal.)
“Is she a doctor or a witch?”
The dead animals want Shadow’s life and are confused because Shadow’s savior was the one who killed them during biological experiments. Goth dilemma.
“Since you’re the only one alive, how does the rain feel?”
“Not cold. Not wet. Just gently taps on me. But it’s enough.” (It’s enough for him to know he’s not a roadside carcass.)
Here Shadow concludes that he is not a sensual being. How else can he focus on work all the time?
