Suggested art work- ALLEGORY OF THE CAVE

Perhaps because he is an older animator, I can see some insistence on the very nature of animation in his works.For example, he insisted on preserving the feeling of painting in the animation. Reka Bucsi's work feels lonely and romantic, and the author has her own independent world.The whole work is delicate and layered. She is trying to express her understanding of emotion with her unique language and world view.Personally, I prefer "love", the art experimental animation.Planets, tides, and gravity influence the growth, union, and decomposition of all things.I want to cry when I see two giant beasts meet, one is eaten by the other, the two merge into one, and finally become the ocean.The essence of life and love is that one gives and one receives.There is always light in the darkness, and the space of one person is always accompanied by the sacrifice of another.Every shot in it is lonely and lovely, warm and sad.It's really a sad story.

Revised artist statement
 I didn't choose a particular expression. One piece may be a device while another an animation or interactive space. I create a channel for others to convey their real feeling and provide an opportunity for anyone to pay attention to. One of my works is about obsessional thoughts. We're constantly being told what a perfect life is, how to live. Everyone has an imagination of life, but few people can completely ignore the eyes of others. So, sometimes it's hard to stick to yourself. We are always forced to accept other people's belief and impose our own ideas on others. I hope my work can help people to face these issues about expression and listening, also give them the courage to stand up for themselves.

Concept
1)     About topics
For my thesis, I chose to continue to study my shadow puppet thesis. I also want to answer a question through my research: The reason why traditional culture has fallen in this era is because culture itself cannot meet people's artistic needs, or the form does not meet the trend of the times. I want to try to combine some physical installations to express contemporary issues in the form of shadow puppet, and give traditional art forms a new meaning.

1)     I am currently more interested in traditional Chinese rice paper, and recently learned about the making of some masks. I think the mask is an object with many meanings. I want to use media and technology that can interact with the hand. eg. leap motion
2)     When I was preparing to apply for the school's portfolio, I tried to use leapmotion combined with the unreal engine, but the effect was not very satisfactory to me.I've recently been thinking about using these techniques and media to control light and shadow changes or patterns, rather than controlling characters.
3)     NOTA BENE-This team used Kinect to make a silhouette interactive work, which gave me some inspiration.
  Process
One of my favorite stages of creation is the stage of adjusting the visual effects after the completion of the work. During this period, there will be some new ideas. These new ideas sometimes bring very good results to the work.
What I don't like the most is to build visual effects in the beginning, because there are many factors to consider.
  Audience
1) What I like the most is works that allow me to feel thoughtful interaction with the work, not just behavioral interactions
2) Some older people who are interested in traditional cultural forms, and some young people who are attracted by the new forms I adopt.
3) The shadow and light that constantly change around the audience and feel the theme I want to convey
4)I hope to break people's inherent views on shadow play, while retaining and transmitting the core of shadow play form, so that more people can pay attention to this long-established art form

 Weiyi Chen
 I work in a cross-disciplinary style where one piece may be a device while another an animation or interactive space. By acting as a platform for others to express their true feelings, my work creates a place for anyone to listen. One of my interactive video work is mainly about verbal abuse, but the focus is on less serious forms, like improper communication, as opposed to more serious forms, like physical abuse. I draw on my experience with my own parents, where I suffered mentally as a result of lack of communication. I hope to connect with other young people who face similar issues.

Although the author has expressed many concerns about poor images, these changes do damage the image itself, but I see some exciting parts from these changes. If I was a filmmaker, I would be very worried and disagree with these changes. But as a digital artist, I have also seen very interesting changes. This seemingly unfavorable effect has also brought more possibilities to the image. After reading the first part of this article, I have a question. Should low resolution be completely negated? Although high resolution brings a lot of details and aesthetics, it also lacks some overall aesthetics. I think we should look at the quality of images with different standards and allow also appreciate the sharpness of images in different works.
 There are indeed many disadvantages in the digital age. Technology has destroyed the private attributes of images. These large-scale transmissions have brought a great blow to the video art and even the video itself. Everyone in the society hates this phenomenon and has become a passer. This phenomenon cannot be changed, and it is also caused by social changes. I really like the "imperfect cinema" concept mentioned in the article. Miranda Javid
Miranda's two animations used only black and white ash, but they used black and white ash to show the atmosphere of different times of the day. This is very surprising.
