"How can someone write something so shameless? how can this character be so cruel?"- The blogger writing the article exclaimed

Well, it seems that this character just had to follow the plot- without a choice in the matter.

That's right, you transmigrated into that very antagonist. Dressed in stark white mourning attire, and eyes gleaming with crimson malice. The very antagonist who sent a hundred men and women to their deathbeds and instigated the downfall of the world.

But in your turn in this forsaken role, you were the one whose downfall was instigated. Even with the help of the system, over and over and over again.

Fearing the fragile state of your sanity, your system pulled some strings to send you back into the past. This time the antagonist is just a child, the major sects are not yet powerful, ghosts are civil(?) no evil has taken root (?)yet, and the world- including yourself(?) can be saved.

Originally occupying the antagonist's body and forced to play a role of bitter ends, ending up failing for multiple 'play throughs' again and again. The system decided to send you to the past of the world before the plot had taken place.

You are now your own self, but just that. You have only yourself and y̶o̶u̶r̶ s̶y̶s̶t̶e̶m̶. Your past achievements, titles, treasures and even memories are... baren.

The system is your mysterious guide, it appeared mysteriously when you transmigrated, and has been accompanying you ever since. All though it claims to be just a gathering of data, it likes to accompany you as many things and acts very humane.

The Antagonist whose body you once occupied. With a malicious bearing and vicious mind, Wu Ranxi once hailed from a wealthy family but with a heart incapable of being whole no matter how much gold was stuffed into it, massacred the entire household.

Wu Ranxi had a tendency to obtain perverse satisfaction from destroying what others held dear and hearing their strained desperation. It is said that Wu Ranxi was a curse- a scourge incarnate promised to bring peace crashing.

Now, just a child.

(Same as the Antagonist's gender)

The Protagonist who clawed towards and ripped you open for the world to see in each playthrough, extremely cunning and absolutely unwilling to let go of a grudge, celebrated as a gentle and selfless saint by everyone else. An Orphan with unparalleled talent and strong will.

Lian Si was given the name 'Lian' by his master due to the nature of the lotus to grow pure and untarnished, even in dirty waters and 'Si' so that Lian Si would always think pure things. True to this name, Lian Si dislikes getting dirty and holds a strong disdain for people and places considered 'dirty', even willing to cut them down without hesitation.

Some could say this 'Si' is not for thinking but for being stubborn.

⧼⨳The Crossdressing Demon Lord⨳⧽ RO

(Male)

The great northern demon lord. Even his name 'Da Xuanjun' strikes fear in the hearts of all who hear, no matter where they belong to. Rumoured to be cruel and frosty, if he wants something, this tyrant never asks for it twice.

He has been conquering small territories subtly, slowly taking over the southern and eastern lands and driving the other lords crazy. But for someone of his calibre, he was never spoken or heard of not even 50 years later.

He is known to change his appearance to trick people.

Mo Yuxuan appears to be a toned young man with pale skin and abyssal black eyes. His hair is equally black and silky, with some curls at the end. His most defining features are his slender fingers (̶ahem veiny hands ahem)̶ and pointed black nails, sharp like his hooded gaze.

⧼⨳The Firecracker Beauty⨳⧽ RO

(Female)

A guest from the isolated fairy island. She arrived to the capital with great fanfare promising to dispel the recent gloom surrounding it as well as have a taste of what the world has to offer. Boastful and fiery, she is a narcissist who loves attention on her person, adorning it like the jewels she wears and discards every day.

She arrived with five little maidens from her home palace, unable to take care of herself all by her lonesome. But only two remain with her now, making the always fearless charmer furrow her brows constantly.

She is spoiled and meddlesome, unnacustomed to being left alone.

Laxini (Hua Zhuyin) has a curvaceous body, like a heavenly maiden in the scroll paintings. Her skin is tawny, and her eyes are a peachy brown and always smiling. She likes to sway her hips when she walks, her semi braided hair swaying confidently like dark wild flames, accompanied by the jingling of the ankle bells on her person.

⧼⨳The Civil Ghost⨳⧽ RO

(Nonbinary)

A lingering spirit, a servant of the underworld. The people (can they be called people?) of the undead are often insane and malicious, disdainful of all things, including eachother. Polite and civil, they are known to be respectful even towards gouls.

The underworld usually has its doors shut tight and refuses to let spirits run wild. This little ghost has been in the surface world for such a long while, why hasn't anyone come to get it?

An air of melancholy surrounds this ghost like a mother unwilling to let go of her child.

Bai Min is slender and lean, with cloudy grey eyes and thin pale lips. This ghost's inky hair is let loose towards its ankles, floating like untouched rivers and high clouds. Their most defining trait is the atmosphere of chill that follows their person, as well as the smell of rotten wood upon their entrance.

⧼⨳The Smiling Tiger⨳⧽ RO

(Opposite gender to the Transmigrator, male if nonbinary)

The stranger who reeks of danger. This person has no relation with the cultivation world, and is an except to the rules of most its factions. Dignified and authoritative with a smiling face that is the cause of blind trust from many, Yeji acts with the maturity and assuredness of one who owns the world.

It is said that silk is easy to catch fire, people who are unaware of something will idolize that thing to the extreme. For someone born with a silver spoon, this noble displays too much casual awareness of things outside his/her supposedly sheltered upbringing.

Well endorsed in word play and business, Yeji is used to throwing money at problems.

Yeji is tall and lean with well-maintained muscles hidden under expensive fabric. With tan skin and oak-coloured hair and similarly amber eyes, an ever present smile hangs on Yeji's face. Yeji is specially.... well endowed in the bossom, no matter as a man or a woman.

⧼⨳The Strong Green Tea Essence⨳⧽ RO

(Same gender as the Transmigrator)

The future pillar of the cultivation world. Cold and unflinching, but fragrant and arrogant: this person is the unattainable dream of many men and women. This great immortal was brought up as a prodigy from a very young age, becoming a well-known behemoth in both elegance and battle.

50 years into the future, Sui Farui is the one who raised the name of their sect into the heavens. Also the mentor of the protagonist, insists that the little child you're in charge of is a demon to be rid of.

If Lian Si is stubborn and two faced, then Sui Farui is an immovable mountain with a hundred faces.

Sui Farui is slender and flat as the blade they wield. Pale green eyes and fair skin, an expressionless face and strands like black silk tied and pinned back cleanly, white strands braided. Their most defining features are their long legs and straight back, absolutely unwilling to bend. 5''10 as male, 5''9 as nonbinary and 5''8 as female

General update to touch base with you all:

Life has got in the way of writing this month with visits from friends who stayed with us for a bit and just health stuff in general so progress has slowed down a bit. I’m still aiming for end of July/early August for an update but it may not be the full childhood section unless I can get through everything within the next week (could be possible but some sections just keep growing). Warm Up Drabble

A few weeks ago I set myself a little timer to just write what was in my head and not edit or delete anything, just keep writing for the full time. It was only a short time as I had never don anything like that before but I think it helped me get started for the day! I ended up writing a little scene from Maddox's POV to get into his head a bit more and to understand the dynamic between him and Cormac. I thought I might share it here as it's sort of related to the project as it's the characters even if it's not a scene from the actual game.

You don’t get used to being watched. To have eyes on you no matter where you go, piercing your skin to see what’s inside, waiting for you to let out what they can already see. It's always the same wherever he goes.

They'd stopped off in a little town, Eastbrooke he thinks it's called, just for the night with the hope of stocking up on supplies and if they were lucky, find some work. They were running short on everything having stuck to the forest for the last week or so and Cormac had finally dragged him into the nearest town.

Those jobs could wait till morning though, right now sleeping in a proper bed was at the top of his list. Nights and nights of sleeping in a tent with only a bedroll between you and the hard ground he could mostly deal with, what he couldn't handle was Cormac's constant complaining about it. If it bothered him so much then why did he decide to come with him? The man had plenty of other options than sticking to the side of a social pariah like Maddox.

He was getting off topic.

It was close to evening when they’d arrived at the town's tavern hoping to get a few drinks and a hot meal. The tavern was crowded when they entered, the townsfolk having finished their work for the day had all come to the same spot it seemed to unwind and drink away their troubles. Even with the noise and general business Maddox's presence still managed to make a room go silent. It swept over the room like a wave as heads turned to look at them.

Maddox tensed, hands stinging as his nails dug into the palm of his clenched fists.

Next to him Cormac seemed at ease, like the attention didn't phase him. He supposed that must be true, the man seemed to thrive on any kind of attention, good and bad. Maddox watched his traveling companion walk through the crowd that seemed to part for him with each step. Cormac wasn't an intimidating man by any means. He was tall but had a lithe build. Long curly copper hair on a sharp face. If Maddox were to describe him he'd use pretty rather than handsome. It was the confidence he held. It was like he knew if he walked you'd move out of his way, as if that was simply how the world should be. Cormac had yet to be proven wrong.

Maddox followed behind, much taller than Cormac and with more muscle but in this room he didn't feel as powerful as the smaller man. He kept his head low, avoided eye contact with the room, as if trying to make himself smaller. You couldn't blame him really, the amount of times someone felt he had looked at them wrong and would start a fight was too many to count.

And he really wanted that bed.

I’ve got the rest of the hunt scene done now and most of Hattie’s scene too but instead of updating the demo with them I’m going to wait till the full childhood chapter is done and then do a bigger update. So the next update will have the option of who to spend the morning with, Jonah or Hattie instead of only the hunt, and then a moment with Theresa and the first glimpse of someone else 👀

This is referring to the text post from the other day right? I’m sorry if that’s put you off the character. Mads is kind of abrasive as a person. He’s very much in the headspace of oh people see me as a monster then I might as well be one instead of trying to change someone’s mind, so his gut reaction is to bite first before someone else can if that makes sense? But I do get that’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea and that’s fine too

All the ROs do end up traveling with MC so will be around in group parts but who you spend time with one on one etc, is up to you. So you can avoid any options with him or any of the other ROs you don’t really like.

Some actually useful Questions to get to know your OC better...

↳ What’s your character’s biggest fear and how does it screw up their relationships? Are they terrified of being abandoned? Do they push people away before they can leave? Are they scared of not being enough? Or being too much?

↳ What’s something they’re stupidly passionate about, and how does it drive their entire life? Like that thing they’d fight someone over. That core belief, hobby, or dream that lowkey fuels every decision they make (even when they say it doesn’t).

↳ What’s one childhood memory they can’t shake and how did it shape the way they see the world now?

↳ What weird habits or quirks make them totally them? Do they always talk with their hands? Hum when they’re nervous? Refuse to eat foods that touch?

↳ Do they have a secret talent no one expects? Like, are they surprisingly great at card tricks? Can they play the piano at concert level but never talk about it? Bake the world’s best banana bread?

↳ How do they handle failure?

↳ Who’s had the biggest impact on their life, and why? Friend, enemy, sibling, teacher, ex?

↳ What do they believe in, deep down? Like, what’s their moral compass? What lines won’t they cross? What kind of person are they trying to be, even if they mess up along the way?

↳ Is there an item or feature they’re weirdly attached to? A necklace? A hoodie? A scar? A pair of old sneakers?

↳ Do they have recurring dreams or nightmares? And what do those dreams mean? What are they trying not to deal with while awake?

The Love Interests

Kyliah (he/him) – The Seer Mysterious and enigmatic, Kyliah looks at you like you are his salvation—or his ruin. He has had visions of you long before your first meeting in the forest. His usual soft-spoken nature only makes the fierceness with which he protects you even more unexpected.

Remus (he/him) – The Knight Hardened by years of battle and bloodshed, Remus is determined to put an end to the King's carnage—no matter the cost. But when he meets you, he starts to question his convictions, and whether he's truly willing to pay the price peace demands.

Severin (he/him) – The Necromancer Stoic and commanding, Severin spends more time with the dead than the living. His interest in you is an exception to his self-imposed isolation. He would have you believe that his motivations are entirely selfish. But he knows things he shouldn't—about you, and the people that hunt you.

Axis (he/him) – The Dragon Rider An unapologetic flirt, the only thing that burns hotter than his touch is his dragon. Though he takes an immediate interest in you, Axis has his own reasons for offering to help you on your journey. But what does he hide behind his silver tongue and charming wit?
