I feel sad to admit that yesterday evening, I accidentally felt the need to point and prove to my parents that the Edinburgh choir had “token” Black people, and that I am sorry my parents were offended by how I immediately took the inherent lack of diversity as prejudice and not just coincidental. Yet I grew up and still live in an ethnically diverse part of the world, and seeing so many people with my skin tone ended up being jarring, yet I can’t control the population of any city.

And my parents told me that I was being upset for something out of my control.

Still, there are South Asians, East Asians, and Black people in Scotland.

Maybe I shouldn’t say that abut the Edinburgh choir even in a room full of South Asian Scots, unless they understand
