30 Days of Star Fox - Prompt 25
My favorite design for Wolf has to be the one from A Fox In Space!

Jokes aside, I already talked about this in a previous blog post. Yes, I love Wolf's Assault design. But if I were in charge of the franchise's character designs, I'd definitely go with his Brawl appearance.
Physically, this design for Wolf is the same as the one that was established in Assault. But it manages to do so much more with him. It makes him look tough and intimidating as he's supposed to be, it showcases how physically stronger he is compared to Fox, and it makes Wolf distinct from most other characters since he moves and acts in a way that makes him appear feral, further setting him apart from the more well-mannered Fox.
It's a fitting look for the character that served as a good addition to an already great design.

30 Days of Star Fox - Prompt 24
An easy question I have a simple answer to.
Compared to all of the other Star Fox members, I think Slippy had it easy. He had a real facelift in Star Fox 64, and his looks haven't faltered ever since. Although he's the only cast member who has a consistent track record in terms of physical appearance, I think there's a clear candidate for which design is the best.
Slippy's Star Fox Zero/modern design is what I consider to be his best. He looks cute and is incredibly expressive. I also like how his jacket has mechanical elements in it with the metal pipe rings and bolt shapes making it apparent that he's the team's mechanic.
His expressive nature is best shown in The Battle Begins.

Slippy's one of the most well-animated characters in the animation. He has such a goofy appeal to his movements, which are just as smooth as the other characters. Being the most emotive of the Star Fox team, his expressions are also varied yet packed with a sense of energy that fits both the character and the fast-paced nature of the short.
Slippy's 64 design is also great and is equally iconic. But it's clear that the Zero/modern design is what I consider his best. It just has better quirks that can't be matched even by the design in Star Fox 64.

30 Days of Star Fox - Prompt 23
This is another question I thought would be simple to answer.
I guess I was wrong when I said Fox was the hottest. Compared to a lot of the other characters, Falco happens to be the one with the least amount of physical changes to his design. I'd say that his Star Fox Zero/modern design is his best.
Like with Peppy, it takes what worked in his Star Fox 64 design and improves it. His sleeves are more loose, and his taller height allows for him to show off the new gear the team was equipped with alongside those luscious legs. It's a perfect evolution of the design.
I would have given more reasons for why I think Falco's Zero/modern design works so well. But after I thought about the question some more, I changed my mind. This other design is something I've gained a preference for.
Even though he shows up right at the game's climax, Falco's Star Fox Adventures design is probably my personal favorite, even more so than the already great Zero/modern design. There's just something about Falco's Adventures design that increases his level of coolness. Those leather clothes and the exposed shirt make him so attractive, and the spiked cufflets, headband, and shades give him a rough appearance that suits the lifestyle he took up after leaving Fox and the others.
Because Falco only shows up near the end of the game, it's hard to appreciate him and his new outfit. It's also a shame he never wears something like this again after this game, as his fashion sense managed to get the best of him for a while before he went back to basics four years later.
I would've loved for them to bring this design back for Falco. Maybe as a reference in a new game or even as an alternate costume in Smash Bros. Whatever the case, the Star Fox Adventures design will always be the best he's ever looked.

A jackpot of Pokémon production material.
As someone who owns an anime script myself, I'm kind of jealous of how much love was put into the presentation of this one from Pokémon Advanced. There's a cover with unique art, AND it comes in a nice little book? The script I have is just a loose set of papers that don't have any of the style or care that was put into this. Then again, that was an early draft for an episode, while this is a copy of the final script. This leads into a bigger mystery if previous or later sagas of the anime used covers like this for their scripts.
The storyboards are also pretty cool. Right from looking at them, I can already tell the first comes from the season 2 episode Snack Attack! while the second is from In The Knicker of Time!. Even though I can barely read these since I can't make out Japanese sentences that include Kanji, I can already see the scenes from the finalized version of the episode play out in my head.

I think Pokemon anime settei (model sheets) are pretty cool, as well old original production cells and scripts… The fourth expensive and rare documentation for the anime are the storyboard booklets. I like these too so much, it’s awesome how I can quickly recognize the scenes above - I mean who wouldn’t love having one of these ;_;

This is probably one of the funniest parts of the episode. Everyone else is angry or panicking, but Hound and Watson are indifferent. The real punchline is the exchange between Watson and the captain's evil brother.
This is definitely the most craziest climax in an episode of Sherlock Hound.

30 Days of Star Fox - Prompt 22
This was a lot harder to think about than it should have been...
Compared to all of the other characters, Peppy had it the worst when it came to redesigns. Almost all of his designs in the 2000s were pretty bad.
I don't know why, but he just doesn't look right. Maybe it's the way his face looks. The mustache also doesn't help as it makes the design even more atrocious. Peppy wouldn't get another good design until the 2010s came with the release of Star Fox Zero.
And they've been rolling with it ever since.
I would say Peppy's Star Fox Zero/modern design is arguably his best. It takes the design from Star Fox 64 and enhances it with modern 3D visuals. I love his cute rabbit face, and his big, bushy eyebrows do a good job of showing his age.
The way he's animated in The Battle Begins also shows how expressive the design can be, and how fluid even the slightest of his movements are.
The pre-Adventures designs are also pretty good, especially the one from 64. But this one just feels a bit too similar to that in terms of appearance. Which is why it's hard to compare them without talking about how the 64 design feels static and isn't as expressive. The modern/Zero design is what completely perfects Peppy. It definitely makes up for a nearly decade-long run of terrible designs.

It must feel nice to brush Braixen's soft, fluffy fox tail. The only other thing that needs brushing is that ear fluff. I bet the tail would feel so comfortable to rest on.

I already talked about this episode in an older blog post. There's a reason why Braixen was so drawn to her twig. If a Farfetch'd can't call itself a Pokémon if it loses its leek, then what does that mean for other Pokémon who attack using weird items?
Even 11 or 10 years after this episode's premiere, I still remember the main theme and message.

30 Days of Star Fox - Prompt 21
We've finally arrived at my favorite set of questions. As my favorite character, I'd take preference over Fox any day. But there's one design that beats the rest for me.
Fox's Adventures outfit is what I consider his best. It takes the design that was established in Star Fox 64 and enhances it. It keeps the look of the standard uniform, but the new boots and accessories make him look cool and geared for adventure. The vest and sleeveless jacket also allow him to show off his furry muscles and serve as a sign that he's ready to tussle with anyone standing in his way.
Another thing I like about Fox's design in this game is that it makes him more expressive.
This is probably the most expressive I've seen Fox in a Star Fox game. It really adds to the writing they gave him in this game and makes him feel more lively than in any of the games before or after. It strikes a perfect balance that helps bring Fox to new hardware.

30 Days of Star Fox - Prompt 20
Headcanons? I've seen a few of them before, but I don't really focus much on them for Star Fox. That's not to say I don't have any.
Slippy creates video games in his spare time.
We've seen this near the end of Farewell, Beloved Falco where he plays one of them with Fox. There's also the animation, "The Battle Begins", where we see Falco playing another one. It's never stated that Slippy made it, but I like to imagine he did.
2. (This one is based on another headcanon by this user on Reddit.) Fay is the Star Fox member who's taken the least seriously.
She watches cartoons, plays video games, collects plushies, and seems like a super emotive person. Coupled with her young, outgoing personality, the others constantly treat her like she's younger than she actually is. That's why she trains hard to show the rest of the team (especially Fox) that she's capable of taking on all the serious tasks they can do.
3. Peppy is Fox's legal guardian.
Fox's dad is presumed dead, and he has no canonical mother outside of the Nintendo Power comic. With nowhere else to go at his young age, I imagine Peppy took him in as his legal guardian and took care of him until Fox decided to become a pilot and inherit his father's business. It's because of this decision that Peppy could have been the first member Fox brought into the team.
4. Sabre still exists within the Star Fox canon.
Sabre was the original male lead of Dinosaur Planet before he was replaced by Fox once the game transitioned into a Star Fox game for the GameCube. Even though Sabre was scrapped from Star Fox Adventures, that doesn't mean he might not exist within the Lylat system. During the lead up to the events of Star Fox Adventures, both him and Krystal were separated and forced to carry on without each other. Maybe Sabre lives on a far-off planet, or maybe he traverses the galaxy for his own reasons. Whatever the case, the two had a tight relationship and would definitely recognize each other if they ever crossed paths again.
5. Panther is a hopeless romantic.
Even though he has a thing for Krystal, Panther still goes after other women. When he sees someone he likes, he'll try to use his natural charms to win their hearts, even if they're already in a relationship. Most of the time, the ladies all fall for him while others turn him down. (Probably because they're not up to dating anyone at the moment or because they're already aware of his criminal background) This annoys Wolf, and he has had to drag him away multiple times before he can even spend any time with them so he can focus on his job.

30 Days of Star Fox - Prompt 19
I'm not really fond of these types of things. It can be cool to imagine what your dream game or movie might be. But it becomes a problem when those dreams turn into expectations, which causes the fanbase to throw a hissy fit and riot because a piece of media didn't turn out the way they wanted it to. That's why I'm treating this answer as nothing more than a fantasy.
The first thing I'd want in a new Star Fox is for Fay and Miyu to be added back to the franchise as main characters.
Star Fox Zero pretty much proved to be a fresh start for the franchise, as it seems elements from games starting from Star Fox Adventures are off the table. That's why I have a strong belief Krystal won't be brought back outside of things like Super Smash Bros. She wasn't anywhere in Star Fox Zero, and she has no presence in Starlink: Battle For Atlas or its DLC. At this point, it's safe to assume that Nintendo has no plans to bring her back given the new canon they've went forward with since Zero. That's why this would be a great opportunity to put Miyu and Fay in a new game.
Besides adding more female representation to the franchise, they'd be a huge part of the main cast as members of Star Fox and would have a sizeable amount of focus during the story. In terms of gameplay, Fay could help heal you while Miyu temporarily covers for you by shooting down nearby enemies, especially if you're low on health. There was nothing wrong with their backgrounds in Star Fox 2. They could use the same ones while fitting them into the narrative of the modern canon.
And it's not like Nintendo can't use Fay and Miyu. They gave Star Fox 2 an official release and made it part of the Super Nintendo Enrertainment System Online library, allowing more people to access the game and learn about these characters. They can't continue to pretend they were never part of the franchise anymore now that Star Fox 2 has more notoriety. That's why they could easily bring the two back as permanent members of the cast.
If 6 characters are too much to manage throughout each level of the game, then you can just pick whichever 4 you want to take with you. Just like in Star Fox 2 or even Assault's battle mode, each character has a specific stat that sets them apart from the others. Fox, being the only character the player has control of, is the all-round one, while someone like Falco or Miyu can be faster at the cost of poor armor. If one of your teammates has taken too much damage during a level, you can swap them out with another character so they can repair their ship once you beat another level. This adds more strategy to the game as some characters excel at one level while others might struggle with another.
The gameplay would obviously stick to the franchise's tried and true on-rails shooter formula but it could build off of Star Fox Zero by having certain moments or even entire levels themed around exploration and puzzle solving using the Walker or the Gyrowing. Given the scope of the game, the levels could be separated into missions. Each planet or area has a set number of missions that end off with a boss with some levels being set on a linear path and others being larger and force you to take your time and explore. You could even visit the Great Fox on the map to organize your party for a level.
The last thing I'd want from a new Star Fox is a Battle Mode. We haven't had a real Battle Mode since Star Fox 64 3D, and all the multiplayer features in Star Fox Guard are tied to playing through enemy waves others have created. (Which is equivalent to how the only ounce of multiplayer in Super Mario Maker is playing courses made by other players) What I'd like is a standard VS Mode where you engage in dogfights with other players with the goal of being the last man standing. I'd also want the same variety that was present in Star Fox 64. But considering all the different vehicles and the Walker mode of the Arwing, it's probably for the best that the arenas be designed in a way so that players can't stay out of range from others during each match.
And that's what I'd want from a new Star Fox game. If the story revolved around Andross' return or even a new threat, I'd be perfectly fine with that. I just hope the length of the game isn't too short or too long. It should strike a good balance of playtime where it could take you a few days to beat.

30 Days of Star Fox - Prompt 18
I don't really care that much when it comes to shipping. I tend to focus on the characters, with romance being a rarity unless there's a good enough chemistry between certain characters to make a relationship happen. That's not to say I don't have a specific OTP for something like Star Fox.

Ever since I played Star Fox 2, I would always play as Fox and Fay. In recent times, though, I've started to ship them a bit. I imagine Fay would be head over heels for Fox and would constantly do things to win his heart, with Fox being hesitant with the affection as he doesn't feel ready to enter a relationship yet. (He still has a whole team of 6 to take care of and plenty more missions to deal with) Fay has the heart of a girl, while Fox has the heart of a young man. Some day, Fox might feel the same way Fay does for him, and the two will start to date.
Personally, I think this ship works better than the one between Fox and Krystal. I always knew they had something in the games and are the most shipped characters in the franchise besides Fox and Wolf. But when you look at their ages in Star Fox Adventures.
This just comes off as being very problematic. It gets even worse when you realize Krystal was about 11-15 during the events of Star Fox 64. If Fox were 21 or 23 in this game, I could have excused all of it. (He was even 22 in Farewell, Beloved Falco) But a 26-year-old trying to get with a 19-year-old just sounds so wrong to me.
Since Star Fox 2 is part of the original canon, Fay should be around Fox's age. The exact time frame between the original Star Fox and Star Fox 2 was never given. But considering that Fox was originally 25 in the first game, Fay should probably be around 23-24 in the same age group.

30 Days of Star Fox - Prompt 17
Star Fox OCs? Most of my life has been dedicated to Pokémon. So all the OCs I have are reserved for that franchise.
If I were to create an OC for Star Fox, they'd be way too similar to Fox. He'd be the newest recruit of Star Fox, a pilot aiming to become the best at what he does and would also be a fox. The character would come off as unoriginal, but he could work if handled correctly.

There was a fan character created by a Deviantart user named FrancisKings (who also went by lunaticpanda and pkultimaga) named Frank Jackal Kings, who fit pretty much all the traits I listed. From what I can remember, Frank was a guy who had a tough past due to losing his mother during the events of Star Fox 64 (the Lylat Wars) and proved to be as good a pilot as Falco or even Fox after joining the Star Fox team. I'd love to talk more about Frank, but all the works featuring him (including the fan comic he plays a big role in) are all lost. The above images are the only remaining traces of the character that can be found on the internet. (As well as whatever could be salvaged from archived web pages.)
I really love Frank. He has a good design and is pretty well written. If I ever wanted to make an OC for Star Fox, Frank would be a good inspiration for him.

I think this is my favorite line in all of Star Fox:
Katt: Beautiful! I could kiss you for that!
I was young, and that line solidified my love for Katt. Her appearance in the Farewell, Beloved Falco manga only strengthened my love for her. I think a similar line from another source made me fall for another character:

30 Days of Star Fox - Prompt 15
Even though I'm a fan of Star Fox, I don't actually own any merchandise. (Which is why some will label me as a fake fan or a poser.)
Considering the small amount of merchandise made for this franchise, there are only a few of them that interest me.
I've always wanted this promotional statue. I'd place it near my front door if I could. But it's incredibly rare; I can barely find it for sale anywhere online. It's probably something that's out of reach for me anyway, since the only surviving statues might belong to collectors who aren't willing to sell them.
There's also this Arwing set-up that had a Wii U Gamepad hooked up It was only used during one event leading up to the release of Star Fox Zero. (I think it was E3. But it could be another event) It looked so cool and turned the game into a true arcade space-shooter. Sadly, no one's ever been able to spot one of these, and it's probably been destroyed right after the event ended.
What I'd like the most is this plush of Fox. He's cute, has excellent proportions, and is perfectly huggable. He'd go perfectly with plushies of Falco and Peppy. (But no Slippy for some reason) It's also something I can afford that's easy to find.

30 Days of Star Fox - Prompt 14
This sounds like an interesting question. Star Fox and Star Wolf are both cool teams with equally cool members. But like with most other things concerning the characters, my choice becomes complicated given what's supposed to be canon and what isn't. To make things less confusing, I'll talk about each team as if all members from each game were still part of them. (Fay, Miyu, and Krystal as part of Star Fox's lineup, and Algy and Panther for Star Wolf.)
In terms of preference, it's Star Fox all the way. Compared to Star Wolf, it's obvious the team prevails in manpower. There's also a better balance of gender with 4 boys and 3 girls.
I also think I'd fit in better with Star Fox. Realistically, Star Wolf seems a bit too rough for me, and Wolf wouldn't be the ideal boss to work for. Panther would be the only reason for me to stick around the team since I can be closer to him. He also seems like a pretty smooth guy who knows how to handle tight conversations with a guy like me.
Fox is super supportive of his teammates and is just a cool guy to be around. Slippy and Fay are outgoing and are the friendliest in the group. I'd probably get along well with Fay since she's the character I relate to the most. If I were around Krystal, telepathic conversations would be really beneficial for me since I tend to talk a lot inside my head. (Especially when I'm dealing with anxiety and I can't breathe) Although I'm not sure chatting that way would still be easy since I'm a bit of a chatterbox when I'm thinking.
All in all, I'd go for Star Fox since the team members are super supportive and I can get along with at least most of them.

30 Days of Star Fox - Prompt 13
My first Star Fox game is probably one most people wouldn't have expected.
I have a pretty lengthy history with Star Fox 64. I never played the original Star Fox on the SNES, and I never heard about Star Fox 2 since it was never officially released. While I was at a hotel one summer, I saw that they had a Nintendo 64 controller hooked up to a TV. When I pressed one of the buttons, a menu appeared that allowed you to select a Nintendo 64 game to play, with Star Fox 64 being one of them. Sadly, I wasn't allowed to play it since it cost money.
After I returned home in September, I stopped by my babysitter's house and saw that there was a Nintendo 64 and GameCube lying around with a ton of games for them. Most of the games she had for the Nintendo 64 were ones I recognized from the rental version available at hotels at the time like Super Smash Bros. and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. One of those games I was really excited to try was Star Fox 64.
I didn't have much of an impression of the game at that point, but the presentation did manage to capture my attention. The Lylat system seemed pretty vast and interesting with all the unique environments that make up each planet. Even the space stages like Meteo and the Sector areas have unique elements that help give them their own identities.
The game wasn't hard to get through. I think it was one of the first games at the time where I managed to figure out a few secrets. (I'm still not sure how I could get to the Hard path so easily...) That's not to say the game wasn't challenging. I lost lives more times than I could count and got my fair share of game overs.

The characters were the best part of the game. Fox was my personal favorite. I just thought he was a cool character with all the things he says and does. (He was just as cool as Sonic to me back then. Maybe even a little more) He never seemed all that snarky when I still played the game on the Nintendo 64 and came off as a more serious guy with a difficult past. The only sentence he utters after beating Venom II still resonates with me:
Nothing... Nothing's wrong.
That's not to say he can be as witty as the other characters.
The ending with Fox and the others running under the sunset was one of the best sights in the game, and only proved to me how cool the entire Star Fox team was. My love for the Star Fox franchise went beyond just the game; I became an instant fan. Not too long after playing Star Fox 64, I got into Super Smash Bros. Melee on the GameCube and loved Fox's updated appearance in that game. He actually had some more detail to him that was never captured in either Star Fox 64 or the original Smash Bros. He had such a serious and captivating face and was a total menace on the battlefield with the attacks he could use and how fast he moved. (You could imagine my surprise when I discovered he was the best character in the game)
Like I said earlier, Star Fox 64 was the only Star Fox game I knew about. It also doesn't help that it's the one Nintendo likes to reference and re-release so much. Super Smash Bros. Brawl had a demo of the game you could try out, and it's available on the Wii Virtual Console. So for most of my childhood, Star Fox 64 was the only Star Fox game I ever knew about, with most of my exposure to the characters also coming from Super Smash Bros. (I still think Brawl's Wolf design is dreamy.)
It wasn't until I discovered what the internet was actually capable of that I was able to learn more about the franchise. There were games released for consoles I owned, like the GameCube and DS, that I never caught wind of, even from friends or TV commercials. While looking up cheats for Star Fox 64, I learned that it was possible to unlock things like an Expert Mode and even the ability to play as the characters themselves outside of their vehicles. Outside of getting high scores, this was the biggest factor behind the game's replayability to me after I bought it for the Wii U.
I don't know if I would have ever gotten into this franchise if I didn't grow up playing Star Fox 64.
