So. I had an idea for a new OC and a new verse, and I decided to try and write it
Because having so many uncompleted works makes me feel bad, I decided to plan a small thing, three chapters long, and only post it if I get it all done
I am halfway through it and I am very excited!
After I’m done with the three chapters, I may still work on more things on this verse. I have a bunch of ideas. But right now I am focusing on these three chapters

Why is it necessary that a piece of art "condemns" or "normalizes" something. Is it not enough for art to say "here are some fucked up people in some fucked up situations for your enjoyment"? The art doesn't have to judge them and neither do you. It's for your enjoyment.

Something really weird happened today
I was reading whump fics on ao3, as always, and I found a one shot that is basically the same as a scene from the main plot of The Story. There was one line that was basically identical
I have actually written this scene down. Back in 2012. In ptbr. I never published it anywhere and I think I have only ever showed it to one person. I never translated it into English
The fanfic was posted in 2020. It’s for a fandom I’m not part of. I don’t know the author
I didn’t think for a second it was plagiarism, because besides how impossible it would be, the similarities clearly come from the fact that both me and the author seem to enjoy the same brand of whump. I think we may be whump soulmates
But it is so weird in a good way. The fic is really well written, and a bunch of people seem to like it from its numbers so. I’m not trying to say something I write would or should get the same numbers, I am a different writer with a different way of writing, but when it comes to tropes and stuff, this is a great reminder that there are way more people out there with a similar taste to mine than I think when I am struggling to find something interesting to read lol

five scenes to characterize your whumpee
Where the reader first witnesses how your whumpee reacts to pain:
Do they take it calm, with no reaction? Do they curse, yell, punch a wall? You can take this reaction further later, when they reach their limit, either by intensifying it (a violent whumpee screams and tears at restraints) or by reversing it (an aloof one breaks and sobs).
Where your whumpee has no control:
How do they react to having no choice? Do they give up and go limp against restrains, do they push and talk back and snap just because the pain is something they can cause?
Where your whumpee regains some control:
What do they do with it? Do they cradle it close and hide it away, or do they take the chance to try and escape?
Where your whumpee cares for themselves in some way:
How do they handle themselves when there's no one else there? Do they sob, do they mindlessly stitch themselves up, how do they act out of the public eye?
Where someone cares for your whumpee:
And the reverse--how do they handle someone caring for them? Are they stiff and unnatural, do they push away and go stone cold? Or do they suddenly relax, do they let themselves feel things, leaning into the caretaker's side and crying softly?

Attention Whump Community!
Clogging disability tags is a massive problem that we need to address. Many tags, especially those surrounding permanent injuries, paralysis, vision loss and certain illnesses have become unusable due to being flooded with unrelated things. Yes, that includes your writing. Those tags are not for you. It's isolating, frustrating and depressing to try finding a community and other people who share your issues but all that comes up is whump, fandom shit, gifs, headcanons, etc.
I'm newly paralyzed. I have looked at many tags surrounding paralysis, trying to find support, a community, anything of people struggling with the same thing. Nothing. There's barely anything for us in the general disabilty tags. I am BEGGING you to understand and recognize how AWFUL it is.
So, I have a proposition. A tag you can and should use exclusively for disability content in whump writing. Not any other tag surrounding disability, lest you'll clog it up.
#disabled whumpee
It's tempting to use more specific tags, I get it. Due to being in the whump community myself I know #medical whump is already a tag. You have those tags. Use them. Don't use the disability tags. Don't clog up the few spaces us disabled people have.

Mini Whump Prompt 118
Vampiric Caretaker has had enough of their fellow vampire's treatments of whumpee, and went out of their way to rescue them. Now to get them properly recovered and sent back to safely human territories.
They thought it would be simple. Sure! Whumpee was quite the odd human, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary... until they walked in on whumpee one day and the human proceeded to pull on the collar of their shirt until the neck and collarbone were fully exposed.
"What are you doing?", Caretaker couldn't contain their confusion.
"Offering you to feed.", They explained so nonchalantly, growing nervous at Caretaker's silence, "You've been so good to me, and I never see you feed. I thought- I thought that you might want- as a thanks of course."
"What the fu-"

super cool when a whumpee’s head is lifted up by a handful of their hair. preferably harshly and uncomfortably, if not outright painfully

I love when in a “Whumpee thinks caretaker is their new whumper” situation, the moment when a bigger threat shows up. Like, they’re terrified of Caretaker, but Whumpee will take anything to avoid whatever the other threat is, and they’d build up enough trust to run to Caretaker for help.
Cause then, Caretaker gets to help! Gets to show Whumpee that they’re safe! And Whumpee gets to realize that their risk paid off tenfold!

A “whumpee thinks caretaker is new master” scenario/prompt:
Caretaker has been teaching Whumpee that they don’t have to apologize for every single harmless thing they do and they make some progress. What happens when Whumpee does something that is not harmless and that has bad consequences? Like saying something that hurts Caretaker or a friend, or purposely breaking something in a moment of defiance, or a superpowered or monster Whumpee actually hurts someone. Do they understand the difference, at this point of their recovery? Do they think Caretaker won’t be gentle to them anymore, starting with demanding apologies? Do they immediately go back to their older mentality, undoing all the progress they made?

I love super strong/jacked caretakers with weak or tiny whumpees, especially with the Whumpee-thinks-caretaker-is-their-new-master trope.
The whole “I just have to pray that they mean it when they say they’re not going to hurt me because it would be so easy for them”
“They could kill me without even trying.”
“They’re only being so merciful because they know I’m too weak to fight back so they don’t need to waste their time…”
And of course the caretaker-uses-their-strength-for-good and beats whumpers ass, and suddenly whumpee realizing that, yes, caretaker was a formidable master, but…a protective one too.

i really love when a character, calmly and completely earnestly, is like i’m not important, i’m no one really, just a blade that people use and throw away. no one remembers me for long after i leave their life. and then you look at the evidence and it turns out that every person who meets them becomes permanently obsessed with them, for better and for worse, and the character has somehow completely missed this fact

Tiny whumpee, barely the size of your palm.
Their struggles are like the flap of butterfly wings. It takes hardly any effort at all to pin them down. Hell, if you weren't as careful as you were, you could crush them by accident.
You can keep them where you want them with something as simple as a few rubber bands. Tie them up and stare down at them, watching them tremble, helpless. Like a bug with its wings pinned.
You could do anything to them, and they know it.

(cw: starvation)
Merfolk whumpee that’s a carnivore. They’ve got poisonous spines, or shark-like teeth, or a jaw meant for breaking bones. Their instinct is to chase down anything that moves. It’s just the way they were born. They can’t change it.
But the whumper knows very little about merfolk. They think this is absolutely barbaric. They think it’s the whumpee’s fault. They force the whumpee to eat seaweed, refusing to let them near any sort of meat. “It’s not right!” they say. “Mermaids aren’t supposed to behave like that!” They have an overly idealistic view of how sea creatures live. Maybe the whumpee is kept in a bathtub, or some other cramped space, and the lack of movement and their hunger is making them restless…
They’re just waiting until the day their captor leans in close enough to reach.
