sugar shock, a poem by me
last line taken from @straycatj 🐈
ID given below
[Image ID: black text on a white background. there is a watermark reading @snoppy in the right corner. the title reads “sugar shock”. the text below reads:
“fly on the motherfucking wall
at the birth of the cosmos
and the wall is 4 minutes real
and the fly can hardly believe it
is either. red and messy
and stinging sort of sweet
with the moldy bread smell
the sugarmaking bacteria
for the very first time learning how
to break, to make a fist, to
love something through death
the clouds bubbling and doubling
like a tumour, grasping onto anything
with opposable thumbs saying
i’m so glad you’re here hold me
until the rain comes. colour leaching
into the dark as sudden and ruddy
as a champagne cork, flying
out till howmuchever you can
imagine + 1. everyone can feel it, feel
the bubbly on their tongue or
the spattered bloodburns.
the sun is a big star but
he is small among his siblings
small enough to only get the
burns not the bubbly and
years later i am drawing the curtains
to my bedroom to hide
away from him
going fuck this i’m
going to sleep warmly beside her”
