*pokes head in, looks around* Hiya! I just finished binging WYCS and I have a query!! Did Patton ever get to open his shop again? After Virgil's identity is revealed to the public, his shop is just kinda...forcefully closed (he attempts to reopen and is bombarded with paparazzi) and then we never hear from it again. And a big part of Patton's motivations for what he did early on in the story was building up his own life not from Logan or Roman's influence. His life after Roman recommended his shop is never the same, and that's worsened by Virgil's identity being revealed...But does he ever get his shop back? He just kinda lets himself jump off the deepend after getting involved with this entire Thing, so I'm curious!! Oh, and also, what did Patton see when he was hit with Virgil's Propensity? That's wiggling in my head too.

Also also the reveal of Patton having a plant-based propensity was so good <3

......Maybe it's a little obvious which character I had the most fun focusing on in the story lmao,,,,,,,

Hello!! Thanks for the questions!!

I think Patton absolutely opens up his shop again after What You Can Stand. He probably waits a bit for things to die down, and Virgil definitely doesn’t work there anymore, and it probably becomes a lot more popular, but it’s Patton’s dream and he’s not giving up on it. He just got overwhelmed at first, but I think he would eventually learn to embrace the new attention to the shop, and I think he’d focus on redirecting that attention from “Omg Nightmare worked here” to “Hey the drinks and vibes and atmosphere at this place are really great”. However I do think he’d add a Nightmare specialty drink to the menu. For fun.

To answer your second question, this is kind of implied but never directly said, but what Patton sees when hit by Virgil’s propensity is just like. Hundreds and hundreds of spiders. Since he’s canonically deathly afraid of spiders, I figured it would be fitting, and not everybody’s greatest fear is as abstract as Roman’s “I do something wrong and my parents are disappointed in me”.

hey hi hello! have you thought about writing any more for the wycs universe? even silly oneshots or anything? or are you happy with where it is and to let it just vibe as it is?

Hey, sorry for the late response!

I’ve definitely thought about it, I have a partially-written prequel thing that I never finished that tells the story of how Logan and Patton met and eventually got married, which I may finish someday (or maybe even release an incomplete version if people want that?), but other than that I’m pretty happy with where I left things. I still think about it all the time though, and the characters and world will always have a special place in my heart, so I’m always happy to answer any questions or anything like that!

Also, there are a few fics in the Related Works category for What You Can Stand, written by some talented fans of the story, which I’d highly recommend checking out if you haven’t already!

FINALLY got around to taking these photos but i finished my cosplay of virgil’s “Nightmare” costume from @manyfandomsonelog ‘s fic “what you can stand” on ao3 (i say it alot but please go read it if you haven’t it’s one of my favourite fics and i love it so much log is an amazingly talented writer)
