Sad part is, these offended Lonce stans had the gall to say “KeItHs StAnS aRe MoRe ActiVe in ThE dIsCOursE” when it’s them who filled the tags of their perfect Lonce, cross-tag and will demonize other characters just so their fav can step on them and be in the spotlight

is it just me or lately everyone’s been ragging on keith stans? more than usual? keith’s my fav and i feel like at this point everytime someone talks abt keith, ppl get angry and say that his stans just as bad as lnce stans when someone points out keith’s struggles ;;

:)) anyway keith is a fantastic character and expressing love for him and dismay for his treatment the past few seasons is not an attack on any other character and it’s utterly unnecessary to knock down keith to prop up anyone else. in fact, it does a disservice to the leaps and bounds in characterization Some Other Characters have undergone. lance’s progress in this series is defined by his ability to see his self-worth independent of anyone else and to stop comparing himself to keith in particular. love for keith is not an attack on lance, and saying the team mistreated him in season 4 is not some bizarro-land argument. it’s in the dialogue, it’s in the animation, it’s an explicit part of keith’s arc that he feels alienated from the team because of it.  

he doesn’t see it as mistreatment and it doesn’t make them villains? it’s just a disconnect on a fundamental level. everyone was dealing with keith to the best of their ability, but he’s complicated and they weren’t successful. that’s part of their character arc, too. it doesn’t make them bad characters or people–everyone needs to grow more. it’s showing this team still has weaknesses it to overcome before it come together in earnest, which is good because we’re only halfway through the series. i hope when the time comes, keith will meet them halfway with his own character growth.

i just don’t get why this is even a salt topic when it’s a simple statement of fact. people’s blindness to this shows a knee-jerk aversion to keith. it’s like the one-sided rivalry between him and lance and this projection that lance came to the series fully formed and without a clear arc of growth, even though the maker’s of the series have literally said that red’s acceptance of lance was dependent on his growth past that rivalry and growing respect for keith as a leader. anyway. that’s my take on it.

Has been imprisoned with no reasonable hope of seeing home again

Was forced to fight and kill for his captor’s entertainment

Was maimed to the point of losing his arm and having his hair go white from stress

Suffers flashbacks from his time in captivity

Has lost memories from the trauma of all that happened to him

Went seven days without food or water, nearly dying from dehydration alone drifting in space before being rescued at the last possible moment

Was rejected by the Lion he worked so hard to bond with

Keith

Doesn’t know why his mother wasn’t there for him growing up

Was orphaned when he lost his father

Lost the one person that “never gave up on him” to Kerberos

Was booted from the garrison in the aftermath

Discovered part of his heritage is the enemy aliens that have conquered half the galaxy

Is rejected by a friend for a heritage he never knew about and couldn’t control

Loses Shiro a second time, and searches for him every day for months

Has to take over Shiro’s position even though it feels like giving up on Shiro to him

Distances himself from the team by joining the BoM, so that Shiro can have his lion back. Essentially giving up his role as paladin

Thinks killing himself by a ramming a shield is a fair trade to save Voltron

Lance

Has a loving large family, who he is Word of God the spoiled youngest child

Was promoted to fighter class despite not making the cut, because someone else dropped out

Has two great friends who joined Voltron with him

Is never called out on what he says to others, even when he calls a mourning man a liar in front of the entire team

When his lion won’t open up, someone is there to rebuild his confidence and he is immediately offered a new lion

When there are six paladins for five lions, no one ever suggests, even among themselves, he lose his lion, despite canonically being the worst pilot among the pilots. When he brings it up, someone is there again to assure him he doesn’t have to worry, and he’s now completely secure in his position of the Red Lion with Keith leaving the team.

The Princess he has a massive crush on, has warmed up to him. Openly complimenting him in group conversations, and never joining in on the teasing.

He’s gets attention from various alien women, which he likes, snapping pictures and signing autographs with Voltron fangirls, and getting a kiss from a beautiful mermaid

Lance Fans

OMG! Can’t you see that Lance has minor insecurities, just like literally the entire human race! Why doesn’t everybody drop everything and coddle this poor baby!

real quick before I go to bed, why is it that that one time Lance vaguely mentioned not feeling like he had a place in the team you all blew up and made that his entire character but when Keith literally tried to kill himself via flaming sun because he felt like the team didn’t need him and his life wasn’t worth as much as getting the mission done you all decided he’s either “irresponsible” or just plain invisible?

Nobody even tried to stop him from leaving.

His biggest fear is rejection.

His found family let him walk out the door with one (1) sappy hug, mere moments after ragging on him.

But god forbid the spotlight ever leave Lance “I was sad once” McClain.

In regards to that Klance post you made, I think people don't like Allurance because it kind of ignores the potential for a healthy gay pairing and instead pairs a Lance who has done nothing but flirt with Allura and pair him with Allura when she has no interest in him. That can be harmful for little kids to see

can we please stop with this ridiculous mentality that something is automatically more healthy just because it’s gay? why is a straight pairing with two brown main characters suddenly not as important as a gay pairing that isn’t even romantically supported by the canon source material? 

klance isn’t healthy gay representation. it’s not even gay representation. it’s not canon. keith and lance show no romantic interest in each other. we don’t even know if lance and keith are attracted to men. now that’s not to say it can’t be a meaningful queer fandom ship for you (trust me i’d sell my kidneys for a good klance slow burn) but to shit on allurance because it somehow undermines an m/m pairing that isn’t even canon is bullshit. and, real talk, we’re also ignoring how many popular fandom klance tropes are build upon aggression, codependency, and fetishization, which is the opposite of healthy. 

people have some nerve saying “but allura doesn’t like lance back!” when lance and keith show literally zero romantic interest in each other in the show. does allura have a crush on lance right now in the show? probably not, but you have to at the very least appreciate how far lance and allura have come ever since allura got the blue lion. you have to appreciate that season 4 finale. you have to appreciate that lance not only thinks allura is pretty, but values her for her strength and her heart. you have to appreciate that allura is gaining a newfound respect for lance and is beginning to form a charming friendship and partnership with him. that’s canon. that’s objective. that’s happening in the show right now. that’s exciting. 

you have to be doing some serious reaching to dare call that “harmful.” lance isn’t forcing himself on allura and making her like him. they’re friends. they’re partners. they trust each other. they rely on each other. they’re growing alongside each other. if allurance isn’t your vibe that’s fine but don’t you dare call allurance “harmful” because you’re mad it’s getting more screen time than klance is. 

klance isn’t “better” or “healthier” because it’s gay. allurance is a pairing with two brown main characters, which is so rare to find in animation. let people enjoy it without making it seem like the show writers are spoon feeding children misogyny.
