Time to say goodbye
We’ve finally decided to abandon this blog.
We both had a great time (albeit stressful at some points) creating and moderating the survey and we really hoped we helped in some way
We hope the rest of your 20gayteen is wonderful as can be 💜😄💙💜💕✨🏳️🌈🏳️🌈

Wait I’m confused, what’s wrong with the lesbian flags that everyone already uses like the pink one adapted from the lipstick lesbian flag and the purple battle axe triangle one from the 90s? Did I miss something?
The creator of the lipstick flag is racist, ableist and biphobic amongst other things, many lesbians just don’t like the flag and don’t feel connected to it. Plus it’s very complicated and hard to make merch for so we get left out a lot and when we are included it sometimes costs more
The labrys has a few issues, the biggest one for me is that it was created by a journalist guy who wanted to avoid getting copyright, but there’s also the (controversial) issues of it using nazi imagery (the black triangle) and it being popular with TERFs. Whether these are issues or not is debated but clearly it is important to some
-Cas
#sorry if this seems rushed#ask#anon#i think its strange when people say the labrys is from the 90s#it was created in 1999#so technically it was the 90s but it got most of its popularity during the early 2000s and even them that isnt much#mod cas

just wanna say that it kinda doesn't matter what the flag actually is, i mean i like the idea of ditching one made by someone with like ignorant opinions and i love the Meanings of the colors of the flag like not saying anything about that, but a pride flag really serves no purpose if it's not recognizable and common. Like. I think we need to focus on popularizing the new flag if anything's ever going to come of it, not just discussing the best version or other stuff. tldr more exposure needed.
Yep! Definitely, while this survey was helpful what really matters is popularity and exposure

My new flag design ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Top: the flag
Middle left: meanings
Middle right: colour guide
Bottom left: butch
Bottom right: femme
The flag also has a sub-meaning of being a representive of butch, femme and the spectrum of lesbians with different presentations in between

hey guys!! ive seen lots of discourse lately about the lesbian flag, and I decided that I might as well make my own design!! the main issues have been either that a flag looks too butch/femme, would be too hard/expensive to print, or was created by an exclusionist/inclusionist/etc. well im tryin to solve this issue with my flag!! there are less colors to make it easier for merch, the colors are fairly balanced between masculine, feminine, and neutral colors, and im not an inclusionist OR an exclusionist!! this flag means a lot to me and if some people were to use it (with credit <33) it would mean the world to me!! also!! here’s the color meanings!!
dark purple: butch lesbians
lilac: history of lesbians, how lesbians/sapphics used to give lilacs to women they had romantic feelings for
white: has two meanings: A- traditionally unconventional lesbians, like lesbians of color, aro/ace-spec lesbians, disabled lesbians, neurodivergent lesbians, trans/nb lesbians, basically all of the lesbians you never see in the media. the second meaning is the purity of lesbians, how being a lesbian isn’t inherently sexual, and there’s nothing wrong with being a lesbian.
light purple: femme lesbians!!
id greatly appreciate it if this could get lots of reblogs!! I worked hard on. it and I feel its a good way to represent our community!! im just gonna tag some popular blogs in hopes of getting some rbs
@letters-to-lgbt-kids @official-lesbian-flag @sapphicflags @which-lesbian-flag @newlesbianprideflag
also!! butch/femme/dark/pastel/POC versions under the cut!!

Hey, I don’t mean for this to sound rude in any way, but would it upset either of you if someone wanted to make a survey of their own? Mostly because I wanna reach even more lesbians, especially lesbians of color, and have as many voices heard as possible. I’d want to spread it as far as possible, and maybe keep the survey up for longer? Again, this isn’t meant to be malicious in any way, and I’m sorry if it sounds mean!
If you want, we can’t stop you, but we appreciate that you asked us first, thank you
Hope everything goes well for you!

My major complaint for sadlesbiandisaster’s flag (aside from the aphobe thing) is that mercy would still be difficult to make? Not as difficult as the lipstick flag, but still
Yes, that’s an unfortunate problem with that flag, it’s slightly better because it’s not 6 shades of one colour but I imagine the amount of stripes would still make it difficult and it would still be more expensive, iirc somebody made a version with only 5 stripes but I think the issue then might be similarity to the trans flag..... this really isn’t a simple issue ha

When you realise the typo after it’s been reblogged a bunch
Ahem
Nobody is forcing you to use the winning flag. Feel free to use whatever flag you wish and please do not spread rumours about the flag being “forced on you”
Also please don’t be rude to either the flag creator or people who have chosen to use this flag, I’ve seen this happening quite a lot since the results came out and bith mods would appreciate that people don’t do that.
Be respectful please.

Sorry if I was being really negative earlier when I answered those asks but I kinda lost my patience with people being horribly rude about the flag
As I said, it’s okay if you don’t like the flag but be kind? Don’t be rude? Please?
Sorry again 💙
