I finally had the time to watch the whole reboot (not true, I've just been avoiding studying) so here's my final overall opinion for both seasons.
I think I like season one more, mostly because of the less romance drama and the bigger focus on friendships and rivalries and because Bowie was there the whole time. So here my opinion on each character, in alphabetical order. This shit got way too long for no reason.
Axel: she was cool. Overall fine, it was fun watching her, especially in the second season. I like that she has an artistic side to her that isn't needed for survival, with poetry and painting. I think my favorite episode for her was the third of season two, when she gets stuck to and has to deal with Ripper, and they actually start to get along.
Bowie: I don't think there's any way for me to not have him as my overall favorite. He's too much fun, he's smart, strong, confident, friendly, but he isn't perfect at all, and he showed it especially in season two. The relationship with Raj was adorable, the rivalry with Julia amazing, the friendship with Emma great and I'd say perfectly handled in the first season. He got involved in all of the main plots of the first season, and had a huge role in all of them. I just love him. I can't decide a single favorite episode for him, it would be between episodes 1, 9, 11 and 12 from the first season and episode 5 from the second.
Caleb: I've seen so much hate for him after the second season. But I'll tell you what: I actually enjoyed him, especially in the last couple of episodes. He's not a favorite, not even close, but they gave me the time to learn more about him (maybe even way too much). I liked him especially in episode 12 of season two, where he couldn't decide how to handle Priya and Julia and keep a balance between his alliances that he worked so hard to get, the greatest bit being when Priya made him promise to not tell Julia about the betrayal, and he said his word didn't matter anymore. And in the end he just didn't listen to neither of them.
Chase: well, what to say. He was fine. He was good for what he represented, and he actually had some fun moments. The fake death bit with the bears was hilarious, one of my favorite comedy moments overall. Though I'd say my favorite episode for him was the fourth of the first season, because of some great interactions with Priya and Millie, as well as him being the voice of reason of the team for the elimination.
Damien: I love him. He's overall funny, and his sarcastic comments especially in season two were great. Did he deserve more? Yes. But I'd say sixth place is plenty respectable. I'd say my favorite episode for him is the sixth from the second season. Him winning the tourney, especially defeating Julia and Bowie out of sheer luck, was way too funny and great to see.
Emma: I can't bring myself to not like her. She's fun, there's actually people like her and Chase out there - hell, TV is full of those couples. She deserved way more, and if there will ever be a third seasons, I honest to god hope she wins. I think my favorite episode for her was episode 11 of the first season. Even if she was out of her mind for Chase and she got eliminated, she actually did amazing in the challenge, and the confrontation with Bowie is probably one of my favorite scenes overall.
Julia: there she is. She and Priya are probably the two with the most stuff to talk about, they made it obvious that they are the protagonists of this reboot. Let's say her relationships were all great in general. The rivalry with Bowie, the weird friendship with MK, the twisted alliance with Caleb. I think I did prefer her more in the first season, though. She was more of a "less talking, more acting" kind of villain, which was a nice change of pace from the ones we had in previous seasons, and a great contrast to Bowie's playing style. I'd say my favorite episodes for her were either 9 (my favorite overall) or 12 from the first season.
Millie: I'm saying it: Millie is an amazing character. There. Her arc in the first season is great. You can see her evolving throughout thanks to her friendship with Priya. You see her realize she did some wrong stuff and feeling guilty about it. You see her trying to get better as a person, surpassing the obstacle that is Bowie and finally having the face-to-face that she owed to Priya. She was never meant to become a great player, which is why she did a lot of mistakes in the second season. She's not a powerhouse like Bowie, Priya or Julia, and she paid for what she did wrong. I think my favorite episodes for her were 10 and 11 of the first season, when she realized she was acting badly and decided to change it.
MK: just like Damien, I love her. I always love a snarky character, and she's a great follow up to Noah. She's probably what he could have been if they had given him more space, actually. Anyway, I already said that her friendship with Julia is great, I don't think I have much else to add. I'd say my favorite episodes for her were either episode 4 from season one, or episodes 3 or 7 from the second.
Nichelle: yeah, here's where I get jumped. Because I think it's fair to say she's my least favorite of the cast. It's not even like I don't like her, as I am neutral at most. But she did have some unbearable moments. And I think the fact my favorite episode for her was the second of the first season, where she didn't even get that much screen time but had some actual interactions with other characters, shows a lot how much of a presence she had in the second season for me.
Priya: there she is, too. What to say? She's great in the first season. For me, she and Bowie are the most deserving finalists since Heather and Alejandro in World Tour. But man, it was heavy to watch her in the second season. When it still wasn't out, I thought she took a lot of screen time with Millie in the first, but watching both seasons back-to-back made me realize how much more sparse their scenes were compared to those with Caleb. And as I prefer friendship over romance in general, it was really hard to keep seeing them going. So yeah, that's pretty much it. It's hard to pick a favorite episode for her, though I think I could go for the two final episodes of the first season. The notebook reveal scene is amazing.
Raj: the baby ever. Not a baby actually, but he is adorable with Bowie, though I already said it before. I love the hockey bros. Do I think Raj should have got Wayne's place in the second season? Yeah, but as I've said for Damien, I think fifth is a respectable placement. Favorite episodes, I'd say either 6 of the first season, the best kiss episode of the reboot, or 5 of the second, where he finally confronts Bowie once and for all about the cheating, and they make up for good as most good couples do. You know, like normal people.
Ripper: the man, the mith, the legend. He is fun. No matter how much people hates him, and how much the reboot itself wants you to hate him, he has some great moments that I can't ignore. And I like how in the first season he was actually almost smart for most of the challenges, especially in the cassowary one. Though I'd say my favorite for him is episode 4 of the second season, where he shows to know the others quite a bit. And I loved his poem for Axel, it was actually adorable how he put together both of their hobbies in it.
Scary Girl: well. She's fun. She's there. She's there to be fun. Overrated (I still can't get over people saying she should have won, because no she doesn't), but still enjoyable for what she has to do. Favorite episodes for her either 2 or 3 of the first season.
Wayne: as I said, I love the hockey bros. And rewatching the whole reboot, I came to the decision that while yes, Raj would have probably been a better finalist than him, between the three we actually got he was the best option for the victory. Julia would have been unfair to all the others. Caleb was basically just trying and failing to seek revenge for Priya, and he was barely liked by his own team. While Wayne is a good representation of a finalist who's had fun throughout the season, rather than being overly competitive. You can see it when he has the wackiest adventures during each challenge. He actually has fun, and you have fun with him. We already got a competitive winner in the first season, so why not have one who actually enjoys being there for a change? Plus, I think the authors made it plenty clear that the bros are their favorite too. Favorite episode I'd say the second of the first season, where he gets to show off his leadership skills.
Zee: just like Scary Girl, he is there, and he is fun. I love that he has the dumbest eliminations, but they feel completely in-character for him. And I love how they treated his disability in a fun way rather than it being some angsty shit that I honestly think would have just taken away from the character. Favorite episode either 2, 6 or 9 from the first season.
Overall, this cast is great. I don't think it would be a reach to say I prefer them over the original cast, though I would need to rewatch the rest of td to confirm it.
If you've read all the way down here... Well, congrats. You get to take a cookie.

Because of his introduction in Pokémas, I've seen quite a few Volo analysis posts lately, so here's my two cents (writing this without checking, so let me know if I missed something).
Another point that seems to be recurrent for his character is the theme of memory, the act of remembering and forgetting.
In PLA, he asks Ingo and the MC if they remember seeing anything before getting to Hisui. If I remember correctly, the MC can either answer they do or they're not sure. He goes to Cogita to learn the stories she remembers from the past. He studies the ruins of the forgotten legendaries, Dialga and Palkia, but most especially Giratina, considered "forgotten" from story itself, and Volo remembers him, he brings it back to memory from its abandoned world.
And now, in Pokémas, he uses photos to remember the best moments, and he asks you to remember him as you see him right then. He doesn't want to be forgotten for (or despite) what he is going to do. And maybe the tiniest bit inside of him wants to believe there's some good that can be saved from being reset. He has a photo with his Togepi, after all.
I don't want to go anywhere with this, but I thought it was an interesting thing to point out. Do about this what you want.

People discussing whether Volo will use the Arceus outfit as a Sygna Suit or a new costume and I'm like. Why not both? It wouldn't be the first time they give more alts to one character from what I know, and Volo is popular enough as well.
Actually, beside the more speculated Arceus and Giratina, I'm actually imagining him with Hisuian Arcanine too, like how they gave Adaman and Irida Ursaluna and Zoroark. After all, Arcanine is the team member that separates him from Cynthia.

haikyuu is incredible man…
you ever think about the fact that some people exist not to become stars but to lead others towards the light? ….
hinata was so moved by the little giant that his life found meaning the moment he came into his life (and the little giant never really ended up becoming a pro volleyball player in the first place despite his drive and talent!)
nekomata sensei’s “all we have to do is to lower the net!” shaped kuroo’s entire existence. it left such an impression on him that kuroo turned it into his goal in life: helping as many people as possible discover volleyball.
kuroo himself never going pro but becoming instead a bridge between people and volleyball (which he loves so dearly he wants to make it everyone’s business).
takeda sensei’s “He Who Would Climb a Ladder Must Begin at the Bottom” (which he says to hinata during his first year) became so meaningful to him that hinata hanged it on the wall of his bedroom in Brazil.
sugawara becoming a teacher and getting emotional when facing hinata (to whom he used to set when kageyama refused to do it) and kageyama (who quite literally took what had been his place up until the moment he came) and their growth.
you might think you will never end up doing anything great. instead, i believe you might not end up doing something grand, but whatever it is that you do in life it will always be great and you simply never know whether that one thing you said once or that one thing you once did will ever become the driving force behind someone else’s dream.

Some stuff as I finish the main story of Pokémas:
-I totally forgot there was a whole thing going on between Grimsley and Nanu. And I also forgot how cool of a character Grimsley was. They're an old divorced couple that still love each other, actually.
-I legit cried at Lear's backstory despite knowing it was coming. He's a great character.
-I love how they dedicated a whole boss fight for Lear and Cheren - and the MC - to fight together.
-I don't know in how many events it happened now, but I think it's hilarious that whenever something happens with the electricity Lear will just default to "It's Volkner's fault".
-Reading the manga and playing this game is giving me too many great and content-less rarepairs that I don't know what to do with.
-I'm having way too much fun using the Volo-Riley-NC Silver where I shouldn't. I literally completed all the training fights with just them, some without taking any damage.
-Last time I played I had Lear between my units, I want Lear back. T-T

Update: I got both Volo and Renegade Cynthia and I don't think I've ever been more excited playing a game before. The funny thing is that I got three Volo's in the same pull.

Time to nerd out a bit.
I wonder what's the general opinion on Yoshimasa Hosoya as Volo's VA in Masters.
I'll be honest, I expected him to have more of a Yuichi Nakamura or Akira Ishida-esque voice. Nakamura has the most sly voice I've heard (thinking about Kuroo and Hawks), and Ishida may be too soft, but I've seen him do Cavendish's double personality, and I know for certain he's also voiced Gaara in Naruto, so I'm sure he could pull it off.
But on the other end, I'm a huge sucker for Hosoya's deep voice on him, and I'm guessing they chose him for the post betrayal alt (because I bet they'll do it at some point).
I haven't seen many anime though, so I may be missing on some VAs.

I replayed Y one week before ZA was announced, and now I've managed to restart playing Masters EX 5 days before Volo got announced.
Sometimes I seriosly have the best timing possible.
And now I'm going to rush through the main story to farm as many gems as possible so I can find both him and Renegade Cynthia.

Final results. I certainly didn't expect this, mostly because the PMD fandom is not as big as the main line one. But good for Dusknoir, I'm glad he won!
I already asked my friends, but I'll put it here too. You know, for the science.

Sooo... I wrote a thing. And I got a little too carried away with it.
To all PMD fans, please go read my ff: A light in the dark sky of time
It's a canon compliant story by Dusknoir's and Grovyle's point of view. At first it was supposed to cover Dusknoir only, but then I added Grovyle and this monstrosity came out. I regret all my life decisions.
I hope you enjoy it just as much as I suffered writing it.

So I recently found out that ComicFury exists and I wanted to try it out, it's a lot easier than I thought!! ComicFury is a website that allows you to create as many websites as you want to host your own comics, made by artists for artists, and I think that's really cool that it's been around since 2008 :D
So, to test it out, I decided to put together a website to host my old Wacky Races 2017 comic adaptation, Unlicenced to Drive! Like with tumblr themes, there are several templates to chose from and which can also be modified later if you're into working with html. Also, the posting and queueing settings are very intuitive. I highly recommend trying it out if you have a comic or a collection of mini comics! Or even as a reader, really, there's tons of webcomics to be discovered :D
Now there is a place where you can read the whole comic, it updates two pages at a time every Wednesday :D

Last chapter of the Pt arc! I cut off a lot of stuff, but this was still longer than usual. Beware of spoilers!
First - Vs Lopunny
Previous - Final dimentional duel X
Last - Final dimentional duel XI
Chapter 25 / Chapter 441
Tumblr media
This is a pretty cool shot. And I also love the reasoning, especially as I'm still in PMD hell, and as I've read the author's note at the end of the volume. When you live in a world of darkness, what you desire the most is to find a light that can brighten up your road.
Tumblr media
I love Rotom. I don't even care that at this point they were just throwing stuff at your face, or that the robot was supposed to be at Dia's home, I just love that Rotom followed him because they equally loved anime.
Tumblr media
So it was a machine that used waves Pokémon don't like. And from what I understood, he used it to control Giratina on the other side to open the hole back on Spear Pillar.
Tumblr media
You can't tell me Cyrus isn't a great character in the manga. He had a backstory that explained his reasoning without any tragic twist and an amazing development thanks to Dia's words and his own experience in the Distortion World.
Tumblr media
And despite everything, he still loves his commanders. I would have so loved to see more of their point of view during the story and learn more about them.
Tumblr media
Other people thrown to the reader's face! It's not like he was hospitalized, like. Two days ago. Anyway.
Tumblr media
This is a pretty damn awesome shot, if you ask me.
Tumblr media
I love these two dumbasses. And the fact that Dia and Pearl are right behind them just confirms my idea that they are their foils.
Tumblr media
Unova and Seven Sages mention! I've always hoped we could find out who the leader guy was. I think they were preparing us for a Sird vs International Police confrontation for the future, before it was all canceled.
Tumblr media
Fiore mention! I have read the Ranger chapters in the past, but I don't think they're available anywhere anymore since the site I used shut down. If anyone can find them they can tell me though, because I would love to do a commentary about those too. You know, to close definitely the Sinnoh saga.
Tumblr media
The fistbump ever. They are finally together and happily in peace, as they should have always been.
Tumblr media
I love these little shots the manga always shows at the end of an arc, to give an idea about what everyone is doing. Unless the arc ends with a bad ending like FRLG and BW.
Tumblr media
I missed them so badly. Starting with a double act to try and become famous, ending with a double act solely for the person they love the most.
Tumblr media
Daycare guys! And of course Phione and Manaphy, because in an arc made to show off every single Sinnoh legendary, they couldn't not put these last two. Even if there's still one more missing...
Tumblr media
...Which is shown off in the final arc of the fourth generation games. Johto and Gold mention! The reference to the games ever, because HGSS deserves this and more.
Woah, Pt is over too. Of course this was way faster than DP, but it was still a good trip. I hope everyone enjoyed it, because I sure did! This arc may have it's downsides, but in the end DP was the one with the biggest stuff, and this was obviously mostly fanservice.
After this I have to go back to studying once again. I should be free for a while in the second half of April, so I'm thinking to end the fourth gen saga with a HGSS commentary. Tell me what you think!
Thank you for reading all the way till the end! I'm always happy to see those who kept following this commentaries since DP. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

It's almost over! Beware of spoilers!
First - Vs Lopunny
Previous - Final dimentional duel IX
Last - Final dimentional duel XI
Chapter 24 / Chapter 440
Tumblr media
This is a cool shot, I've gotta say.
Tumblr media
These are all good thoughts, and incredibly fitting for the actual situation in our real life. Disaster can unleash for the smallest of reasons, sometimes not even voluntarily. It just happens.
Tumblr media
I know this is supposed to be wholesome, but I feel like they made her say that only because she's the protagonist of this arc. This is not something you realize in two seconds, I think.
Tumblr media
This is the cutest being that ever walked the earth, give it all the love ever.
Tumblr media
This is 100% a reference to the Shaymin movie. And since we're talking about that, the thing where it couldn't transform in the Distortion World, is it only a movie thing that I remember or does it happen in the game too?
Tumblr media
This is just fanservice at this point. None of them have a reason to favor the kids compared to everyone else, especially Cresselia who has Palmer right there. Though the way Dialga and Palkia pick up Dia and Pearl is cute.
Tumblr media
This is cool, actually. I love Cherrim's power to change and open in the sun.
Tumblr media
And I once again lament not having the double page. Though this is cool too. And amazingly fitting with PLA too, Cynthia destroying Giratina. Saying goodbye to the evil allegations.

The part where stuff is very chaotic. Beware of spoilers!
First - Vs Lopunny
Previous - Final dimentional duel VIII
Next - Final dimentional duel X
Last - Final dimentional duel XI
Chapter 23 / Chapter 439
Tumblr media
The Pokédexes are back! Of all the stuff that came back or made cameos, I think this was the most emotional one. The object of their bond.
Tumblr media
As out of nowhere as this is, I like the explanation of the lake trio feeling guilty for being exchanged for the Pokédexes, and knowing that the person who had them didn't want them in the first place either, it was all Sird. So they worked together to give them back.
Tumblr media
Darkrai is an incredible Pokémon, but it has so many different characterizations. Here it brings nightmare wherever it goes without wanting to, but ends up being hostile towards Cresselia anyway. And it seems to be stronger than most other legendaries too.
Tumblr media
Mhh, I don't really like the "Darkrai is under my control too now" without it being explained. It appeared out of nowhere and suddenly it's under Charon. This arc really needed a lot more time.
Tumblr media
This is the part where I once again lament the site cutting the double pages because I can't put here the giant fight with all the legendaries.
Tumblr media
Poor Heatran though, oh my god.
Tumblr media
As much as I love Platinum, I can get where the people who say she has it all come from. She's rich, kind, smart, loved by everyone, and now her Pokémon have Pokérus too.
Tumblr media
So it seems like it's the first time they see such a thing. It's fair considering how rare Pokérus is in the games too. But when did Yanase join them?

I could have spent a lot more time and screenshots on Pearl only if I wanted to torture you, thank me that I restrained myself. Beware of spoilers!
First - Vs Lopunny
Previous - Final dimentional duel VII
Next - Final dimentional duel IX
Last - Final dimentional duel XI
Chapter 22 / Chapter 438
Tumblr media
You know, Cyrus has a pretty normal backstory after all, but it explains well enough the reason of his plan. Since human feelings are illogical and always cause pain, he wanted to create a world where everything was logical and followed specific rules, just like his machines, so that it always worked perfectly.
Tumblr media
Oh, I didn't remember that they tried to explain that thing. So the actual Team Galactic created it. I thought it was mentioned to be an old relic back in DP, but maybe I just misunderstood the meaning.
Tumblr media
Oh my god, I love you, Dia. Please, never change.
Tumblr media
This is so funny, help. Everyone's faces are amazing. Palmer, I know you said you're a bad father, but you're not helping with the allegations either.
Tumblr media
Being into PMD hell right now, this is an instant reference to me, even if the games came after, I think. I'm not sure, actually.
Tumblr media
As I said, you should thank me I'm not putting every single Pearl panel. Look at him sassing his dad one moment, and being traumatized the next. And not knowing what to say because. He doesn't know what happened.
Tumblr media
I love the reference here. I'm not sure between which games the change happens, but I'm pretty sure both phrases are used in the gyms.
Tumblr media
This is one of the funniest panels ever. Look at Cyrus' and Palkia's dead stares. They're amazing.
Tumblr media
I felt more emotional with this reunion than Uji and Paka's with Platinum. They met once, but they loved each other so much already. Dia and Pearl have a lot of great mentors.
Tumblr media
Annnd here's back the lakes trio. With the grunt trying to look menacing for some reason.
