It terrifies me that there’s so much raging passion in the lgbt+ community that insist on marginalizing asexuals and implying that asexuals don’t deserve to have safe spaces. There’s still so much acephobia so I just wanna know which blogs are genuinely supportive and a safe space for asexuals

Ok, so that’s phase 2. Still not looking how I want it to but I’m going to try and rescue it a bit in stage 3 and possibly a stage 4? Who knows? I make this up as I go along! 🤣

For a little something different, here’s a post on how this piece was made!

So this mini was made by clipping apart and green stuff-ing the crap out of Reaper’s Silverhorn

Step Zero: Find Pictures of Zebras Online

Can’t very well model a zebra without an example.

Step One: Find a Unicorn to Destroy

It was the only horse-like mini I had with no saddle!

Step Two: Clip Off Luscious Locks and Horn

Ear loss is an unfortunate side effect of this procedure, please consult your doctor before trying. No picture of this step...

Step Three: Attach Buzz Cut and Skinny Tail

I also used green stuff for some minor repairs that were required after clipping off floofs.

Step Four: Become a God to Your Miniature and Create New Ears

Taunt your miniature by placing them on toothpicks just out of reach. The vegetable oil in the picture was used to keep my sculpting utensils from getting stuck to the green stuff.

Step Five: Become a Gracious God and Give New Ears (and tail floof) to Your Mini

Also added more green stuff to smooth over the now hornless head and give more natural flow to the ears. Then coated transition points (such as the tail to the back) with Games Workshop’s Citadel ‘Ardcoat. Useful for gap filling of small gaps and smoothing out small imperfections.

Step Six: Prime Miniature

Using Vallejo Polyurethane Primer in White and Black. Handpainted due to Bones miniatures not working with spray can primer and didn’t want to get my airbrush set-up.

Step Seven: Base Coat in Reaper’s Misty Gray & Scribble Stripes All Over in Reaper’s Woodstain Brown

Step Eight: Clean Up Those Lines and Begin Shading the “White” Areas

For the white areas I used Reaper’s Misty Gray and Cloudy Gray, and Vallejo’s Off-White. Use thinners and mediums as necessary.

Step Nine: Reward Your Miniature by Holding Them After Finishing Up Details and Stripes

Stripes primarily Reaper’s Woodstain Brown, though minor highlights and lowlights added with Reaper’s Dark Skin Triad.

Step Ten: Show Your Miniature How To Make a Tree from Wire

You, yes you could win one of these fabulous prizes! All pieces were contributed by artists from across the world who handcrafted them with love and care.

I personally created the zebra display piece in the first image by heavily modifying Reaper Mini’s Silverhorn. The acacia tree was made with wire, hot glue, and flock. The base is pink foam. OH! And the zebra is removable so you can use it in your D&D games!!

About the Fundraiser

Hi, I'm Lindsey (AKA @whimsysgeekery and @whimsysadventures), the organizer of this sweepstakes fundraiser. I am a commission miniature painter and a Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos (hEDS) patient. This fundraiser started out of my simple idea of creating a zebra themed project for Ehlers-Danlos Awareness month. I started working on my project and it dawned on me that I could organize something a little bit larger. So I went out looking for more contributors and people both close to me and from across the globe came to my aid. All of these projects were created during awareness month.

Why the Zebra?

Medical students have been taught "When you hear hoofbeats behind you, don't expect to see a zebra." Meaning, look for the more common and usual diagnosis, not the rare and surprising. Because of this, many people with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD) spend years upon years pursuing a diagnosis. So as the Ehlers-Danlos Society puts it: "the zebra became our symbol to mean, 'Sometimes when you hear hoofbeats, it really is a zebra."

Why are you raising funds?

I personally am motivated to raise funds, because I don't want anyone else to have to go through the long and difficult journey that I did. Most doctors I have seen have either not heard of EDS or their knowledge of it is so out of date that it's irrelevant. I started experiencing extreme pain in my legs about 19 years ago. I wasn't diagnosed until last year. That makes my journey 18 years. 18 years with no answer, with no treatment. Had I known earlier, I would have saved myself from what is now irreparable damage. So that's why I'm doing this. It's personal, and I won't let EDS win.

The responsibility and cost of shipping the prize would fall on the artists themselves.

Project must be completed (with photos ready) by May 30th.

Each artist would have the option to feature their website/Facebook/Instagram on the fundraiser page.

The sweepstakes goes live on May 31st - the last day of Ehlers-Danlos Awareness month.

The sweepstakes will end June 30th, with winners being drawn July 16th.

Artists will have until August 3rd to provide proof of shipment.

In game shes not died yet, butchered marines and tyranid warrios, and been an absolute psychic (magical) powerhouse. This space elf lady deserved some paint :)

Forgot to post these last week!

I finally played Warhammer Quest: The Silver Tower last weekend with my husband and our roommate. It was a ton of fun! So, in order to take a break from that frustrating boat I decided to start painting characters.

First up is the Excelsior Warpriest, simply because he was the only one I have to paint before finishing up assembly. Capes man, capes.

I’m using true metallics on these to give myself a bit of a breather from NMM. It will be nice to be able to get something done a bit faster than usual.

I based all of the minis in the game with the Shattered dominion bases since they pretty closely match the in-game floor tiles.

Side note, I finished listening to Iain M. Banks Player of Games while I painted this. Excellent book (and audiobook). Particularly if you would like to explore a non-capitalistic future world where the AI aren’t intrinsically bad. This one in particular has a lot of positive gender representation!
