Upon the night's fall across the Radial Island, fireworks were set off, from somewhere farther inland than the main city and its four wards. Following a freshly constructed path out from Archimedes, one would eventually run across the source of the fireworks, where an even stranger sight awaited. Castles, towers, tents, bright lights and the melodic toot of the calliope, all sprung up seemingly overnight in the middle of a contained valley.
On each end of the wrought iron gate, a mountain range begins, framing the amusement park and drawing the eyes up, and up, and up to the sky, as a starry night covers the valley. Above the gate, in sparkling yellow letters, the name of the park is written.
Welcome to Nightmare Kingdom.
Come, enjoy our delights. Fried treats of all shapes, sizes, and origins. Masked performers at and of every corner. Our bumper cars can feel pain.
Although the night skies above stay clear and starry, time still goes on. Inclement weather doesn't intrude on your good times, however. At every corner, you'll find a clock-post telling you the time.
Challenge yourself at games of skill, chance, myth, and maybe at the Black Knight's CyberRealm. Always remember his famous catch-phrase, 'Give me your money!' (money not required)
Should games of knowledge be more your speed, attempt the confusing Orb Garden. Riddles and puzzles will block your way. Struggle against our Sphinx of Starry Quartz.
Combat is no stranger to this playful little park. Arrive at the largest big-top tent to find a place to fight. Within 'Fear of Losing'... Eliminate the impulse to run, abandon the idea you are beholden to the Stars' restraints; the only limit is your imagination. Reach your limits. Break them, or stay comfortable within them. Fight against another visitor, or alongside them against foes you invent. Should your Hit Points fall to zero, you will fall in battle. Do your best.
Shimmering Ferris wheels, sparkling roller-coasters, carousels that might as well rise up into the sky. Delight yourself within the Forest of Rocks. Who knows? Maybe it's not just the bumper cars that feel pain.
Despite what you may have seen on the outside, the park inside is quite large. It goes on, further, and further, and further still. You could probably find ride or attraction you could think of in here. Yet, the way out is always clear.
While the staff seems to always be a little blurry and shimmering, the park itself has three mascots. The Munificent Mr. Moon-and-Star, a large purple fellow with a starry face and chest, H.E. Double Layer, a three tier cake with a lovable fanged mouth and two mis-matched bloodshot eyes, and last but not least, His Excellency, a striking fellow clad in a black robe.
For easy access to, and from, the Nightmare Kingdom, the Orphan Skies Train Station runs regularly. A sparkling old steam train, riding on rails it creates and destroys itself, allowing it access to the skies and the ocean, through the Mistwood and around Yesteryear. If you don't have a ticket, just wait. You'll find one.
Ah, I almost forgot. For you? The one reading this? Admission is free. Food, games, rides, worry not. It is up to you to give it worth. Those memories you make... That is payment enough.
The Nightmare Kingdom awaits. What will you do?

it was wetboy wednesday when i started writing (open)
His current plans put on hold, the Nightmare Knight had gone back to his home to unpack and relax for a bit after setting up his vile scheme to disrupt the island and its people. Outside, however, it was quite hot. Even with his Atmosphere Control darkening the outside world when he was thinking about it, it was bright and hot and awful.
But then again, he couldn't feel any of that. So it was actually just worry for the citizens. What did citizens like? Pools, he thought. What did he have? One really big pool. To most, it would be a lake. That's just how it happens, he supposes, when you're massive and your house is scaled up appropriately. Everything else has to get big to compensate.
Lounging in his massive sun chair, after opening the gate to his backyard, putting up signs and a banner across the three story tall gateway, and setting up little chairs, changing rooms, and ice cold refreshments, the Nightmare Knight was ready to accept guests.
Not that he cared, putting on his sunglasses and unfolding his three part folding mirror. He didn't care if anyone had a good time.

This is an event rerun. For more information on how to participate, please check our EVENT RERUN GUIDE! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask! Keep in mind that this event has already been rerun before, and any form of past participation in the other runs means you cannot claim it again.
“GOOD MORNING, FAIR RESIDENTS OF SPIRALE! DO YOU REMEMBER ME? OF COURSE YOU DO, HOW COULD YOU NOT!?” Regardless of what one was doing at the stroke of midnight, a booming voice echoed throughout the minds of every resident of Spirale in tandem. “IF YOU’D KINDLY TURN YOUR EYES TO THE NEAREST SCREEN, I HAVE AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE!”
Every screen in the city - be it a television, a phone, the digital screen on the fridge - all tuned into the same image. Rudimentary camera work pointed at a barely-lit visage. A three-eyed beast, each eye sporting a gleam as its feline features became more apparent. For many this was a beast that had appeared once before, but for others? “I AM THE MAD MERRYMAKER, THE PRINCE OF– AH, I’VE DONE THIS BEFORE. SIMPLY CALL ME K’HORII.”
As the cat beast spoke, throughout the city those that came from other worlds began to feel peculiarly disoriented. They couldn’t tear their eyes away from the screens but neither did they feel rooted on the ground. Almost as if it were an out of body experience. “MY ATTENTION WAS CAUGHT BY THESE HOLIDAY FESTIVITIES OF YOURS! AREN’T THEY PECULIAR? YOU LOT SPEND THE OTHER 11 MONTHS OF THE YEAR ARGUING AND FIGHTING, BUT AROUND THE HOLIDAYS YOU PRETEND TO GET ALONG! DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND ONE ANOTHER? NO! BUT THAT IS THE POINT OF MY BUSINESS HERE.”
All three of K’horii’s eyes shone crimson, and the point of view of every outsider in the city changed. They were not merely in a different place, but a different body entirely. “THE GAME IS SIMPLE! EVERY SO OFTEN YOU’LL BE SHUFFLED AROUND INTO ANOTHER BODY! WELL, IT’S MORE OF A SWAP. BEFORE YOU’RE SENT TO ANOTHER FORM YOU’LL BE RETURNED TO YOUR OWN. TIMING? THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON! BUT YOU’D BEST NOT THINK THIS IS AS STRAIGHTFORWARD AS MERE BODYSNATCHING! …ALTHOUGH I’LL LEAVE THAT FOR YOU LOT TO DISCOVER!”
The screens all flickered off in tandem, leaving the out-of-worlders in completely different forms. At least for now. But… what could he have possibly meant by the situation not being as straightforward as it seemed?
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Welcome to our next rerun event, EMPATHEOREM!
As you’ve surely gleamed from the above text, this event is based around the idea of living in another’s skin and coming to better understand people in ways you might not have otherwise. Here’s a general overview of how things will work mechanically:
characters can only swap with one other character at a time. the duration of the swap is up to the muns involved, and it could last the entire event, a number of hours, or even less. do what you’re comfortable with!
the characters do not to be within close proximity of one another to swap nor does it have to be with someone they know. it could be with someone on the other side of the city, leaving them to try and figure out who they are.
swapping must be done with mun permission. please respect the boundaries of other muns!
you cannot swap with an animal / pokemon unless they are a character on the masterlist. if there’s a pikachu on the masterlist for example you could swap with them, but not the pokemon of a trainer on the masterlist.
powers remain bound to the body regardless of whether they are physical or mental along with the unlock limitations. so if muse a were to swap with muse b, they would be able to use all of muse b’s unlocked powers provided they could figure out how to use them.
it isn’t merely a physical swap however, and there are side effects to being in another’s body that become more and more prominent the more time they spend swapped.
swapped characters may be prone to acting more and more like the owner of the body they are in. so for example if muse a and muse b swap, the longer they remained swapped the more they may begin to act like one another.
swapped characters may also experience one another’s memories. with mun permission, feel free to have them remember experiences only the host body might have known. this is a great way for characters to learn things about one another that might otherwise have gone unsaid!
the former two points are optional. you do not need to utilize either if you are not comfortable with it.
if your character has any special biological traits to note, please make sure to include this information in an info post or on your ad! in cases where characters have a fatal weakness to something mundane (in cases like being weak to the sun), you can choose to have anyone in their body subconsciously realize this for example. please do not kill anyone else’s muse without permission!
a posted mini will not count as participation during this event unless it is replied to before the event period ends. likewise during this event, drabbles will not count. this is because the event is very dependent on bond building interactions and we would like you guys to reach out and write with each other.
if you are not comfortable swapping with another character you are free to avoid doing so for the event! however to earn participation you must interact with at least one character who has swapped with someone else!
in regards to icons: if you’d like to offer up icons for people to use you can, but it isn’t mandatory at all!
you can use an info post to list things like unique biological characteristics, unlocked powers, and what kind of things like memories or personality traits a character in their body may come to expect if you’re okay with them experiencing these things. you can also provide a sampling of usable icons if you’d like! we recommend you tag these info posts with ‘#iremp info’.
even if you have mun permission we will not allow nsfw to be written during the event (unless it takes place outside of the event of course!). we also ask that you do not write any content picking fun at your new body in any form, even lightheartedly, for the sake of member comfort (for instance, if your muse does not have breasts and ends up in a body that does, do not joke about “having boobies”, or if they are a different weight do not draw attention to and mock it). if you are at all unsure if something crosses this line, we ask that you refrain.
the event officially ends at 11:59:59PM EST on july 5th.

Leaning over to loom over her creation, he considered her words. It's well worth a try, he thought, so he tried a similar folding of the wings. It certainly looked nicer, at least. Children should know how to play like this, he mused.
He tossed the plane, and it did a little better. Maybe. He couldn't really tell. Perception got strange this close to the hole.
"Good idea, little one. Time to experiment."
[ 🌱 ] as the knight spoke, the young girl turned to look up at him, her lips curving in to a grin as he explained his tactic. she watched as he gave his plane a toss before disappearing in to the abyss of the hole. she then looked down at her own creation before trying mimic him, throwing the paper with a good amount of force. unfortunately, it met the same fate as his -- sucked into the vortex. she laughed softly before turning to look at him once again.
" i guess the hole wanted our little paper guys, huh? "
she then took another sheet of paper, peeking over at his hands every now and again to try and fold it in a similar shape. she quirked a brow in thought for a moment before letting out a small gasp.
" wait, what if... what if we did it like this instead? " she then folded the ends of the wings up a tad, " maybe this will make it fly easier? might help it... grip the air or something. does that even make sense? " she wasn't sure on how things flew in the human realm, but she had seen the large metal planes in the sky and they could fly rather easily. luz hadn't taught her about the human realm's ability to fly just yet. in the boiling isles, their palismans could easily fly, but they were magic.

I feel like we are having a misunderstanding somewhere. I also get that a lot.
You may not have heard me before. But I am the Tyrant of the Spiral. I do as I please. This island is mine to do with as I wish. I will bring them joy and safety in the ways I see fit.
★ --;; There's some commentary somewhere to be made about Vash and being given tickets, but it gets lost in the face of such a large man handing him what is essentially a get-out-of-jail-free card that he does not particularly want. Not that he's going to say that, though-- at least out loud.
"Uh... thank you?" he say instead, blinking down at it and holding t with both hands. "Both for the ticket and for... uh... allowing? It?" Somehow this might still not be the strangest situation he's ever been in, but that doesn't make it any less harrowing to navigate.
"T'be honest though, none a' these folks particularly deserve ta' be treated like that, ya' know? Ain't it better to try usin' all that power for somethin'... nicer?"

I have many hobbies already. Knitting, sewing, baking, cooking, writing, painting, sculpting, construction, amateur disc-jockeying, flower arrangement, gambling, wallowing in my own despair, and a bit of computer programming. Just to name a few.
You seem nervous about something. I've been told I have that effect on people. Say, I shall give you something to help with that perhaps. I shouldn't be doing this, but as I am the one in charge of the 'festivities', I am allowing it.
Here, a ticket for you. Raise it to the sky on the fated day, like one would a holy sword. The train will arrive shortly after. It will emerge from the heavens above, coming to a stop just before you. I recommend not doing it in a busy street.
★ --;; Aw, beans. "Ah-no, it-- it's fine!"
"But, if you're just bored, how about takin' up a hobby? ( Y'know, besides the whole torturin' people thing... ) Maybe, uh-- art? Or writing? Or knitting, even! All a' those things can leave a mark on the world too, even if it's a small one. Small marks matter, too! They all add up!"

Do not worry. I'm well aware of the way I sound. I've been told I have a way with words, and it is very clear that it's a bad way to have with words.
The desire to leave a mark on this world. The need to try something new. The necessity of building a graveyard. But, truthfully... Mostly, it's out of boredom.
★ --;; "O-oh." Cue nervous laughing, and not only because of possible (?) semi-imminent danger. "Sorry for oversteppin', didn't mean to."
On to the now very much more important matter, though, namely: "Any, uh... particular reason? Why?" Ignore the slight uptick in octave, please. "Y'know, for the whole. Uh. Turnin' people into playthings- uh. Thing." Vash and bodily agency are a... bit of a sensitive topic. "I mean, if someone did somethin' wrong to ya', maybe just try... talking it out ... ?"

I have been largely polite on this, I feel. Perhaps there is a miscommunication, and if so, that is my fault. I mean to say that I am good, bro. I do not need support in regards to love or my own personal worth. It's very sweet of you to try, though.
Oh, my plans? They are quite simple. I shall turn the people of this island into my playthings as they struggle to withstand the depths of my vile imagination. I was hoping to release it on a Friday the 13th, but there won't be one until September. So that's out, for now.
★ --;; "Perfect logic doesn't mean you don't need love, I don't think. Everyone deserves to feel loved-- I mean, even if it's not in a romantic way. Weirdos, too!" And he's really met some weirdos-- nevermind his own brother's genocidal tendencies.
"Surely there's someone you care about, or who cares about you. Maybe you can find a hunky guy who will some day! Just don't rule it out entirely."
"But since you mentioned it, can I ask what you're plannin' on doin'?" Said plans don't sound like they could be anything particularly good, despite the pep talk Vash has been willing to give, so maybe a bit of misdirection couldn't hurt... ?

... Ah, my apologies. I have been distracted.
I have been playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure on my Electronic Pad. I'm reminded of a dear friend. It has consumed me in this nostalgic aura. I'll get back to work soon.

You're a very kind person to think this, considering the circumstances. But fear not, I am a being of perfect logic. I have no need of love in this world.
The island will fear my name again, soon enough. This month, actually, provided I can get it all finished by then.
Ah, I must explain. I meant my previous attempts at romance were with individuals both cruel and unusual. I've met some real weirdos.
★ --;; "Well," Vash says, his head tilting the other way, "You're not doin' anything awful right now, and that's a pretty good start as any, I think."
Despite being called so too many time to count, he's not naïve; but it still can't hurt to give a push in the right direction!
"If you do wanna try again, why not start tryin' ta' be better? I might not know you all that well, but folks seem to not be too scared-- and you don't have ta' be 'cruel and unusual' about it, either. ( Actually, that'd probably be preferred...)"

Yeah. It's Italian.
I assure you that I have hurt many people here, and I will continue to hurt them. Such is my nature. I am powered by the fears of the citizens. All of that serves as a fairly good deterrent, at least in my experience. None of my previous attempts have been successful, even with the cruel and unusual.
The Spiral? He has no idea what that means.
"You mean Spirale? No offense, but you don't seem like that much of a tyrant, least 'round here- so it doesn't sound like that much of a deterrent."

My good boy, none of the relationship problems I suffer from have anything to do with my romantic identity. That is something I've been comfortable with for quite a while now. As with my age.
It has to do with the conqueror part. Tyrant of the Spiral and all that.
"I'unno, do you?"
"You can be ageless and still like guys."

Not everyone has the desire for it, I suppose. I've never tried more than the occasional stand or flier for freelance work, personally.
I'd love to bore you with the details of my own current project, but what have you interested yourself in lately? What do you hope to bring to our fair island?
"I have to wonder why there's so little businesses here despite how long people have been here. My time here is still under a year and I feel the need to do at least something here."

Being a good parent of guardian can be a very difficult thing. Luckily, your community should be able to help with advice, if not more meaningful support.
I, our fair island's local best parent past ten years running, am here to give you examples of good parenting. Listen closely.
I am better than you son. I can dissolve you instantly son. You don't need to talk to me about anything son.
