Caretaker gently trying to move or adjust something around the sleeping whumpee (take off their glasses, pull away their book so they don’t bend the pages, stop their blanket from slipping off, etc.) but the movement startles Whumpee awake. Cue confused, groggy mumbling as glazed eyes peek up and Caretaker wincing in defeat. “Sorry,” they whisper, “I didn’t mean to wake you.”

Characters who don’t typically seem phased by things (maybe they’re pretty stoic, or bright and bubbly, or boundlessly determined) who have something particularly bad happen to them, so bad that it breaks their spirit or leaves them so weak that they can’t carry on as normal, and everyone suddenly realizing how vulnerable they are.
“Are they… crying?”
“They look so small on that hospital bed.”
“I didn’t realize how quiet things would feel without their incessant chatter.”
“They always looked after us, but we never asked if they needed help. We always just assumed they were fine, we never bothered to check?”
“God, I forgot just how young they are.”
“Have they always looked so… sad?”

Some More Injury Prompts/Starters
“I don’t know, you went down pretty hard…”
“You’ll heal faster if you quit overdoing it.”
“You said it was just a scratch! That is not just a scratch!”
“I know you can’t feel it, but I promise I’m holding your hand.”
“I’m not letting you brawl around in some germ pit with an open wound.”
“I don’t know why I bother patching you up when it takes you all of five minutes to get hurt again.”
“If you were really okay, you wouldn’t have fainted.”
“Shit, you’re bleeding through your clothes.”
“No, your brain isn’t goo. You just have a concussion.”
“Yikes. This is going to need more than a couple bandaids…”
“Please lean on me before your limping gets even worse.”
“I’m trying, but it just keeps bleeding!”
“I’m gonna take a lucky guess here and say that’s broken.”
“If they know you’re hurt, they’re going to eat you alive.”
“This is exactly why I wanted to bring the first aid kit!”
“No matter how much it hurts, you have to be quiet.”
“The least I can do is clean up the blood— I mean, it’s your blood.”
“I don’t think ‘kiss it better’ is going to work in this case.”

“It’s a blunt procedure, but it’s your only option. The diameter of the restraint is three inches. The width of your hand is five inches. So all you have to do is, uh, make your hand three inches. That’s just math.”

Whump Prompt #134
submitted by @wolfsong4640 - thanks!
Character A has very vivid night terrors (from traumatic events or just in general) and is often exhausted from waking up multiple times each night. Character B has only experienced instances of A being somewhat restless in their sleep, until one night A wakes B up with heart wrenching screams in their sleep. B shakes A awake, who proceeds to either sob hysterically or have a panic attack. Queue comfort time.
