characters apologizing for things they have no control over. mumbling sorry while losing consciousness. feeling ashamed of a bleeding wound. embarrassed when an infection sets in. deep seated feverish guilt when they need to be carried, when their legs won't keep them upright anymore and they lean heavy on a friend, slurring apologies..........

caretaker goes home after sending whumpee to the hospital. their heart pounds, arms sore after performing CPR until the ambulance arrived. they try to sleep, they need to sleep, but even with their eyes heavy, sleep won't come.

all they can do is relive the scene, seeing the blood on the ground around whumpee and the feeling of the gravel digging into their knees with every compression.

Characters who seem harsh and assholes, but all it is is 'I don't want to be hurt again'.

Or characters who are very nice to everyone and helpful, they just never accept help themselves or let anyone get close. They can't.

The whumpee didn’t trust anymore, they had been stabbed in the back countless times, and the last person they had considered a friend had been the whumper. It didn’t matter if everyone saw them as a monster or cold jerk, they didn’t want to risk suffering like that anymore.

When you criticize something and people go 'ugh you just can't handle that it was sad'

No that's the problem!! This was nothing! Where is the sadness? The angst? The whump????? You can't set up this super angsty thing and then chicken out. Make me sad please!

Whumpee who has escaped Whumper(s), and is hiding in Caretaker's room. They're not doing good and are just lying on the bed.

But guards start searching rooms, and Caretaker needs to hide Whumpee. They end up putting them in the closet.

Slight problem: Whumpee is claustrophobic and afraid of the dark. They're also still injured, and the fear of being found is not helping.

Still, they have to be quiet or it's back to Whumper. So they sit in the closet, hand pressed over their mouth to keep quiet, as they breathe through their nose in shuddering breaths, silent tears running down their face.

Don't spiral. Don't panic. Be quiet.

Whumpee who has been through terrible things in the past gets hurt. They're not thinking rationally, and refuse help. They lash out at Caretaker, and keep their guard up until they pass out.

Later, when they're awake and calm, Caretaker asks why they wouldn't accept help.

And Whumpee... doesn't know.

Caretaker says it's okay to not have an answer, but they ask Whumpee to think about it.

Whumpee hates it. They don't want to confront their past, their trauma. But Caretaker asked, and they nearly hurt them last time, so they try anyway. They know they can't talk about it, so they try to write a letter.

It will be a list. Simple, just bullet points of what they need and don't need. But... it's hard. It's just words but it's so hard. Why is writing a simple line like 'Don't grab me' so difficult to put on paper? The words are in Whumpee's head, why can't they just write it down?

The first three papers get throws away with a snarl, crumpled to a ball and thrown to the wall. The next two get ripped to shreds.

But... slowly, it becomes easier. It's still difficult, but Whumpee manages. The final result is a mess. The paper is creased, words and whole sentences are crossed out and the handwriting is a mess. It took days to finish.

But they did it.

They give it to Caretaker. No elaboration on what it is, Caretaker will know.

whumpee who occasionally gives up and just lays there for a few minutes.

maybe they’re safe and just taking a breather, maybe they need a minute before attempting to save themself, maybe they’ve actually given up.

either way, they just lay there and stare at the ceiling. they’re very tired.

Caretaker following the news updates as Whumpee is possibly found. The updates that the infiltration team is trying to get them out. That they are confirmed found. That things went wrong. That Whumpee's life is in danger. That they're in the hospital now, in critical condition.

All they can do is watch and hope.

A character who can't go on anymore. They ran as far as they could, then walked, and when they collapsed, they dragged themselves further.

But they're done now. They have nothing left. They're on the ground, breathing harshly, maybe even sobbing in their desperation. They gave all they had.

Was it enough?

Gets stabbed

"Okay. I was wrong."

"...This isn't real. You're not real."

Creature Whumpee who is in hiding. They pass for human, and nobody knows they're a creature.

But one they day get injured, and everyone rushes to help them of course. Everyone is concerned, kind, caring. Until the question of how they got so badly injured arises. They locate whatever hurt them (maybe they got stabbed), thinking maybe there was poison on the object?

Except they realize it's just a normal thing. ...for humans.

Someone realizes that it hurts Creatures, and suddenly those concerned looks Whumpee has been gotten look concerned for a whole other reason...

Beast Whumpee who is starving. Not because their captors are intentionally starving them, but everyone is so scared of them biting, that they don't dare to remove the muzzle. So they're being fed through it, which takes forever and they can only eat very small food.

It's not enough.

OR Whumpee's muzzle was removed during feeding, but always put back on. When they have a chance to escape, they're wearing the muzzle, and they can't get it off by themselves. So now they're free, but losing a lot of weight as they simply can't get enough food in them.

Caretaker for Living Weapon lying to their boss and exaggerating LW's wounds, just so they can get some more rest. They think they're doing something good.

LW finds out and is furious.

They got punished for getting injured that badly, they were supposed to be better than this, and they are.

But Caretaker unknowingly made it worse.

stoic whumpee showing back up at caretaker's months after leaving without reason. there's dried blood on their hands and clothes. as soon as caretaker opens the door, whumpee breaks down into sobs and falls into caretaker, arms wrapping desperately around them

Okay I want to try something

First person says something they like about the whump community, or whump in general.

Next person says something they don't. The next says something they like again, and the next one something they dont like. Etc etc.

Rule: Personal preferences only, not allowed to be mean or rude, or personal attacks! Stay respectful!

So: "I dislike stoic whumpees" is okay!

But "I dislike stoic whumpees, they're stupid and dumb" is not!

Be nice, or... I can't do much about it but be nice :D
