Hero steps out of the shadow, tear tracks running down their cheeks, “I’m sorry, they made me.”

Superhero stands next to hero, hand on their shoulder as hero flinches away. “Hey, villain. Let’s take a walk.”

caretaker pulls whumpee to the side during whumper's party and for a second, whumpee thinks they'll finally be able to get away, but their hope is squashed when they feel whumper's hand on their back and feel their breath on the back of their neck

caretaker always wakes whumpee up several times through the night. whumpee finally breaks over it and shouts, "Why don't you let me fucking sleep!?"

but what caretaker hasn't told whumpee is that the night they were rescued, whumpee died and caretaker heard their heart stop and felt their chest stop moving.

Whumper has Whumpee suspended in a human shaped cage that is ever so slightly too small for them so they’re completely immobilized for their torment.

After an insanely long time of torturing Whumpee, to the point that all that's left of Whumpee is trauma responses and survival tactics, Whumper abruptly decides they're "done" and assumes the role of a Caretaker for Whumpee.

The worst part is that Carewhumper is tender, gentle, and diligent; but does not feel even an ounce of remorse, despite their affection and nursing. They carefully tend to their injuries, bathe them soothingly + in warm water, listen to their wiles and woes, but they are apparent in their lack of remorse.

It drives Whumpee absolutely mad as they tried so, so hard to convince themself that Carewhumper felt bad for torturing them to survive; to think their torture was a mistake, or something of deep regret and shame. But it wasn't.

It gets to the point where Whumpee begs Carewhumper to lie to them and just say they feel bad; even if it's not true, it's easier to gaslight themself that way.

"When were you going to tell me?" caretaker asks, gently tracing over the scars along whumpee's skin, "were you going to tell me?"

"you didn't need to know," whumpee whispers, pulling away from caretaker's touch. "i didn't want to put that on you, I've put you through enough already."

Whumpee stifles their sobs behind their hand. They stare at the ceiling, trying to calm themself down after a particularly nasty nightmare. Finally, the tears stop and whumpee can catch their breath long enough to look at whumper next to them in bed.

hero has quick healing, which causes more issues than it fixes. bones heal crooked and need to be rebroken and set, cuts heal with nasty scars that never fade, and hero feels every second of their body trying to mend itself before its ready

Whumpee’s new owner is…weird. They keep trying to take care of whumpee, offering food and comfort when others have given nothing. Whumpee doesn’t trust them and the only thing they can do is sit there as caretaker tries so hard to connect with them
