Time for more Epic (the Musical) shower thoughts!!
I'm about 99% convinced that Zeus had Ody kill Hector's son because he's a spiteful prick and not because he actually would have grown up to be a vengeful monster. Like, think about it. Who actually would have told Astyanax that Ody killed his dad? Probably no one other than Zeus. Why? That was Achilles. EVERYONE KNEW THAT. Odysseus is credited with killing no one major up until that point. He would have been a Nobody (haha) if it weren't for the Trojan Horse. So why kill Astyanax? Well, maybe it could do with the fact that Achilles was Mr. High and Mighty's Great-Grandson..? And Paris, the bastard that started all of this killed him? And the Royals of Troy (Priam and Hecuba) were told to kill Paris and didn't? And so the consequence was to be the downfall of Troy, which meant the complete obliteration of the Troyal family... Just an idea. Maybe Ody was just the wrong person to come up on the baby. I mean, it would have made more sense for Agamemnon or Menelaus to kill the final Prince of Troy. Not some random General/King that literally did not want to go to war at all.
Also, think about it. Ody 100% would have been more careful about making his way home if he had an infant that he adopted. And might actually have taken 1-2 weeks tops... With all 600 still alive...
