So I've been thinking about how some of my favorite books vibe with one another, and a map might be a better format for this and this is really just for me to quiet my brain a little but whatever, here's the list:

A Lady's Guide to Scandal

Memory of Morning. It’s a one hit wonder but it really, really hits for me. She’s a ship doctor who gets shore leave and gets to hang out with her bluestocking family during the season in a not-Britain. There’s language of flowers. There’s alien-intelligence-giant-glowing-octopodes. There’s a wee little doggy. I haven’t enjoyed anything else by this author but damn do I keep rereading this one.

YALL i just finished reading "emily wildes encyclopedia of faeries" and i loved it and it really reminded me of "howl's moving castle" by diana wynne-jones. especially the love interest. nothing beats an egomaniac charming magical long haired blonde man. howl + wendell are such twinsies and i am LOOKING FOR MORE FANTASY/FICTION ROMANCE featuring love interests like them!!!!!! pleasepleasepleaseplease PLEASE send reccs of any similar books that come to mind!!! 😊😊🙏🙏

if you were going to tell me i would be in tears at the end of an eight-episode mockumentary on fucking freevee because not only did they manage to find one of the most genuine men on the planet earth to be part of their entirely-staged story, but because every single actor who got to know him longer than we did at the end said full-stop they’d fallen in love with him and were so happy to be his friend and had so much fun with him and because everyone acknowledged that he just went above and beyond time and time again every time he was faced with a moral or ethical dilemma and proved people ARE inherently good actually!!!

When I told my sister about the the worst thing that has ever happened to me (at least at the time) she told me something along the lines of “I know it really doesn’t feel like it right now but it will be okay. YOU will be okay, someday”. It’s true it really really is. I’ve hit rock bottom a lot, and I’m okay in the end

I fucking love Ferdinand

i was thinking tonight about ferdinand, the kid’s picture book, and i think it was one of the first stories ever where i read it and was able to recognize myself in it. like, where a character clicked with me in a way beyond just thinking they were cool or nice or something. on a reread, it made me feel very soft.

i, too, would like to just go home and sit under my shaded little spot under a tree even though folks seem to find it fun to try to get a rise out of me.

Older Gregor. College Gregor. Gregor training to be a social worker so he can help people in impossible situations without having to fight anyone. Pacifist Gregor who is trying not to get into fights but somehow ended up with a black eye anyway. Future Gregor.

Thought it was about time to write some of my headcanons about what happened after the series because I wanted to know more!

Gregor is still The Warrior, but he’s trying to do it a different way. No more wars, no more fighting, no more sides, no more death. Is he bored out of his mind with school and people who just don’t get it? Yes. But that’s why he’s studying so he can help people who went through what he did, kids in wars overseas who make rules with themselves about imaging after, or tell themselves thar this is their last day to live just so they can get up in the morning. Kids who deny themselves hope, because, what’s the point?

Anyway, I loved this week. Can’t believe I didn’t find these books sooner!
