Note
how much creative freedom do we have with coat patterns? is it realistic, full creative, can we have accessories?
Creative Freedom is encouraged! Coat patterns & colors are allowed to be fun and interesting, the general rule of thumb is if it is recognizable as a Warrior Cat it will be allowed, barring extremely saturated neon colors! You can also have accessories, as well as mutations, with physical appearances and such not being behind a paywall or limited. For example, here are two characters for other servers I've made that are perfectly acceptable in W&D (purple tinted, four ears, etc)

Hi!! Very interested in this roleplay, I’m happy to see another one based in New England. I was curious about what you were looking for on the staff team? Will there be specific jobs to sign up for?
Hello, really glad to hear you're interested!! New England is a really fun niche to fill in for roleplays! (I'd also LOVE to know what the other one is / if you run it! New England settings are a favorite for sure!)
For Staff Team, I'll be looking for specific jobs to fill in! Admin, Moderator, Coordinator, Lorekeeper, and Support will all be options!
Admins & Moderators both will be responsible for server overview to ensure the community remains safe, reading over and approving characters, making adjustments to server rules if needed, posting events and updates to keep members in the know, and working with suggestions to make the server a comfortable place for everyone!
On top of that, Admins will be responsible for working with other Admins & Owner to work on any upcoming lore or suggestions for seasonal stories, and help be responsible for server activity and any relevant forms such as other Staff Forms or High Rank Forms!
Coordinators will be responsible for planning any events, such as facilitating art fight or like events, secret Santa's, IC large scale events such as Gatherings or festivals, game or movie nights if applicable, and ensuring bots such as QOTD remain functioning with fresh questions!
Lorekeepers will be responsible for updating and maintaining worldbuilding and lore as it changes, such as timelines, server wide actions, allegiances, assisting with character building help, assist in lore related questions, and collaborating with other staff to ensure everything is running smoothly.
Support will be responsible for welcoming new members and helping them get situated, answering questions when able and directing people to applicable staff when needed, and helping here or there when possible! Support is Staff all the same, but is more for those that don't have enough time to dedicate to the server while still wanting to help!
Thank you for the question, I'll be posting a further in depth look at what will be looked for as far as roles go in Staffing this week!

Widdershins & Deosil is slated to soft open sometime in June!
What does this mean?
The server will be open publicly to start with, utilizing a verification system in server to vet joining members! Minor things will be finished during that time, such as filing out the bestiary more fully, taking suggestions on server structure, and so on.
During this time, joining members will be able to explore the server and encouraged to get to know one another!
Also during this time, Partnerships, Staff Applications and High Rank Applications will be open!
Staff & HR Apps will utilize Google Forms, and will also be posted to the Tumblr as well as in server for as much exposure as possible!
Once Staff and HRs are filled, full roleplay will start, including any systems such as weather, prompts, and so on, and the server will hard open! Depending on the amount of members gained during the soft opening, W&D could switch to Application Based joining to prevent new and old Staff from becoming overwhelmed!
As it stands, what is left to be completed in server & on the tumblr is each Kins information pages, any custom commands that need to be tied up, a character submission & allegiances document, and any relevant forms and touching up needed, as well as a website!
So be sure to stay on the lookout if interested, as with each passing day we're closer to completion! If you have any questions, please do reach out!

Widdershins & Deosil
A cozy horror warrior cats inspired roleplay exploring memory, myth, and the thin places between.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
SETTING OVERVIEW:
Somewhere deep in a New England forest, the land turns strange...
Widdershins & Deosil is a semi-literate and beyond length Warrior Cats inspired roleplay set in a folkloric version of the world where time folds in on itself, memories echo louder than names, and every rooted path might lead to a door that was never meant to open.
Here, a sun warmed glade may become a mirror of another life, or a forgotten den might remember you.
Four Kin make their home here, each settling in a cardinal direction and land that embodies their respective seasons. Each Kin holds its own beliefs, fears, rituals, and voice. They do not agree on the shape of the world, only that it watches back.
> ❄️ Frosthold Kin: stalwart and ceremonial, clinging to tradition in frostbitten silence
> 🌿 Willowhum Kin: soft voiced and reverent, keepers of memory and the river’s gentle hush
> 🍁 Embergrave Kin: liminal and ritual, seekers of the veiled and vanished
> ☀️ Suncleft Kin: blunt and living high above, bonedeep in grit, light, and generational grief
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
UNIQUE SYSTEMS & WORLD MECHANICS:
Birth Moons
Every cat is born under a Moon with its own temperament, shadow, and spiritual resonance, shaping how they are named, raised, and remembered. These twelve Moons reflect seasonal shifts, inner archetypes, and the mythic cycle of decay and renewal, akin to our own zodiacs.
The Widdershins Deck
A Kin crafted divination system of four suits and a Major Arcana, drawn during turning points in life: ceremonies, deaths, transitions, omens. Each card carries layered meaning and symbolism, with room for interpretation.
Omen & Naming System
Names are never meaningless. Many Kin receive names based on witnessed omens, such as a deer caught in brambles, lightning with no storm, or a silent owl. These events are interpreted by Seers, Elders, or parents, and the names carry power, reputation, and fate.
Specializations
Every adult Kin selects a Specialization within their chosen rank. Rather than unique roles on their owns, cats refine their paths by filling niches where they find themselves most capable of excelling.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
ROLEPLAY STRUCTURE:
Liquid Time: Players may have multiple threads across time and space, enabling rich personal storytelling and character arcs without restriction.
Season Cycle: The server runs on a structured 3 month on, 1 month off rotation for balance and rest. Each seasonal cycle brings new server wide events, ceremonies, environmental shifts, and cryptid stirrings.
Player Driven, Open World
There is no single main plot. Instead, the world reacts to the Kin’s choices, whispers, trespasses, and personal lives. Staff curates prompts, thresholds, and lore expansions, but the path is chosen by the Kin. You open the door, we only write what answers.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
ATMOSPHERE & TONE
Widdershins & Deosil is best described as cozy horror. Not jumpscares, but instead unease. Not monsters under the bed, rather the action of opening doors and the consequences of doing so, and seeing what looks back at you. It is fog dampened fur and half remembered rites, red yarn in a hollow tree, and a name that feels borrowed on your tongue.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
WHAT TO EXPECT
- 18+ (SFW) Community ; LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and Disabled Safe Space
- Creative Freedom in Creating Characters with many optional mechanics such as omens or the Deck that allow to deepen the experience
- Above Optional mechanics that enhance, not restrict, many of which with custom commands in the server
- Folklore fueled, player driven narrative tone
- Character & Member spotlights to draw light to members of the community, with rules to ensure no one gets left behind or ignored!
- Events, ceremonies, cryptids, an in depth flora and fauna bestiary, and more!
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
🕯️ Walk Widdershins to lose your name here. Walk Deosil to earn it back. 🕯️

Ranks, Structure, & Specializations
Widdershins and Deosil Almanac | The Structures of the Kins of the World
The Kins follow a cyclical path of learning, mentorship, and eventual return, whether to the soil, the stories, or the stars. No Kin is ever without place. Each rank is a thread in the loom, each life a turning of the wheel.
══════════════════
Overall, the Kins follow a relatively similar overall structure to traditional Clans, with some key differences, along with Specializations.
Leaders remain the same, as do Deputies.
Medicine Cats have been renamed and split into two separate roles due to the connotations that follow and appropriation surrounding the term "medicine cat":
Botanist, the traditional herb keeper and healer of the group,
and
Seer, the spiritual guide, intepreter of omens and rites of the group.
Warriors remain relatively the same.
Apprentice's have been split into two as well:
Novices, who are freshly made apprentices, spending time with the whole camp for a few months learning the ins and outs, before becoming...
Fledglings, an apprentice who has fledged so to speak, and has chosen an overall path to follow, and instead of training under the whole camp as Novices do, trains under a mentor of their path.
Queens have been turned into Caretakers, and have an overall focus on Kin health and hearth, tending kits, architecture, and spending vigil with the dying.
Kits and Elders also remain the same, with the caveat that Elders have a larger role and are not pushed to the back of a camp and forgotten. Now... how about those
══════════════════
Specializations?
To become a full member of a rank typically does not just mean calling it one and done. Specific ranks will have Specializations, niches further carved out in history by Kin who excelled in areas others did not. Botanists, Seers, Warriors, and Caretakers all have individual specializations.
This function also allows for Widdershins & Deosil to explore unique ranks without creating an overwhelming amount to be filled for each group, while also allowing for a more unique creative process for members to apply a characters special skills somewhere!
This of course includes a Generalist for each of these Ranks for those that wish to simply follow a linear path or find the options too overwhelming!
══════════════════
More about Specializations will be posted in the future for individual ranks, so keep an eye out!

Names, Omens, and Their Meanings
Widdershins & Deosil Almanac | Omen System
Overview.
The Kin do not name in the way outsiders do. They interpret. Each life is marked by signs: at birth, in moments of transformation, in final breath. These signs are not decorative. They are warnings, blessings, burdens, or calls. The Kin read them the way others read maps or scripture.
An omen is not a message.
It is a door, a threshold, opening right before you. Whether you choose to cross or close it is up to you.
══════════════════
Noticing & Interpreting
── ࣪˖ ࣪ ⊹ ࣪ ˖ ──
Omens are not constant. They arrive only at thresholds: moments of crossing, silence, blood, or change. These may include:
- The moment of emergence (birth).
- The crossing from one stage of life to another (apprenticeship, elderhood, rites of passage).
- After a troublesome or paranormal encounter.
- When approaching death, natural or otherwise.
- During rites, especially those under moonlight, storm, or eclipse.
These omens are witnessed and read by elders, seers, or those who have trained themselves to listen between things. They are not always visible, as some are sounds, dreams, silences, or sensations. Interpretation is neither fixed nor universally agreed upon among the Kin.
What is considered a dark sign in one Kin may be a revered one in another. The same omen, in different moons, speaks differently.
Interpretation methods may include:
- Watching water or weather patterns
- Recording dream fragments
- Observing animal behavior
- Reading shadows by firelight
- Bone or stone casting
- Listening for noises in sacred hollows
- Plant decay cycles and blooming anomalies
══════════════════
Omen Naming System
What is an Omen Name?
In Widdershins & Deosil, names are more than identity: they are fatebound echoes observed at birth, chosen during rites, or whispered by the unseen. An Omen Name is the full name of a cat that reflects signs, visions, or events surrounding their arrival, purpose, or transformation.
Names may change once or more in a lifetime, usually during moments of spiritual upheaval, big life changes, or paranormal intervention. Each Kin interprets omens differently, but all recognize their weight.
── ࣪˖ ࣪ ⊹ ࣪ ˖ ──
Structure of an Omen Name
- Prefix. Interpreted from the omen at birth or during naming rites. This may reference:
- Weather patterns
- Animal behavior
- Strange sounds or sightings
- Plant life, decay, or anomalies
- Emotional impressions from those present
- Suffix. Often bestowed later in life (at fledging, promotion, or revelation), typically shaped by:
- Deeds or personality
- Role or specialization
- Repeated dreams or signs
- A second omen or inherited vision
══════════════════
Omens Are Not Instructions.
They do not demand. They suggest.
One may live under a heavy omen and still be beloved. One may bear a shining sign and become monstrous.
It is not the omen that defines. It is the path one walks beneath it.
However, omens tend to follow. A cat marked once may find themselves shadowed again by similar signs, similar dreams, or similar patterns.
Remember that, much like the Widdershins Deck, this is a lot of flavor for character creation, and can help create or build a character, but does not define them!

⟢ Willowhum Kin
“Whispered downstream, never lost.”
═════════════════════
› Biome: Riparian Woodlands & Wet Meadows
› Season: Spring
› Direction: East
・・・・・
› Associated Elements: Water
› Associated Suit: Chimes
› Known for: Memory, Charmwork, Gentle Connection,
› Theme: Soft Resilience, Intuition, The Power of Voice and Name
═════════════════════
═════════════════════
Among the meandering streams and flowering banks, Willowhum Kin resides where the water sings and the reeds hum with spring song. Their dens are tucked beneath twisted willow roots and woven with reeds and cattails. These cats live gently but wisely, leaving offerings of pebbles or shells in the currents as signs or messages. They believe every stream carries memories, and name their young with omens drawn from reflected sky and drifting leaves. Shells, bits of glass, reeds, and other river trinkets are crafted and strung into charms and chimes, each tied to a deeper meaning and hung among the willow branches. Communication is tender and ceremonial, humming, murmurings, and touch carry deeper meaning than words alone. Speech is ritual here, a well placed word carries more weight than a sharpened claw. Stories are passed through lullabies and songs, shared at dusk along the water’s edge.

⟢ Suncleft Kin
"We stand where others falter. The edge is our home."
═════════════════════
› Biome: Rocky Cliffs & Uplands
› Season: Summer
› Direction: South
・・・・・
› Associated Elements: Light
› Associated Suit: Strikes
› Known for: Vigilance, Trialborn Strength, Swift Action
› Theme: Clarity, Balance, Sun-Forged Growth
═════════════════════
═════════════════════
High above the forest floor, Suncleft Kin dwells in scorched stone, narrow wind blasted ledges and sun drenched clefts above the rest of the world below where few dare to tread. Agile and daring, they nest in cracks of stone and time shaped caverns, clinging to the cliffside, always watching from above and reachable only by narrow trails and leaping paths. They are watchers: the first to see lightning split the sky, the first to call danger from the horizon. Young cats are trained early to tread across ledges and how to read the shifting winds, as well as taught that balance in the body creates clarity in the mind. They treat balance as sacred, not just of paw, but of the mind, judgement, and action. To fall is to fail, but to rise again is to understand. Their rites of passage often involved navigating the highest outcroppings to retrieve symbolic stones. Storm watching is treated as a sacred vigil here. This Kin lives by the edge, and protects it with radiant pride.

“From ash, again and again.”
═════════════════════
› Biome: Deciduous Forest & Bog Hollows
› Season: Autumn
› Direction: West
・・・・・
› Associated Elements: Decay
› Associated Suit: Shards
› Known for: Firekeeping, Reverence for Decay, Death Rites
› Theme: Legacy, Transience, Sacred Endings
═════════════════════
═════════════════════
Nestled within leaf choked hollows and mist draped groves, Embergrave Kin lives close to death, but not in fear of it, residing where the golden canopy above gives way to the rot below. Their mossy nests cluster around smoldering log piles, where fires are coaxed carefully by friction and sun, among rusted leaves, bog hollows, and scorched tree rings. Their nights are lit by phosphorescent fungi and fire alike. They honor decay as divine: each fallen branch, each withered name a gift. Their dead are returned to the forest with offerings, and the living wear ash or berry dyes to remember them. To them, grief is not an end, but the warmth left behind. Kits are taught that every fallen leaf is a teacher, and death is a passage to something greater than themselves. This Kin’s name giving and funerary rites are detailed and sacred, often involving fungus offerings and firelight reflections.

The Widdershins Deck
Widdershins & Deosil Almanac | The Major Cards & Minor Suits
── ⟡ ˙
·········
The Widdershins Deck is a divinatory and reflective tool used across Kin cultures, especially by Seers, truth seekers, and those who walk among the liminal thresholds. Each card speaks in symbols older than language, drawing upon the seasons, directions, echoes, grief, and becoming. Readings are not promises, instead they are doorways, waiting to be interpreted and waiting to be crossed.
This deck moves counterclockwise through the wheel of life, tracing the cycle from legacy, through awakening, into trial, and ending in release.
══════════════════
🌙 The Major Arcana
The Path of the Unseen Thread
The Major Arcana consists of 21 cards, each representing a turning point, a sacred archetype, or a mirror too deep to look away from. They move between Widdershins' Child walking counterclockwise, to the Deosil Flame spiraling inward forever, reflecting transformation, decay, insight, and return.
Some known cards include:
- The Crone's Thread: The thread of fate, raveling or unraveling alike, following paths or breaking free.
- The Bone Fruit: Temptation and its hidden consequences and costs. Whether it's worth it or not.
- The Worm Beneath The Cairn: Buried secrets, festering guilt, and being eaten alive by it. Something stirring from beneath.
- The Bramble Bride: Belonging to something, or being claimed by it. Martyrdom or surrender.
- The Widdershins Child: Alienation, taboo, following where you were not meant to go.
- The Deosil Flame: Obsession or drive. What happens when what fuels you consumes you.
Each Major Card bears a riddle: not a fate, but a consequence, an interpretation.
Read More Below to read more about this system present in Widdershins & Deosil!
🍂 The Minor Arcana
The Four Sacred Suits
Each Minor Arcana suit contains 14 cards total: Ace through Ten, and four court figures: Seer, Deputy, Botanist, Leader (taking place of Page, Knight, Queen, and King respectively).
Each suit aligns with a season, direction, echo, and Kin tradition. Each also speaks a different language and symbolizes something specific: burden, breath, blaze, and break.
══════════════════
🪨 The Cairns
Season: Winter
Direction: North
Element: Stone & Ice
Aspect: Material, Legacy, Endurance
Kin Echo: Frosthold Kin Associated, ancestral stewards, lorekeepers
“We carry what came before us, and shape what comes after.”
·········
Cards in this suit mark burdens, duties, ancestral truths, and the slow, enduring weight of memory. These are trials of survival, long toil, and sacred stability.
══════════════════
🎐 The Chimes
Season: Spring
Direction: East
Element: Wind & Charm
Aspect: Emotion, Intuition, Awakening
Kin Echo: Willowhum Kin, charmweavers, emotional connections
“Even silence hums, if you listen long enough.”
·········
This suit often speaks in feelings, omens, soft choices, and kinship. They mark where relationships stir and hearts shift, often gently, and yet often suddenly.
══════════════════
⚡The Strikes
Season: Summer
Direction: South
Element: Light & Stone
Aspect: Action, Identity, Sacred Trial
Kin Echo: Suncleft Kin, stormwatchers, ledge walkers
“Some truths arrive in fire.”
·········
This suit most often deals with and is interpreted in decisions, power, conviction, and sacred motion. The Strikes are not random, they are chosen. Each bolt hits something, whether realized or not.
══════════════════
🕯️ The Shards
Season: Autumn
Direction: West
Element: Fire & Decay
Aspect: Mind, Severance, Endings
Kin Echo: Embergrave Kin, dusk walkers, gravebinders
“The end does not mean silence, only that the sound has changed.”
·········
This suit often cuts gently and precisely. They deal in grief, memory, reckoning, and necessary endings. They ask what must be broken, and what was never whole to begin with.
══════════════════
Interpreting a Draw
It is important to remember that these pulls are not condemning or straight cut. Cards in the Widdershins Deck are interpretive, not deterministic.
The same card may mean ruin, relief, or responsibility, depending on how it falls and who reads it.
That said, from an OOC lore standpoint, this is merely flavor to help in decisions, potential backstory for a character being developed, or so on!
