COMFORT— Héctor Fort x Pau Cubarsí. ────୨ৎ────
Tumblr media Tumblr media
────¡No warnings! ──── Pau Cubarsí & Héctor Fort ──── +1.7k words... ¡English is not my first language! and I did what I could with this idea. If you don't like it, screw you yo vine aquí a devorar ────୨ৎ────
Minute 58. Iduna Park signal.
Barcelona was winning 1-0 against Borussia Dortmund. The Blaugrana were controlling the game, but the German team was tirelessly looking for an equalizer.
A cross from the right wing flew into the Barça area. Pau Cubarsí, focused on the Guirassy brand, detected the danger. The forward was positioned to shoot, and in a desperate attempt, Pau pushed him slightly, seeking to destabilize him and prevent the shot. But Serhou fell to the ground, which the referee interpreted as a deliberate push and awarded the penalty.
The Barça players complained. Iñaki Peña raised his arms, protesting angrily, while several colleagues approached Pau in frustration. He tried to explain his perspective and say what had happened. However, his words were lost among the complaints that his companions made of him.
Guirassy converted the penalty, tying the score. Pau felt a pang of guilt and the burden of responsibility. Still, he forced himself to concentrate on the game.
Finally, Barcelona managed to win 3-2 with a double from Ferran in the last 15 minutes. However, the final whistle did not bring relief for Pau, as the feeling of having failed continued to weigh on him. As he headed to the locker room tunnel, Flick, his coach, stopped him to talk.
Flick told him that he knew he didn't have much experience, but he couldn't make a mistake like that anyway. Pau didn't say anything and simply stayed silent; then he went to the locker room. Pau sat for a while without talking to anyone, but after a while, he changed his clothes and went to the bus that was waiting for them to return to the hotel. He went to the back seats, where he sat by the window. Héctor Fort sat next to him and saw Pau deep in thought. He looked at his face and decided to speak.
"Pau, are you okay?" Fort asked him as he caught the Girona native's attention.
“Yes, yes, I am fine.” Fort didn't believe a word he said. He knew him too well to know that he was lying to him. He remained silent for a few seconds, thinking about what to say.
“Pau…” he whispered softly. “I know you're not well. You can talk to me.”
Pau sighed, letting his shoulders fall and relaxing slightly.
“I feel terrible, Héctor…” Pau confessed in a low voice. “I committed that shitty penalty and almost ruined everything... Everyone was mad at me. "I couldn't even explain it."
Héctor frowned and then told him, “You didn't ruin anything, Pau. We won… And if you made a mistake, yes, you did, but you can't do anything now… The important thing is not to make a mistake but to be able to solve it, to learn from your mistake.” Fort says as he begins to hug him and caress his back. Pau looked at him with eyes full of insecurity.
“What if I fail again? What if I'm not as good as you think?”
Héctor simply leaned towards Pau and wrapped both arms around him, squeezing him tightly to his chest. He felt how Pau relaxed in the hug. It should be noted that Fort is not very good at comforting people, but at least he tried.
They had already arrived at the hotel, and Pau had gone to his room.
Fort was in his room, watching a series when a notification arrived on his phone, which he checked immediately since he took advantage of the fact that he had it in his hand.
"Thank you for being with me today. I needed it."
Héctor sighed, putting the phone aside. I knew that Pau was still thinking about the same issue since he got on the bus. He looked at the clock. It wasn't that late, and he knew him well enough to imagine that he was probably alone in his room.
He picked up his phone again and wrote a quick message:
"Pau, come to my room for a while."
"I don't want to bother Héctor."
"Don't bother. Come. I'm already in my pajamas, so I'm not going to go."
A while later, he heard the faint sound of knocking on the door. He smiled to himself, getting out of bed to answer it. On the other side was Pau, in a sweatshirt and sweatpants, with his hair messy.
“Come in, come on,” said Héctor, opening the door wide.
Pau came in and sat on the edge of Héctor's bed. He looked around, as if he didn't know what to do with his hands, then left them on top of his thighs. Héctor took a pillow and hit it. —He couldn't think of any other way to distract him.—
Héctor looked at him, raising an eyebrow when Pau didn't flinch and began to play with the pillow he had previously thrown at him.
“What's wrong?” Héctor asked, suspecting that something was going through his mind.
Pau looked up with a slight smile.
“Nothing, I'm just thinking you might need a lesson for throwing this pillow at me.
Héctor let out a mocking laugh, standing up.
"You? Give me a lesson? Come on, try it.”
Without thinking much, Pau threw the pillow directly at his face. Héctor received the blow, without waiting for Pau to take another one and start hitting him with it.
“Oh, okay! Now you really earn it, Cubarsí, said Héctor, hitting him back with more force than Pau expected.
In a matter of seconds, Héctor's room became a kind of battlefield, with blows going from one side to the other, laughter filling the space. Pau, already distracted from the game.
The pillow “fight” came to an end; they both fell onto the bed, panting and laughing. Pau, still breathing hard, fell next to Hector, but instead of staying still, he moved until he rested his head on his chest, as if looking for a refuge that would calm his thoughts.
Héctor, a little surprised at first, simply put an arm over Pau, gently reciprocating the hug. He didn't say anything, just let the silence speak for them as his hand moved slowly down Pau's back.
“Thank you,” Pau whispered, barely audible.
“Why?” Hector asked kindly.
Pau closed his eyes, letting himself be carried away by the calm that Héctor transmitted to him. The constant rhythm of the heartbeat in his friend's chest was hypnotic, as if all the noise in his head was fading little by little.
Pau breathed deeply, as if he was trying to synchronize with his best friend's heartbeat. He remained silent for a moment, enjoying the calm that the boy gave him.
"Because you don't judge me," he finally responded, his voice low. "Everyone was so... angry, disappointed. But you... You just listened to me."
Hector smiled softly and shook his head.
"Leave that topic behind you, fool."
"I'm trying, but... it's difficult," Pau admitted, closing his eyes.
“Just stop that. You already did it, and we won,” said Héctor, slapping him on the head.
Pau frowned and put a hand to his head behind Héctor's neck.
“Was that necessary?” he asked, complaining.
“Of course, so you can stop talking about it. That's enough for today,” Hector responded with a calm smile.
Pau looked at him for a moment, in silence, as if he were considering his words. Finally, he sighed and slumped his shoulders.
“That's fine; I'll try,” he said quietly, though there was a slight hesitation in his words.
“It's okay, and what better way not to think than to stay here with me, watching something on TV until you fall asleep,” Héctor suggested naturally, not wanting to be left alone.
Pau looked up, surprised.
“Do you want me to stay?”
“What do you think? If I didn't want to, I would have already kicked you out,” Héctor responded with a lopsided smile.
Pau hesitated for a moment, but finally dropped onto the bed, moving off of Hector's chest and lying on hmoment
“Okay, I'll stay,” he said, looking at the ceiling. “But don't make me watch one of those bad shows you always have on,” he turned to look at Fort.
“Bad series? Sorry, my series are art,” Héctor replied, pretending to be offended while grabbing the controller.
He turned on the television and began to browse through the options, finally deciding on something quite childish, to be honest—it was literally a children's series. Pau settled better in bed, burying his head in a pillow while Héctor sat next to him, with his back against the headboard.
They both stayed silent as the first few scenes filled the screen. Pau was much calmer now, so much so that he seemed not to be there. Suddenly, Héctor gave him a slight push with his elbow.
“What are you thinking?” he asked without looking away from the television.
Pau hesitated before answering. “Nothing…” he admits, and it was true; he was just watching TV.
Héctor was calm with that and stroked her hair gently.
The episode progressed, and the room was illuminated by the bluish light of the screen. Pau began to relax more with the caresses, which made him fall asleep slowly; his eyelids were beginning to feel heavy.
Héctor noticed this and lowered the volume of the television without turning it off completely. He glanced askance at Pau, who seemed on the verge of falling asleep.
There was a lot of silence in the room. Pau, with slow breathing, was no longer fighting sleep. Héctor looked down, watching his friend give in to fatigue and fall asleep.
Carefully, Héctor moved his arm, sliding it so that Pau was more comfortable. His fingers ran through his friend's dark hair again, caressing him.
He turned off the television and the light, lay down next to his friend, and covered them both with a blanket. Pau was very calm there asleep, and Héctor, despite having managed to distract him, couldn't help but feel strange, as if there was something bigger between them that he never dared to acknowledge.
What if I could tell him? Héctor wondered, as he looked at his friend, observing how he rested in peace.
His heart skipped a beat as he thought about how everything could change if the words were finally able to come out of his mouth. But it was late. Pau was asleep, confident and calm, oblivious to the thoughts that were going through Héctor's mind. And I had no desire to take away that peace of mind.
Then, with an almost imperceptible sigh, Héctor stroked Pau's hair again and, in the end, allowed himself a short rest. Maybe at some point it would be the right time, he thought.
But that moment was not today, nor tomorrow, maybe never.

I can write player x player, player x reader, or whatever you want; be specific with your request, and if it is a song, leave the meaning to make it easier for me.
