Things I watched in 2023 [6/12]: Jeeves and Wooster (1990–1993)
"Jeeves, I'm sure that nothing is further from your mind, but you know, you have a way of saying, 'Indeed, sir' which gives the impression it is only a feudal sense of what is fitting which prevents you from substituting the words 'Says you!'"

Paul Thévenaz, Faun, circa 1920.
“Anachronism and exotism [sic] ought to be conquered; then there would be no more anachronisms and exotisms, because by destroying time and space in reality, we should arrive at such a practical and simple way of dealing with all the works of the dead and the foreign that there would not be any more uneasiness or self-consciousness.”

I don't know if you've ever noticed this, but first impressions are often entirely wrong. You can look at a painting for the first time, for example, and not like it at all, but after looking at it a little longer you may find it very pleasing.

If you're mentally ill, chronically ill or otherwise disabled, do yourself a favor and consciously work to dismantle the "if you're too sick to go to work you're also too sick to be on the computer" mindset which got drilled into most of us during childhood. You don't have to deny yourself joy. You don't have to directly or indirectly punish yourself for not being able to do certain things. It doesn't help anyone. All it does is make you even more miserable than you have to be. So make sure you don't punish yourself for being sick. Make sure you don't subconsciously sabotage yourself with the idea that you have to be punished for not being abled. Make sure you embrace the joy you can find instead of denying yourself out of unnecessary guilt.
