Omg you’re writing more the boogeyman? You have no idea how ecstatic that makes me. I binged that whole fic it was SUCH genius. I wanted to kudos and comment SO badly but ff only allows reviews so I can’t wait to inundate you with compliments on every chapter when you get it on Ao3. I NEVER use ff anymore because I dislike the format but your writing was so brilliant it didn’t matter. Do you already have an Ao3 I can subscribe to?
Yes. 😁 The formatting is way better on Ao3 and the community is healthier. I have the same handle to make it easy to find me. And thank you! I'm at break at work and this was such a pleasant surprise to see.

I read your Ron with an ED piece and it’s 💔. Was it a one shot or did I miss other parts?
I was in the middle of working on a much larger project for Ron suffering from an ED piece. The one you saw posted was one I tossed out of the outline because it compromised the story I was trying to tell.
The bigger piece is actually heavily Ron and Neville Friendship.
Excerpt:
The most bizarre thing to ever happen to Ron- more so than running into a Hag crossdressing as a goblin, was having Neville Longbottom throw him against a wall.
He was honestly too shocked to be angry.
“Um, what’s up Nev?”
“You promised,” Neville snarled.
“Promised what?” Ron said blankly, staring at the much shorter sixth year. Last he’d seen of Neville was in the common room last night and nothing had been out of sorts then so he was sort of drawing a white slate here.
“You’ve started changing in the bathroom,” Neville said in disgust, shoving him away. “You think I don’t know what that means?”
Ron relaxed marginally, relieved to know what had upset the normally gentle Gryffindor. He waved his hand dismissively, smiling and nudging Neville away from him.
“Don’t get your knickers in a twist. I’m eating plenty, I just…” Ron grimaced, not wanting to put the problem into words. “I had another growth spurt and… it caused… wardrobe malfunctions.” He knows his ears are burning red. He unconsciously crossed his arms, feeling his shirt stretch tight over his back as he avoided Neville’s eyes.  “I’ve been using magic to loosen the seems,” he admitted unwillingly. “And now their falling apart.”
Neville was quiet for a long moment before sighing.
“I’ve got an idea, but you’re probably not going to like it.”
Before Ron could question what he was going on about, he found his arm grabbed and Neville was dragging him down the hall.
“I’m not taking money or clothes from you,” Ron told him bluntly.
“Of course not,” Neville said airily. “Because you’re a Weasley and that would be sensible and we all know Weasley’s aren’t sensible.”
“We aren’t pity cases,” Ron hissed.
“Godric forbid a Weasley have a human weakness,” Neville said, rolling his eyes as he spoke. Ron decided this new found confidence Neville was showing was not his cup of tea. Every time Nev decided he had a backbone and a mouth, it seemed it was directed at Ron rather than in his favor.
End Excerpt.
But the piece seems to be coming together to be about the Dorm room boys: Harry, Ron, Neville, Dean, Seamus as the central cast.
Which is fun. I've not seen many stories featuring them. Which I think is part of the reason I got rid of Fred and George as it made the story more family focused.
I decided a while ago that I want to complete entire manuscripts before I post because I've become notorious for long times without posting. This is my way of fixing that issue is to just write the whole project no matter how long it takes and THEN start posting.
I've got like 6 half written projects- most 100k plus at this point. Including the first year of my Grim Ron story. Quite a few arcs ahead of Spitfire. And some more thorough writing of Boogeyman along with other projects.
Once I have them fully finished I'll post everything on Archives rather than fanfiction.net as that place seems to have fallen to the homophobes. I've gotten a LOT of poisonous things sent to me about Spitfire through PM's and I'm not having it. Same username though for anyone who wants to find the pieces.
But yes, this is one of the projects.

Steve Harrington Advice for Dating
So I've been thinking about Stranger Things for a bit: Specifically this line between Steve Harrington and Dustin. "Just act like you don't care." [In concerns to getting a girl to date you]. And I was trying to figure out why it was so bad and yet... very accurate advice because the results can't be denied. Women do fall for the 'I don't care' thing. A lot. And after thinking about it A LOT.
Well, the more I thought about it the more I realized it's not the 'I don't care' bit. It's the this boy appears to be respecting my personal space and giving me room. He's not harassing me. He talks to me, but not in a, I want to move in on you, type of way. So it works. But not for the reasons guys think it does. It's because the 'I don't care' comes across as the 'treating you like a human being' thing.
It's a reinforced thought process because girls are attracted to it. They like being treated like people. But since there's such a huge disconnect and a lack of ability to verbalize these types of things in young adulthood as you're coming into your own. It gets misinterpreted.
This was inspired when I was reading a fic where the girls told Steve that was terrible advice and I found myself disagreeing, but couldn't figure out why. Like, yes, it's horrible advice from a human perspective. From a place of respect and relationships. But if you're a guy just trying to get a date then... well. Unfortunately, it's very good advice with very solid evidence supporting it. It's only when you dive into the 'why does this bad thing actually work?' that you understand better the mechanics of it all.
So for the young fellows out there: It's not the 'I don't care' attitude that's attractive. It's the 'I respect you as a person and will treat you as a person first rather than something I'm hunting.' And yes, guys, unfortunately when we are asked out excitedly/aggressively/boldly it does come across as feeling hunted. Get to know a girl first as a friend before you ask them out. And be okay with it if they say no.

For anyone who needs to hear this: Your feelings are valid.
And if you're anything like me, that sort of just gets you an eye roll, but hear me out. Okay? Hear me out.
I've suffered from the 'it's not that bad' 'suck it up' 'don't be a little bitch. Get up.' mentality for as long as I can remember.
So one day I was telling myself: 'Look, you're just being dramatic. it's not a big deal. You're not being neglected. People would notice if you disappeared.'
But look, man, I was determined to prove myself wrong. I was determined to measure precisely how dramatic I was being. We had a three-day weekend in my freshman year of high school. And I was like, okay, I'll just test it out. I'll see how long it takes my mom to come looking for me. For anyone to come looking for me.
So I turned off the lights in my room, left the door a crack. All signs I wasn't there. I even gave my mother hints that something was wrong, okay? We weren't allowed to leave the house for any reason. We never got to go anywhere but school. I didn't have friends. We didn't have family close by. There was LITERALLY nowhere but that house in the middle of nowhere I could have been at.
I was never anywhere else. Trying to go anywhere meant having to break my mom. Having to get her angry. To get out, you needed to annoy her into compliance, until she was screaming at you to get out. Until she was snarling at you to leave. There was no other way to get permission. She both didn't want anything to do with you and despised the very idea of you being away. I wasn't capable of it. Not then, at least.
I grabbed a cup of water in case I got thirsty. I set up a tiny nook that was hidden inside of a closet. And then I waited. Three fucking days I waited- not making a sound, before giving up. I stayed there with only a cup of water I refilled at one in the morning. Used the restroom twice when everyone else was asleep. And not one fucking person came looking for me. Not for dinner (the only meal we got in that house during that time). Not to make sure I was asleep. Not so much as a peak in the door.
I gave up out of sheer boredom and hunger.
Wasted an entire three-day weekend on this. Three whole days I could have been reading or writing or fucking around doing kid stuff or whatever. But like a fucking idiot I had sat there. Waiting for anyone to realize I wasn't there. That something was wrong. The worst part was when I finally gave up, I found my mom smoking on the porch, and she just blinked at me as I stared at her and she said: Hey, haven't seen you in a minute.
As if she was just realizing that she had indeed NOT seen me in a while.
So listen to me when I say: Your feelings are valid.
Listen to your own emotions and trust them. Don't let the world convince you that your feelings are not legitimate. Not even yourself. Whatever you're feeling, there's a reason those feelings exist.
And maybe you're like me and you desperately wanted to meet the people in books because THEY would care. And maybe reading these stories helps you in the way they helped me growing up. And these stories… they're free.
They were written with the despair and happiness of other people's souls.
And yeah, that might be fucking corny, but just because it's corny doesn't mean it's not true.
We've come together as a community to write not just stories, but expressions of emotions that have bled onto the pages. In the desperate hope that we might connect with others and that someone out there might see it and feel a smidge better.
So don't fucking censor yourself and don't tell yourself that your feelings aren't important. Don't try to invalidate yourself because someone out there might have it worse than you. Your feelings ARE valid even if at the moment, you're the only person who cares about those feelings.
Know that the reason why I keep writing- will always write, is because I'm hoping it reaches all those who have sat in closets for one reason or another realizing with dread that no one is going to come. Because I want to write the characters who will keep you stubbornly trucking on. The stories that will inspire you to get up one more time if only to find out what happens next. That's why even when I get my own pieces out there, I won't ever stop writing fanfiction. Even if the fandoms change or the characters who drag my ass out of bed are new ones. Because in a lot of ways it's more viable for people to click on a link on a site than travel to a library to check out a book or buy one in the store.
I don't know who is reading this.
But know that I'm writing it for you.

Ron's return, or what Ron wouldn't have done to find Harry and Hermione again ?
Alternative title: if you hate Ron Weasley you're wrong.
We all know what I'm talking about, but I feel like none of us have really discussed what Ron did before saving Harry's life in the frozen pond. Even I had not realized the lengths Ron went to in order to find Harry and Hermione again before I really looked into the situation. So let's compile the excerpts that give clues as to what happened.
It was snowing by the time Hermione took over the watch at midnight. Harry’s dreams were confused and disturbing: Nagini wove in and out of them, first through a wreath of Christmas roses. He woke repeatedly, panicky, convinced that somebody had called out to him in the distance, imagining that the wind whipping around the tent was footsteps or voices.
[...]
Here too snow lay on the trees all around and it was bitterly cold, but they were at least protected from the wind. They spent most of the day inside the tent, huddled for warmth around the useful bright blue flames that Hermione was adept at producing, and which could be scooped up and carried in a jar. Harry felt as though he was recuperating from some brief but severe illness, an impression reinforced by Hermione’s solicitousness. That afternoon fresh flakes drifted down upon them, so that even their sheltered clearing had a fresh dusting of powdery snow.
[...]
“Long story,” said Ron. “I’ve been looking for you for hours, it’s a big forest, isn’t it? And I was just thinking I’d have to go kip under a tree and wait for morning when I saw that dear coming and you following.”
[...]
“It doesn’t just turn the lights on and off,” said Ron. “I don’t know how it works or why it happened then and not any other time, because I’ve been wanting to come back ever since I left. But I was listening to the radio really early on Christmas morning and I heard… I heard you.”
[...]
“It sort of floated toward me,” said Ron, illustrating the movement with his free index finger, “right to my chest, and then - it just went straight through. It was here,” he touched a point close to his heart, “I could feel it, it was hot. And once it was inside me, I knew what I was supposed to do. I knew it would take me where I needed to go. So I Disapparated and came out on the side of a hill. There was snow everywhere…” “We were there,” said Harry. “We spent two nights there, and the second night I kept thinking I could hear someone moving around in the dark and calling out!” “Yeah, well, that would’ve been me,” said Ron. “Your protective spells work, anyway, because I couldn’t see you and I couldn’t hear you. I was sure you were around, though, so in the end I got in my sleeping bag and waited for one of you to appear. I thought you’d have to show yourselves when you packed up the tent.” “No, actually,” said Hermione. “We’ve been Disapparating under the Invisibility Cloak as an extra precaution. And we left really early, because as Harry says, we’d heard somebody blundering around.” “Well, I stayed on that hill all day,” said Ron. “I kept hoping you’d appear. But when it started to get dark I knew I must have missed you, so I clicked the Deluminator again, the blue light came out and went inside me, and I Disapparated and arrived here in these woods. I still couldn’t see you, so I just had to hope one of you would show yourselves in the end - and Harry did. Well, I saw the doe first, obviously.”
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, J.K.Rowling
Now let's recap:
Very early on Christmas morning, Ron was listening to the radio. At some point, Ron heard Hermione talk about him inside the Deluminator. He activated the device, followed the blue light inside the garden and behind Bill and Fleur's shed before Disapparating and coming out on the side of the hill where there was snow everywhere.
We actually have very little information as to what Ron did that night and the day that followed, because Ron doesn't tell us what happened to him. It's very possible he tried to search for Harry and Hermione, calling out to them, but he might also have hidden himself to observe his surroundings and see where they might be. We also don't know whether he slept, that night - if he did then it was in the snow.
We do know that the second night, he completely disregarded his own safety, moving around what he supposed was Harry and Hermione's tent and calling out to them. At some point he realized that their protective spells were too strong, and that what he was doing was pointless. Probably exhausted, he retrieved a sleeping bag from his rucksack and either slept in the snow, or kept watching the area without sleeping. He had no tent, no survival gear, and was definitely inexperienced. But he disregarded the severe risks to his own health and remained (possibly slept) in the biting cold anyway.
And keep this in mind: if Ron wanted Harry and/or Hermione to notice him the way he did, then it means that he couldn't cast protective spells around him...which means that he couldn't light up a fire or do anything that might attract too much attention.
On December 26th, he remained on the hill for most of the day, and once it started getting dark (so around 4 pm, because sunset time on December 26th, 1997 was at 4.05 pm), Ron used the Deluminator again and appeared in the Forest of Dean, where it was "bitterly cold", windy, and where snow had fallen during the day. He looked for Harry and Hermione for hours again, and once he considered he'd have to wait for morning he decided he might "take a kip under a tree"...in the snow...again.
So Ron spent two entire days and almost three nights without anything to really warm him up, in the snow. He probably slept in the snow without a tent and without anything truly useful - if he didn't then he actually didn't sleep at all for two days. He also disregarded his own safety, calling out Harry and Hermione just to find them, which means, I repeat it, that he didn't cast protective spells around himself.
If you wanted more evidence that Ron downplays his own suffering and experiences, there you go.
I mean, the guy literally slept in the snow two nights on end and was ready to do it a third time, without any complaint, just to find Harry and Hermione again, and you Ron-basher dare tell me he's selfish ??

"Ron was not really worried for his family in the Goblin's revenge" - debunked with one quote...+ small analysis
It's an argument often made, you know. The idea behind that, of course, is that Ron simply used his family as an excuse to lash out at Harry, while his real motive was that he was jealous of Harry and Hermione's closeness.
Yet you see, here is the last line said by Ron before the fight, and just after the Trio spied on Ted Tonks, Dirk Cresswell, Dean and Gornuk and Griphook's conversation - Ron was in general very quiet and subdued after the trio returned to the tent, but he still could not help but react vehemently when Phineas Nigellus spoke ill of his sister :
'Ah', said Phineas Nigellus, now turning his head way and that in an effort to catch sight of Harry, 'yes. That silly girl acted most unwisely there -'
'Shut up about my sister,' said Ron roughly.
And then you don't hear from Ron again before the beginning of the fight, though we know that, unbeknownst to Harry and Hermione, he must have walked away from the discussion to lay on a lower bunk.
Yet unfortunately, in the meantime we had Harry saying :
'And Snape might've thought that was a punishment,' said Harry, 'but Ginny, Neville and Luna probably had a good laugh with Hagrid. The Forbidden Forrest...They've faced plenty worse than the Forbidden Forrest, big deal!'
The "Harry I've-Faced-Worse Potter" doesn't come out of nowhere.
The thing that people fail to grasp when they think about "The Goblin's Revenge", is that they should read the fight in light of what we learn during "The Silver Doe", but that they should not dismiss what happened in "The Goblin's Revenge" either, nor should they say that Ron's concerns are mere "justifications" or "excuses" to lash out at Harry.
You have to instead reread each of Ron's concerns as a mix between genuine worry, and a way to express other underlying, deeper factors - just like Harry's antagonizing and cruel comments are not to be read as face-value either (but you all know the only one I blame here is Voldemort).
Honestly, it was quite clever story-telling.
Here Ron is clearly worried for his family and his sister, and he knows that the Forbidden Forrest is very dangerous - after all, even Hagrid could not lay foot in certain areas of the Forrest, either because of the centaurs or the army of human-eating Acromentulas that became wild once Aragog died.
However, what angered Ron was the apparent lack of concern of Harry, who seemed to think that being punished in the Forbidden Forrest is nothing - "big deal".
And therefore, in light of 'The Silver Doe' chapter, you have to understand that the way Ron interpreted that comment from Harry goes beyond, and deeper, than simply worry for his family and anger at Harry for (apparently) not caring enough for them.
Ron was hurt that Harry didn't seem to care enough about the things that mattered to him. Ron was hurt that Harry didn't seem to care enough about the Weasleys - but Ron is a Weasley too. Ron was hurt that Harry didn't seem to care about things that were beneath him. So, in Ron's mind at that point, according to Harry's logic (which is understandable, don't get me wrong), when Ron saw Aragog and his family - (he mentions the "giant spiders" in the fight), it was "[no] big deal".
Ron was in fact accusing Harry of saying that what he and his family went/is going through was nothing. Ron was accusing Harry of not caring about people "beneath him", of thinking that the suffering of people like him can be forgotten and tossed aside because they're nothing next to him.
Both boys let slip some interesting elements during the fight that reveal part of their true motives. Harry, for example, revealed his trust issues and his desire to push back hard against people to see if they care enough when he refused to let Ron take off the locket and accused the other two of whispering behind his back.
Some of Ron's lines are really worth mentioning too. And one of the most revealing is when he barely took note of Harry's explanation as to why he had said the comment above.
'I was only saying - she was with the others, they were with Hagrid -'
'yeah, I get it, you don't care !'
Ron here did not listen to what Harry was saying. He simply insisted "you don't care" as if it was a fact. It implies that Ron believed that Harry didn't care/love him and the people he cared about because Harry viewed them as insignificant. Above all, it implies that Ron believed Harry thought his concerns were insignificant.
Frankly one day I'll be analyzing this fight in detail, but it can be summed up this way :
Harry : Please tell me you care enough about me to stay no matter what, despite my problems
Ron : Please tell me that you care enough about me to tell me I matter and that my concerns/issues are not insignificant.
The whole fight, somehow, is partly about two boys who love each other to death but are afraid the other doesn't care about them.

That’s Louis Rossman, a repair technician and YouTuber, who went viral recently for railing against Apple. Apple purposely charges a lot for repairs and you either have to pay up or buy a new device. That’s because Apple withholds necessary tools and information from outside repair shops. And to think, we were just so close to change.
