I always ask if a customer would like their things in a bag(unless they have a lot of stuff) because some people don't want bags or have reusable ones. Twice people have questioned me why I am asking them. An associate from another store who I was checking out told me that if I had a bag, I put it in a bag. Always. "Why would you ask a question like that?" "Of course I want a bag." Sorry just trying to reduce my carbon footprint a bit.

Yeah I hate when customers get mad about that. I had a customer buy one thing and I asked her if she needed a bag, and she said, “as opposed to…?”

People suck.

The customer is usually wrong

The only thing worse than shitty customers is when the manager thinks its justified. For the millionth time I had the conversation of... "UM EXCUSE ME, THERE IS A LINE, CAN YOU CALL SOMEONE ELSE"  "Sorry Ma'am, there's no one else here right now"

She proceeded to go to the back and find the general manager who starts ringing up customers, and makes me look like a jerk, even though there is a 50 percent chance when calling for back up a manager will snap at me and tell me there isnt anyone. What a great coin toss!

The customer proceeded to shout that I should be fired, and later the manager said "I would have done the same thing"

Uhm, really? I have never been that rude to anyone in my entire life, and people are that rude to me alllll day. Whats more, my employer is that rude to people, and thinks thats okay? Some people were raised wrong.  A LOT OF PEOPLE. Retail problems.

So I’m certain that I’ve ranted about this in some bygone post but it continues to piss me off and since I’ve clarified that I can’t shut up well when whythefucknot….so.

These are some things about retail that really piss me off. In no particular order, with no particular correlation.

Retail

to the customer who made me cry today: you are not worth the effort required to turn ones head. You wanted a bag for a single item which had a handle. when I gave you one,while smiling, the bag tipped over. You yelled about my attitude, because gravity does not please you. Even your daughter looked appalled at your lack of manners. You were the tipping point of my day, the one last straw I could not manage before crying.

Before you, there was the woman on the phone who seemed to have called because she was lonely, not because she needed everything. Her questions were rapid fire and I had a line. I put her on hold, so she hung up and called right back and said "see? you aren't even busy!"

before that, there was the woman who spent 400 dollars on pricey items, but got upset when two of them didn't ring their sale price. When you realized that I have to figure out the 15 percent off with pen and paper you tried to tell me my math was wrong when it wasn't, we had to get a manager. Then you lied and said you didn't know why I got my manager. My math was perfect, you materialistic miser.

My allergies super sized themselves over night. Stupid American allergies. No one needs that much allergy. In the 50s they only had like a mini muffin’s worth of allergies.
