conception of human perception
Chapter 3
After that night, Stanley remained the same but my thoughts on him had, he was so cold and intimidating when he spoke those words to me the night before I felt almost like he was going to hurt me, but I digress. He told me last night to go get some rest and apologise for snapping at me like that he made sure that i was alright. I still hadn’t seen the damage done by the aviation process the night before but when I woke up the next morning I soon discovered the damage. I stood in front of the mirror the feathers had spread from my back to the front of my chest and parts of my torso but i still saw my stomach, and they were all over my neck and somewhere poking thru my face as if they were like tiny freckles, i swallowed, swallowed down any fear and tears i was holding onto and put my light t shirt back on, it was a painful sore process but i managed and after a while they settled into my back. I went down the stairs to see stanley waiting for me, he seemed completely normal and so i decided to completely ignore and doge any conversation starters about last night, however it wasn’t easy, seeing my transformation from yesterday he began to ask me questions ‘’oh dear jove are you alright wilbur’’? I replied with a light nod, not wanting to be asked about it ‘’i'm so sorry this is happening to you, but i may have found a solution to your problems’’ he said to me hoping to spark some hope. He stepped aside to reveal a strange looking figure, they looked very human, like stanley their body was completely un altered from that of a regular human except one thing they had a cloud for a head, a fluffy weightless white fluff of a head, they wore a tight turquoise turtle neck and some beige pants, they greeted me with much happiness ‘’greetings wilbur my names atlas im so happy to be meeting you’’! They knelt their hand forward for me to shake it and i did so lightly as to not be rude.stanley suddenly butted it ‘’atlas is a biologist here in avalon i thought since they know about the biological happenings in our world that they may be of some assistance’’! He said bubbly. I inspected atlas, they didn't seem to be the sort of monster or dangerous entity that stanley had mentioned the night before and stanley did seem to trust them. ‘’Okay..’’ atlas did a little hop excitedly i had no idea why till they said ‘’im very happy to be working with you this is my first time seeing the aviation process though i have known its been documented’’ my eyes flickered ‘’do you know how to stop it’’ i couldn't help but saying ‘’or to get me home’’! I then realised what i said but i had no choice but to listen to the response
‘’Ahh yes stanley has told me of your situation, follow me’’ they said swiftly turning their cloud head dragging behind them as they walked out the door, i followed.
We began to walk through the pastel neighbourhood, I then realised how many people there were around here. People were outside cutting their definitely not plastic looking grass, going for a run, or simply walking down the streets. They seemed normal till you looked at their heads, some had fish bowls, others had clocks or even umbrellas, they’re range of caps varied to the dozens. I saw one that even had a security camera for a head. They all turned in my direction upon my approach. The neighbourhood stanley was trailing not fair behind me when he picked up speed to whisper to my ear ‘’as i said don't worry they’re just not used to outsiders’’  leaning towards him i replied ‘’em.. Does everyone have an object for a head…’’? He flinched a bit his actions indicating a bit of offence taken ‘’well now that's a bit of an odd way of putting it, but yes everyone does have an as you said ‘object’ for a cranium’’ i felt a bit bad ‘’sorry didn't mean to cause any offence’’ i said ‘’it's quite alright you didn't know’’ he replied then leant back to his normal position.
We soon reached another pastel house ‘’please enter’’ atlas said to us, and i entered through the doorway, i expected more pastel things but when i entered the aesthetic completely shifted, it was a lab many desks were made out of plastic and it was so brightly white that i squinted a bit at first, sinks covered a bit of the sectioned off area of the workspace and empty vials and conical flasks were neatly arranged on some oak shelves ‘’not what you were expecting’’? Said atlas as i wandered around looking dazed ‘’not at all’’ i replied ‘’ah well as you can see each one of these homes in avalon reflects the person's mindset, since i'm a talented biologist, my home is this lab’’ they looked to me as though they were smiling but with no face it was difficult to tell ‘’but why don't i have a house’’? I
couldn't help but ask, atlas looked at me confused ‘’i..i em..’’ pondered for a moment ‘’i'm not sure that's quite bizarre anyone that comes into Avalon usually has a house already I've never really thought of where the homes come from’’? I stood stunned and confused ‘’where is Avalon exactly, is it in a state, or a country’’? I asked not holding back my curiosity, atlas looked at their actions indicated confusion but then they're arm jolted up and then they went to retrieve a file ‘’Avalon is apart of the great deep space.’’ they said showing me the insides of the file ‘’Avalon is one of the many connections to a deep web of other towns and cities all with different environments, but the main four are Avalon, aparion, bretar and gandvik, they were created long ago by what seems to be gods, according to that little file you have there anyways’’ they said it so casually that it took me a moment to process ‘’w..wait so how do i get back home’’! I said anxiously, atlas and Stanley looked at me and said nothing ‘’i… I need to go home, that's where I'm supposed to be not here’’! I said, all i could remember are the blurry visions of my house and earth, green skies huge cities red bricked buildings, other normal people with normal heads walking by, they seemed to become fuzzier and blurrier with each passing day and i didn't know what i was supposed to do, my head was spinning around with all theses thoughts i felt the feathers on my back rise with anxiety, suddenly atlas turned to me ‘’oh i know’’! They wandered off somewhere in the lab and retrieved a rather old looking book ‘’this book says that there's a mystical place where all the main four environments Aline and seep into one another, it calls it the ‘ exonyms’ perhaps this could be your solution friend’’! They said, trying to sound hopeful. I turned to Stanley he nodded then looked down to me ‘’don’t worry Wilbur, ill help you get back to your home i promise’’ he sounded so sincere and generally caring that i didn't think too much of his truthfulness i nodded and swiftly wiped a tear from my eye.

Chapter 2
As we road, i learnt more about my strange new guide and what was happening to me, according to him he said that what was happening to me was a process known as ‘aviation’ and is very rare and very un researched or known about, just known in legends, what takes place in the process or what will happen to me he said he didn’t know but something about his tone made me think otherwise, afterall why would i trust a guy with a tv for a head and sounds likes he’s being constantly broadcasted on a 1950s radio, anyways, the tv man said that his name was stanford or ‘stanly for short’ he said with his usual broadcaster tone to him he actually said that he was the mayor of this strange avalon and that he was having a stroll thru the field and came across me, i can feel those quills poking me in the back and as the car slowly shuttered and chuttered to a halt stanly turned to me ‘’now then dearest friend, i must warn you my neighbours aren't  keen to outsiders as i said before we do not get many visitors never the less one thats at strange looking as you’’, a polite way of saying that these citizens may try to kill me most likley, but after today that was the most unsurprising thing ive been told, i stepped out from my car to be revealed to a  town that was so familiar yet distant to me i almost felt id been there before, the roads were plain no markings like they have usually just blank concrete and the buildings, they were like play ones they were almost all painted a pastel colour usually pink but on the off occasion their would be a blue or yellow one and the only decor to be seen was the light being projected by street lamps, no litter no trash cans just hedges, as though i was in a tv set up. At that moment i wanted someone to tell me that this was all just an elaborate prank but that never happened.
‘’Welcome new neighbour to avalon’’! He announced to me ‘’do follow me good friend its getting late, you don’t want to be out for too long here or else’’ he said to me my brain flashed to those last words ‘or else’ panking i followed him close behind, we passed a few more pastel houses and brightly lit streets and he brought me to a seeming manor house, it was huge i assumed this was stanly’s house after all he was the mayor, must be dragging in quite the paycheck ‘’welcome friend wilbur to my home’’! He announced his speakers letting off a weird clapping effect ‘’come now inside its almost sundown. He was right it was dark out but i could hardly tell due to the amount of light that was being shone from those fluorescent lights, he showed me thru the entrance the house had two spiral staircases leading to more rooms above, the wall paper was hideous a tangent stale yellow colour i didn't say anything though as not to offend him and he lead me to a room ‘’ah you see i wasn't expecting visitors but you can use my spare room for now is that alright’’? Stanley said ‘’yes that's fine thank you’’ he was such a polite guy i still didn't trust him, i hadn’t even seen a single citizen in this town yet for all i know he could be the only one here and he’d tricked me now holding me here prisoner. He seemed to have been looking at me when he said ‘’alright you can stay here for as long as you need, i don't share this huge house with anyone and to be quite honest i'm happy to have you as a guest even though your situation is a curiosity to me as well as a tragedy’’ i looked at the blank screen on his head showing no emotion but his voice displayed a lot of feeling ‘’thank you’’ i finally said, ‘’your welcome’’ he replied ‘’it is late’’ he glanced to his watch ‘’you should get some sleep’’ he said in a calm tone ‘’okay..’’stanley slowly shut the door and i turned the light on, the room was very empty, much like the rest of this place to be honest, the only objects that were filling it were a small single bed with a rose embroidered cover on it and a mirror, i walked up to the mirror to look at myself, i then realised what i looked like, my hair was the same scruffy brown it always was but my eye, one of my eyes were completely blank, no pupil nothing, but my other was fine, i had the same outfit on i can remember vividly, a baggy white tank top with some green shorts, i felt a twinge in my back so i removed my t-shirt then felt a rush of relief, ‘finally ah that's so much better’ i felt my feathers stretch and spread, and it was a glorious feeling i had been hiding it but with them compressed on my back it was so painful like an ache you cant get rid off. I turned my head around to look at them, they were jet black and spiked the centre of my torso is where it was the worst, like a pile of coal the quills all squashed together in the centre and now without my shirt they were pointed and brisley, but as they got to the bottom of my hip and the top of my neck the feathers seemed to get smaller and thinner, i turned back to look at the mirror ‘what is happening to me’.
I decided to keep the t shirt off as i slept it was just too uncomfortable to keep it on and i flipped back the covers to the mattress, and layed down, on my stomach the feeling of the blanket on my back unsettled me so i turned it into a tight roll to my side and closed my eyes.
Midnight, i woke up gasping and sweating like crazy i rushed over frantically to switch the light on knocking the mirror a bit as i did so, pain filled my body and anxiety as i stumbled to the mirror to look at myself, they were growing, plumes of mass erupting from my skin. I collapsed to the floor in a huge heap, wanting to give up, it was like I'd just been injected with some sort of poison. Its effects had just started. I clutched my head as I constantly flinched and shuttered from soreness and discomfort as the plumage kept coming. Finally after what seemed hours i felt a rush of relief i unclenched my fists from my head, and i looked up to see stanley in the doorway ‘’by jove wilbur are you alright’’! He rushed to me and knelt to my side i was huddled at the foot of the bed ‘’great scott y..your’’ my heartbeat was rapid and so was my breathing, stanley noticed he didn't say anything just continued to sit besides me at the foot of the bed we didn't say anything for a while before he said finally ‘’its, 1:00’’ he was staring at his watch, ‘’w..what's happening to me’’ i finally said ‘’y..y..you said it was something called aviation w..what even is that i..’’ i stumbled on my words and my eyes began to drip ‘’i..i want to go home’’! I yelled that Stanley's mood changed to caring too frightened and he hastily covered my mouth ‘’I'm sorry but could you please keep your voice down’’! He said, whispering yet loudly. I felt a rush of fear, fear i had not received from stanley since i met him, his hand was tightly around my mouth as though he was desperately hoping i hadn't woken something or someone, after a while he finally let go ‘’apologies, but it is late’ he said his tone almost cracking ‘’you must keep your voice down you understand, it’ll find you’’ he said at normal volume.
‘’What will’’? I inquired
‘’The entity’’ he responded ‘’is it looking for me’’? I almost yelled again ‘’yes..’’ he replied coldly. ‘’Why, I mean , is it hunting me or something’’? I asked ‘’no just searching and we cannot let it find you, you understand’’? Stanley's voice had changed when i met him his tone was always cheerful and bubbly but now it was stale and cold i still didn't trust him but this entity sounded dangerous and the way stanley was behaving lead me to believe that i should go with him for now till i discover a way out of this place for myself, so i nodded
‘’Okay..’’

conception of human perception (chapter 1)
Chapter 1
A splitting pain
Ears bleeding, skull ripping pain in my head as i slowly become aware of my body, my neck my shoulders my torso my back, all normal but there was something that felt off but that wasn't my main problem, i could hear my friends screaming in my mind, about something i can't remember, the blurred image of a car's headlights hitting my eyes slicing them into thins strips as my nature tried to allow me to take in the amount of light being stuck with me and then a sudden jolt of darkness.
My eyes slowly adjusted to where I was and my mind jolted back to reality, expecting the familiar surroundings of a bedroom or maybe even a hospital bed, since i was going off of my remaining memories but what i saw was nothing like that whatsoever, grass, an open field, no building in site just grass. My mind was spinning literally and figuratively it was like i'd be transported into an opticians eye test, when you look into the eye piece so that they can take photos of your eye socket and they make you stare into an empty void of grass and blue skies, that was where i was the eye space i slowly gained feeling back in my arms and legs and gathered what was left of my consciousness and stood up, but then dropped back soon after a ripping pain flooded all threw my spine and back and i jolted from the agony i was experiencing i wanted to scream i wanted to shout, shout for someone to help me i held my tongue, mostly because i had no idea where i was and by the looks of it there was definitely no people around, then slowly i experienced a blissful release, and relaxed ‘what just happened’ i thought, ‘why did that..’ i slowly turned my head around to look to the back of my shoulder, to be greeted with a swarm of…feathers.
‘’Feathers’’ i repeated, this time aloud instead of in my mind ‘w..why what’’! I regained a sense of alert and began backing up from myself at this revelation feathers they filled my back and pierced out of my skin like a bullet long thick black feathers like a corvick animal or a foul beast they formed a curve to my back they felt incomplete like they had yet to confirm that they were the thing they were, or an uncompleted mission that they had yet to move forward with.’ What in the world was happening’ i found myself saying aloud as i stood up fully this time feeling the bristly sensation of the large masses of quills on my remaining skin, i reached my hand slowly around my side and up my shirt to feel the sensation of all the plumes that had sprouted threw my back just a moment ago, flinching i snatched it back, my palm covered in the almost dried scarlet of the previous agony i was in then it really hit me of what was happening that this wasn't a dream and i was completely conscious.
About an hour went by, id begun to walk this time still feeling rather shook but mindful that i couldn't stay in my spawning place. The repeated thud and trot of my feet kept me calm and so far everything continued to be the dull empty repeatedness grassy plain before i encountered a strage looking entity. It was a human like figure they wore a strapping black suit that seemed to glide over his think body i began to run toward them as i thought that rescue or answers would be in my grasp but as i got closer my eyes adjusted and i saw that the man had no head, well he did but where a normal human anatomy should have completed there was a tv, they turned to look at me i was almost a couple feet away from them and he turned his strange cap to my direction
‘’Well a fine greetings to you neighbour’’ He said with a static texture to his vocals ‘’and what does you wondering threw a meadow at this hour.’’ he glanced to his strangely normal watch ‘’why its almost sunset’’! He looked at me, his voice indicated shock but his television displayed no such emotion
‘’W..where am i’’ i stuttered as i just had the realisation i was talking to a practically living tv.
He paused, for a long time before answering
‘’Why your in avalon my good fine fello’’! He finally replied
‘’Avalon’’? I said hesitantly
‘’Yes my good friend avalon, where everything is nothing and everyone is…’’ he suddenly trailed off ‘’anyways sorry my good neighbour but are you alright’’? His tone suddenly changed to concern.
‘’Wheres the way back to connecticut’’? I said expecting him to give me directions to a train station and was just hoping i might have been hallucinating the tv on his head
‘’I must apologise my friend ‘connecticut’’? He sounded confused
‘’Yes connecticut..’’ he still remained silent ‘’one of the states in the US’’? Still no response, he then jolted ‘’Ah yes.. Em.. i don't know what that is’’ his voice expressed a continuous tone that indicated in confusion, he really didn't know what i was talking about it then hit me, this place felt disconnected from everything i've known from earth, or even just a planet in general the fields seemed to roll forever but there was a sun here so.
‘’Wait, you mentioned sunset’’ i began ‘’what happens at sunset’’?
The tv man made a flinching like movement and then knelt forward almost bowing to me ‘’you aren't from here are you friend’’?  I shook my head ‘’well now this is a pickle you are in,’’ he paused as though thinking but since his head didn't happen to show expressions he looked to be in a paused state before he jolted back a second later ‘’do not fret my neighbour i shall assist you’’! He shouted ‘’it is not the everyday that i meet a new citizen of avalon no no no’’ he then turned to my back and placed his hand on it as though to push me forward before his hand flinched ‘’a..aha well.. You em.’’ he stuttered on his words ‘’you’re quite a feathery fellow aren't you’’ he seemed taken a back and i replied ‘’well your a person with a tv for a head’’ he seemed offended.
‘’Well now that i may be but ive not seen one of your kind in a.. Long time’’ his tone became distant and sad before jumping back ‘’never the less’’! He returned his hand on my back ‘’come now to avalon we go’’! He then turned to his blazer he had on and shifted it to the inside to reveal a pocket watch, with a long metal chain attached to it, something  like a man from the 1950s would carry. He then looped his figure around the chain and let it swing, it looped his finger three times before there was a distant chime, the ground shook and and all of a sudden a 1957 ford thumberd appeared over the horizon and quick as a flash it curved to stop right in front of us, with no road i was surprised on how it had glided with such efficiency over the bumps and curves of the field, it was a marvellous thing the headlights resembled a bug and had the colour of an oak, brown and rustic it was.
‘’Ah now my friend pop in’’ he then proceeded to fling the back car door open, i hesitated ‘’come now don't be afraid of ol betsy’’! The second back car door flung open without someone opening it as though betsy gestured for me to hop in, i had no choice there didn't seem to be a house in sight so i entered the opened car door, it tightly shut after i was comfortable then hastily skidded and curved before heading in a one way direction.
‘’Come now friend i still haven't yet to know your name’’! He said his voice booming with the static of an old radio.
‘’ wilbur..’’ i replied
