A month ago after many tests, CT scans and blood work the doctor confirmed and diagnosed my sister with stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Hearing the news was hard but what was harder was seeing my sister break down when they told her due to chemo there is a chance she may infertile. Growing up although she was my little sister she has always been more like my twin and sometimes even like my big sister. Through thick and thin, fights, silent treatments she always had my back, taken care of me, picked me up when I was down, encouraged me and has always been my number 1 fan and made sure to boost my confidence when I had none, my emotional support. With these character traits it is only natural that she always wanted to be a mom, unfortunately due to the aggressive nature of stage 4 lymphoma and the chemo she would have to undergo it could result in her being infertile. Not wanting to give up her dream of being a mother my sister made the decision to undergo various hormone injections and have her eggs frozen. On Mother's day they were able to freeze 19 eggs! The treatment went well and like the strong person she is was able to go get breakfast after and paint with me at Colour Me Mine. I am so thankful that her work has created a Go Fund me account to help cover the cost of freezing her eggs. I don't often post about her cause we are not emotional like that, but she really is someone I admire and look up to. She has not let this diagnosis slow her down from doing daily activities, continuing to live her life, and applying for articling positions. I am so proud of her for her accomplishments from completing law school to now fighting lymphoma. I have no doubt in my mind that she will beat it. Isolation is 🔑 Keep reading below to find out why isolation is so important. • Why is isolation so important? Each lash has its own growth cycle and will shed at different times. Lashes that are not properly isolates or are stuck together may lead to premature shedding or being pulled out ahead of time, causing damage to the hair follice and can take months to recover, if at all. • What does proper isolation ensure? It ensures comfort while you have eyelash extensions. When they are isolated properly you will not feel them. Lashes that are stuck together will feel uncomfortable (tightness or tugging on the lid) because the lashes that are stuck together may be at different cycles and the one that is growing out or is ready to shed is pulling at the lash next to it that is not ready to. This leads to premature shedding and damage to the hair follice. • What does isolation allow? Not all lashes are uniform, meaning not all of them grow in the same direction or are all straight. By isolsting properly it allows a lash artist/tech to control the direction of the lash and create the desired lash map you have requested. • How do I isolate? I was taught to use both my tweezers to isolate. I have my isolation tweezer in my left hand and the tweezer I am going to place the eyelash extension on to your natural lash in my right hand. I use both tweezers to find a lash to isolate.
