Orc booze can be made of anything, in anything, but especially things they don't have to grow, and runs the gamut from fermented milk and mead to bizarre grass-and-weeds moonshine that'll blind the unwary.
Halfling booze is wines and beers and ales, a thousand home-breweries with secret home recipes passed down to only the favorite grandchildren - a massive variety of grains, hops, berries, fruit, herbs, spices, and anything else you can grow. More variety in the undistilled products than most other races.
Dwarf booze can be used as metal cleaner or fuel, and often is, on industrial scales. Big on the tuber potchin or vodka and beetsugar rum, grain's harder to farm en masse on a mountain. Maybe some berry brandies or strange mushroom beers.
Gnomes blend alchemy and potioncrafting into their booze to an uncomfortable degree. Expect glowing everclear, or herbal liquers with medicinal effects. They *definitely* know how to drink a mushroom, but it's questionable if anyone else will care for it.
Humans aren't as prone to family recipes or industrial production as longer lived races, but are a lot more prone to relying on agriculture than orcs are. Plenty of grain-based beers and fruit-based wines, with recipes passing from master brewer to apprentice, and a smattering of distilled spirits depending on what grows locally.
Elves, though, are practically immortal, immune to sleep (and probably don't get hangovers if they remember to stay hydrated while meditating), and pretty intense about anything you could call an artform. They also happen to be tied closely to the fae, and tend to lean more on foraging than monocrop agriculture. Expect a complex world of magical absinthe varieties and herbal wines, with active ingredients that open your mind, body, or soul to who even knows what, and might bring you in touch with somewhere planar. Production runs are rarely more than a dozen bottles at a time though, and often less than half that. Don't expect to get the same thing twice unless you track down the brewer personally and either commission them or somehow convince them to teach you the recipe **and** introduce you to their ingredient sources.
Warforged probably use dwarven booze, as cleaning agents, as intended.
Any setting where the elves have weaker booze than the dwarves isn't committing to the bit

vision crunching 3, results
Alright, I think I've got it fairly reasonable now.  It hasn't quite reached my 40% goalpost, but it's close enough. Again, I'm using D/d as a substitute for all the genes that distort vision.  The current mix is --
Xx: 14,524   29% perfect vision, nothing to hide Xd:  5,430   11% perfect vision, with recessive genes XD:  1,473    3% reading glasses or less
xd: 16,958   34% weak glasses Dx: 6864     14% normal glasses dd: 1880      4% Strong glasses Dd: 1748      3% Very Strong glasses DD: 2221      4% Cokebottle Lenses

vision crunching 2
This time, I did around 50,000 (+/- 4 which appear to have gotten lost at some point during the math).  Let's see what we've cooked up.
There are 19713 (39%) with no distortion genes at all, which again sounds alright.  There are 2975 (6%) that have only distortion genes.  That leaves 27288 (55%) in the mixed group that has a mixture of both. Let's divide those up further.  For the sake of convenience, I'm going to refer to all distorted-vision genes as 'D'/'d' in shorthand.
XD/Xd: 22713, or 45% -- still too many. xD/xd: 1582 or 3%
DX/dX: 2948 or 6% Dx/dx: 45
My changes weren't severe enough.  I'm going to have to heavily seed the results with lowercase x, and sprinkle a few more distortion genes around.  I'm not there yet, but I think I'm on the right track.  Another batch will help.
Of the 729 mutants with extra eyes, 625 have either only one stray eye, or reasonable symmetry (one on each hand, etc).  The remaining 104 have "several", of potentially varying size with no guarantee of symmetry.  As far as numbers go, our top two are pretty familiar.

Vision datacrunching 1
So, I'm working on how much of the slurry default should be biased towards having vision problems.  The relevant gene is 2 letters long, and is any combination of the following: {XxAaFfNn}.  X for normal, A for astigmatism, F for farsighted, N for nearsighted.
According to google, about 75% of adult humans use some kind of vision correction.  I'm going to guess it's slightly less common in trolls, due to what I will broadly refer to as selection pressure, so I'll aim for 40%.  I made 10,000 sets of peepers, and narrowed it down to look only at this gene, and here's what my first try produced.
First, the very clearcut cases.  3930 or 39% had the XX gene, meaning perfect vision with no defects.  Next, there were 119 NN, 2 Nn, 127 AA, and 51 FF -- or around 30% having a strong and definitive type of vision impairment.  Now, I either need to find ways to interpret the remaining data in the way I want, or I need to change what data gets produced.
There were only 2 cases that contained a capital X and a capital vision-impairment, so I'll ignore those for now.  The next biggest category is capital X followed by a different lowercase letter (Xa, Xf, Xn) -- there are 4864 of these, or 49%.  Next, a lowercase letter followed by capital X -- there are only 589 of those, or 6%.  Next, the mixed group -- with two vision impairment genes, where at leastone is lowercase.  There's only 313 / 3% of those.
If X+lowercase produces perfect or near-perfect vision, that gives us 88% of the population having perfect vision.  If we go lowercase+X doing that, we'll have 45% perfect vision.  I want to keep the mixed cases as examples of bad eyesight, so I'm going to take that first option, and tweak the incidence of lowercase first letters up a bit. I'm also going to scatter lowercase X around, and see if that helps.  Ready for second test.
As long as I'm here, I'll also check out how the mutant eye placement is going.
Looks like there's 54 or 5% of the group that have one or more spare eyes during grubhood, that they grow out of with their first pupation.  Mostly on the back, a few on the front or tail, one on the head.  I think around 50 of them will pass the cut, which seems fair for Alternia.
Of those with permanent extra eyes, I see 33 with one or more stray eyes on the face, three with specifically a forehead eye, and 8 with eyes on the back of the head.  Those will probably make it just fine, as long as they can find partners during the season -- and as long as their hair doesn't bother their eyes too much.  There's another 14 with stray eyes along their back or spine, which is more inconvenient, less immediately obvious, and potentially more useful. Being able to see behind you has advantages, and at least some of them will be able to find shirts that accentuate the eye in a good way.  On a similar note, there's 4 with eyes on the chest / front of torso, which is less useful and slightly more offputting I think.  Still, only a little awkward.
Slightly more awkward are the ones that have eyes on hands or other extremities.  There's 4 "extremity" trolls, which could have them on tails or wings if they have any, or possibly on hands or feet.  There's three with eyes on the back of the hands, which is probably passable and fine.
..but... now we're getting to the less viable zone.  There's one with an eye on the palms, who will probably have a hard time holding weapons or other tools firmly.  There's one with eyes on their fingertips, who will have a hard time using their hands for much of anything -- I think that one Could make it on some Beforuses, but definitely not Alternia.  There's another four who have eyes at the tips of their grublegs, which will go away after first pupation -- if they make it that long.  There's also six individuals that will have a malformation or loss of their primary two eyes during a pupation, so they'll have to deal with blindness either as a wriggler or an adult.
So... for stray eyes like this, out of a random sample of 10,000 trolls, we have 65 passable extra-eye mutations (0.65%), and 12 (0.12%) who will have significant problems.  That seems pretty good.  I'll compare which mutations came up how often in the next batch, as well.

New Mutant Types
So, most of how the troll generator is based around a slurry of demographic data.  IE, for every gene, I have a list that says "here's what this gene defaults to for This caste, here's the default for This caste, and here's a handful of special mutant archetypes that also show up!", and the trolls made thusfar are created by blending together their caste default, a random nearby caste default, and a mutant archetype.
IE, all of the randomly generated trolls are somewhat confined to the combinations that exist in the slurry population.  IE, just because a combination CAN happen, doesn't mean it's equally likely to occur as every other combination.
However!  That is not the only way to generate trolls!  So I've added a method that *does* randomly staple letters together to create bizarre mutant combinations.  Here's the first to come out of that mess.
We have Hkaohi Gyinae, or imaginaryHellion.  Good start.  They like geology, knickknacks, and conspiracies, wield chainKind, and their element is Dravite -- a kind of tourmaline gemstone. IH is cerulean (0, 70, 140), and googling "blue dravite" reveals some pretty stones.  He is 7'2", and his build is...  Please imagine Dr. Eggman with hips, and butt for days.  Let's see how screwed up his pupations are.
Looks like he's due to have 7 pupations in his life.  Two as a pure 6-limbed grub, one as a 4-limbed grub, and then pupation 4 is where wrigglerhood starts.  He gets largish digitigrade paws, a stunted tail 3 inches long and 7 fingerwidths wide (imagine a fat little deer tail made of flesh with carapace and lizard-belly covering it, on Eggman), and normal claws.  Over the remaining pupations, his skin / carapace toughens up noticeably.
He'll also develop webbed fingers and toes, fins on his arms, legs, and spine, spare eyelids (nictating membranes), no ears, and 4-tined cheek/earfins so small they're hard to see.  He has full voluntary control over bioluminescent areas on his skin -- spots and freckles of cerulean glow, and a few solid patches that glow whiter.  The patterning might be slightly visible even when not glowing.  As far as organ systems go, there's a swim bladder, some small eye gills, partial neck gills, and fully-formed rib gills that are partially external / axolotl-like.  He can breath salt and fresh water, but nothing in between, and has no problems breathing air.
This feral cerulean seadweller has horns with weak electrosensory abilities, that regulate his powers and body temperature.  They are short ramlike horns, that curve backward, downward, and wiggle around some.  His eyes are slightly hooded, the one on the right is a little too teal and has one round pupil, and the left one is slightly too blue and has two goat pupils.  He has excellent darkvision, and can see the polarization of light, but is a little farsighted with some astigmatism.
{"clout":6,"grit":4,"alacrity":5,"hunch":2,"acumen":4,"resolve":4,"moxie":2,"psyche":-4}
He's as strong as an indigo and fast as an olive, and about as smart, charming, and psych-resistant as some of the more boorish annoying indigos too.  He's also an incredibly passive player, and has ended up a Seer of Void.
He's a tough customer, but man mutations get wild.

Inbreeding to make sure trolls aren’t negative seventy feet tall anymore
Started with Nokuyi Gareca, killerLight, a 7'11" bronze/gold troll with short curved horns that point forward and up.  Rogue of Heart, interested in sports, paleontology, crafting.  Element 'fire', specibus clubKind.
{"clout":2,"grit":4,"alacrity":4,"hunch":4,"acumen":3,"resolve":3,"moxie":4,"psyche":5} {"faith":-1,"order":1,"entropy":-3,"connection":-2,"self":-6,"opportunity":3} {"activity":-5,"exploit":9,"move":11,"know":5,"manip":6,"create":7,"destroy":10}
Six generations of inbreeding later, ...
We have Wonhsa Mugaro, rabbitFangs, a 6'10" true bronze blood.  His short straight horns point forward, up, and in, the left one ending in bumps and the right ending in a point. Thief of Space, likes history, grimdark arts, and war, wields explosivesKind, and his element is sal ammoniac.
{"clout":2,"grit":4,"alacrity":3,"hunch":4,"acumen":5,"resolve":3,"moxie":5,"psyche":2} {"faith":-3,"order":-4,"entropy":-7,"connection":7,"self":7,"opportunity":7} {"activity":3,"exploit":17,"move":21,"know":14,"manip":17,"create":18,"destroy":18}
The stats are real close. Alacrity and psyche are a little lower, Acumen and moxie are a little higher. 3/6 aspect allegiances are pointing the same way, but that's much more random seeming.  As far as the calculated values, one is activeand one is passivebut the distance isn't far.  The rest of the calculated values seem suspiciously high, but he DOES have much more extreme aspect affinity than his forebear.  Let's check in in another few generations.
...rogue of heart... ...bard of heart... ...sylph of Space -- that's a bit of a departure.  Let's check in.
Pintok Kinoiu, yarnMischief, is a 7'2" jade/teal sylph of space.  Her skin gene's a little odd/mangled, and it's definitely got some recessive psychic traits from her ancestry, but it won't darken as she ages.  Pure land dweller, no mutations. Her horns point backwards and down, and wiggle a bit, but are otherwise straight.  They end with split tips.  She can move both of her eyes independently like a gecko if she wants, which I guess is cool. She likes meta, exercise, and writing, wields umbrellaKind, and her element is Jupiter.
{"clout":3,"grit":4,"alacrity":3,"hunch":4,"acumen":4,"resolve":4,"moxie":4,"psyche":-5} {"faith":-7,"order":1,"entropy":-8,"connection":-1,"self":6,"opportunity":-8} {"activity":-15,"exploit":14,"move":15,"know":16,"manip":16,"create":17,"destroy":15}
She's a little stronger, but that's probably her caste's influence.  Less charming, Far less psychic.  Two of the secret classpectstats are very similar to her most immediate answer, but the rest are all over the place.  I think I like her.
..sylph of space, maid of space, --muse of Void?  Alright, one last checkin.
Teppur Nugegu, jubilantPentagram, 7'2" olive Muse of Void.  I'm not seeing any mutations.  His horns point back and upwards, and wiggle some;straight with split tips. He has the independant eye party trick, likes machines, collectibles, and exercise, wields a spear, and his element is chrome.
{"clout":3,"grit":4,"alacrity":4,"hunch":4,"acumen":3,"resolve":3,"moxie":4,"psyche":-2} {"faith":-6,"order":-6,"entropy":-5,"connection":3,"self":-5,"opportunity":-6} {"activity":-33,"exploit":14,"move":13,"know":18,"manip":15,"create":17,"destroy":16}
A little faster and smarter, but less stuborn.  Less psychic resistance than the jade, but he's also a few castes warmer.  Four of the six secret stats are vaguely similar, but only vaguely.  He's incredibly passive and probaby would've ended up a seer otherwise.None of the stats are going into crazy numbers though.  I think we can call the super-powered negative-height trolls bug fixed.

ancestry?
Last post, I generated a troll from the Jepdal bloodline.  Time to see if I can make another.  I've generated 61 trolls from that source material, and of them, 18 are the right color.  Let's look closer.
obliviousHeartwood is our first candidate, matching most of the physical requirements, but unfortnately the horns are curved, waggle like an Ampora, and end in pinchers.  She also is missing the grubhood eye mutation, which is probably for the best.  This bard of time has a hunch of 53, likes botany, plants, and chaos, wields rakeKind, and her element is Venus.  Let's name her Noawho Puohun and move on.
The next one's horns are also curved, but end in pointed tips.  Same location, same direction and length, just a little off.  Foncif Nocana grows up to call herself zombieQueen, has a grit of 62, and her element is mithril.  This bard of time enjoys animals, paleontology, and programming.
Our next one has the closest match yet -- the horns are curved, but there's a bolt tip on the left and a pointed tip on the right.  They have a wedge-shaped cross section instead of a round one, though.  No dice.  Even though they do have the grubtail mutation.  They go by aggroQuantification, are a heir of rage, like archaeology, photography, and cooking, wield offcespplyKind, and are associated with the water element.
The next is also close.  The horns are straight and end in point tips, and have the round cross section, but they're short and a little squiggly.  They have the grubtail mutation, are a knight of rage, and like computers, archaeology, and geology.  They wield chainKind and their element is "hot" (as in archimedes' hot/wet/dry/cold system).
The next one has the straight horns, in the right length, and not wiggly, and the left horn is an exact match -- the right horn ends in a pincher, though.  They do have the grubtail mutation, and they are a Knight of Rage, interested in literature, physicality, and archaeology.  They wield pipeKind and are associated with Iron.  I'm going to put this as an "almost". NightmareRedemption, I'm going to say your sign name should be Jundal. Very very close.
Good horn match, except the one that should be pointed has a lightning bolt. This young lady is also a Knight of Rage, who enjoys botany, the esoteric, and finds psychic powers interesting.   She wields sawKind, and her element is green vitriol(cupric sulfate, a brilliant cyan crystal).   Very close.
--finally an exact horn match.  Another knight of rage, Elpuki Jepdal is psychic-type (despite being 7x as resistant as a seadweller), wields a spoon, and likes chemistry, programming, and geology.  tacticWaffle, welcome to the bloodline.  A good match!
I'm getting a good feel for which things should match to make sure someone is an ancestor/descendant. Time to fix the negative 50+ foot tall thing.

Case Study: karateBees
Today's experiment starts with a fine young troll known as Celepf Jepdal, or karateBees.  Yesterday, I ran a number of experiments to stress test the eye mutation genes, and she has the best trolltag from generation four or five of that.  Warning that she does have a mild case of weird eye and it probably won’t get better next post.
Cel starts life as a cerulean grub, blood (0, 70, 140).  Almost perfectly well formed, a few facial freckles, normal-length horns, pointing up, back, and inward from the temples, with a lightning bolt tip on the left and a normal plain point on the right.  ...however, they also have "several stray eyes" scattered across the grubtail.  The main and stray eyes are all functional and healthy, slightly bulging, iris a perfect even grey, one round pupil per eye.  They might grow out of it, so out from the caverns they go.
After first pupation, all the spare eyes are gone, grub legs have gone away like they're supposed to, and there's no feral or sea traits in evidence. She keeps the freckles, and probably has a pretty normal wrigglerhood, and never knows about the grub eye thing.  She's pretty easily blinded by lights, but has completely normal vision othewise.
As she grows up, it quickly becomes apparent she's on the short side (negative 73 feet), and has a build somewhere between an hourglass and a flat board.  She's basically a super-troll though -- all of her peers have stats between 2 and 5, and her lowest is a clout of 9, with her acumen and resolve more than twice that, and the rest of her stats in between.  Except for psyche, which is more than 3 times more resistant to psychic blasts than a tyrian.  It appears I need to do some slight edits to how stats and height get inherited from one generation to the next.  For similar reasons, her aspect affiliation to Rage, Time, and Doom are literally off the charts.
Young karateBees is a Seer of Rage, associated with the element of air, who weilds vacuumKind and enjoys computers, science, and gambling.
Now that she's grown up, I can use her genetic material (alone, with nothing else) to generate 50+ other trolls.  I want to see if I can produce her descendant this way.

generated a tyrian
Arlawc Naurev, ungendered 6'2" tyrian (128,0,64) with an hourglass figure, the stripedOperator.  Their hunches and instincts don't serve them very well, but otherwise solid all around stats.  They like botany, the esoteric, and appreciate terrain and exploring.  They wield ladleKind, are a Witch of Void, and their elemental affiliation is paper.
A pure seadweller, who can't handle fresh or brack water, and gets winded on land occasionally.  In addition to the rib and neck gills, they have small partially-formed eye gills, and large fins with 3 tines and bioluminescence that is controlled by bloodflow.  Their natural bioluminescence is mostly freckles, with some striping, and they have a pretty tough hide.  They have narrow eyes with fairly normal vision, although it's bad at motion tracking, and good at distinguishing exact colors (tetrachromat).
Their horns are ampora-wiggly, point back, up, and outward, and have a decent amount of curve to them.  The horns are electrosensory keratin, and help regulate balance but not powers.

generated a jade
Ronzxo Wegawi, ungendered Jade (0, 128, 64), kinda twiggy. They go by eclecticKerfuffle, and enjoy collectibles, photography, and apocalypses.  They wield clubKind, and are a grass type Witch of Hope with impressive strength, toughness, resolve, and moxie, and precious little else.
As an adult, they'll look pretty normal and stand about 7'9", and have horns that start on their forehead and point straight back over their head, ending in pinchers.  They will also have full daylight vision, along with vision 7fold, whatever that is.  I might need to weak down the incidence of eye weirdness a bit further.
Poor Wegawi's insides are land-dweller standard, but their middle 2 grub legs will be sticking around through wrigglerhood and don't disappear until the adult molt.  They also have small always-on bioluminescent freckles, which will burn out like dead pixels if they ever go rainbowdrinker, and their hooded eyes are slightly blue-shifted off of the caste hue they should be.  They probably only escaped unculled due to jade favoritism -- but hey, they have the moxie to pull that off.  Good luck little dude.
