at no point in the show does dean ever deny having romantic feelings for cas. every time hes teased, mocked, or its even brought up he just dodges the question (shut ur face get in the car (cassie parallel who he was in love with), he was ur boyfriend first, etc) and despite the numerous opportunities to deny their attraction towards each other, never does dean go “no gross”, or “no i dont like cas like that”, or literally any form of denial, dean just kinda takes it and swallows full innuendo intended and then changes the subject as fast as possible. cas was the same, every time people point out their relationship (all to save one man, he likes you, whos in love with you, thought you two were joined at the everything, etc) he never says “no its not like that” or anything to deny it. what im saying is that they 1) both were in love with each other, 2) both could not verbally bring themselves to deny it, and 3) only difference is that cas got to speak his truth and confess and dean never even got the chance.

I just think it's important to remember that Dean and Cas are alive, they're married, and they are literally making out on their living room couch while Dirty Dancing plays on the tv in the background, as we speak

basically there’s two types of Wife on supernatural: the lisa braeden and the oc wife colette. 

the lisa braeden is an object to be protected. she’s a natural resource. she is synecdoche for a home. she is a passive worship object, beloved and pampered but entirely denied agency, living in a gilded cage and having no personhood to speak of. her husband goes off to war to protect her, leaving her behind. if she dies, she must be avenged.

the oc wife colette is a gaze to perform for. her purpose is to love her husband, unconditionally, to look at him with loving eyes, witness his violent tendencies and pull him back with her selfless love from his worst excesses of Evil Manness, as well as absorbing huge amounts of violence from him. her husband becomes a better man for her. if she dies, her husband must live on in her memory, internalizing her gaze.

what i am saying here is that dean and cas are both so very wife. but dean is the lisa braeden and cas is the oc wife colette.

idk why people hate lisa braeden (besides the misogyny) she is one of the funniest characters ever written and im obsessed with their lavender marriage. she literally said to dean "I love you but this relationship works better when you are nowhere near me or my house" how is that not iconic?

i think when creating dean winchester the writers just like googled the american male archetypes but rather than choosing one they just shoved them all together. like okay he’s a (checks notes) rebel outlaw cowboy explorer family man. he’s a patriarch he’s a permanent bachelor he’s a self-made man he’s his father’s son. and by god he drinks beer.
