New PR: my first completed @spartanrace sprint I admit, I took this for granted...as I have taken my fitness for granted the past few months. I tried to monster it, and it, in turn, monstered me. I knew I had the drive and mental fortitude to finish, but I found myself in deep water (literally and figuratively) multiple times during the race. I was reminded you are never as fit as you can be; fitness knows many shapes, colors, and creeds...one size does not fit all; we are all in this together; friends are not easily made (for me, anyway) so cherish the ones you have; sometimes distance can put life's events in perspective: things that should be small become small...and things that should be big become big. I plan on competing in another race soon. Today's training: FOR TIME This is my 5th training session in a week. That's a PR for me as of late. ...and I'm pretty sure I hate them too. I used to love them, back when I could pump out 120 in 7 minutes. Today's training: 12 minutes to complete as many reps as possible of: 800 meter run (done once) 35 burpees 35 sit-ups 35 squats 35 push-ups 25 burpees 25 sit-ups 25 squats 25 push-ups 15 burpees 15 sit-ups 15 squats 15 push-ups This is the initial/benchmark workout for my group's @spartanrace / @spartanendure challenge. Caffeine and Kilos shirt, Hylete shorts, Nike Romaleos. You see the concerned looks on the faces of the folks in the background? I had a great WOD; payback for a Garage Games WOD involving deadlifts and burpees. I was riding high from PR-ing that bitch...but right here I was thigh bumping...not pulling to my hips. Crossfit Hyperformance cultivates a superb environment. It attracts the best people. They don't give two fast Fucks about who I am or what I wear, or any perceived status: you may be a quote-unquote veteran, but you are not above correction. I will always value and Love this box. So I did "The Vortex", the creation of Armen @heynaked and Eddie @eddieifft of @wodcastpodcast. I would say " thank you" but I wouldn't really mean it. For those who don't know: "The Vortex" Run 1 mile EMOTM alternating 20 push-ups and 20 squats. Go until you finish the mile or you get caught in the vortex. After sulking back to my start point after failing to complete my push-ups 10 minutes in, I did: 21-18-15-12-9-6-3 95lb power cleans Sit-ups Back extensions I had to sub KB cleans @ 55lbs.
