Cattails are another edible plant. You can cook and eat almost all the plant. At camp, after soaking over night in kerosene, tied to a thick long stick, they make excellent torches.

This plant is common around camp. They say that this Queen Anne Lace is also a wild carrot. Dig up the plant, root included, and the bottom of the root is a white carrot.

A common found plant found at Camp Hickory Hill is the Red Clover. The Red Clover makes a nice snack. Pull the petals from the flower and stick the white tips on top of your tongue. The sweet taste of honey fills your taste buds. Then swallow the petals. A nice snack.

The jewelweed grows around camp mostly near the dried up creek. If you take the sap from the stem, it can be used to help cure the rash from poison ivy. Jewelweed has small pods with seeds in them. You touch the pod and a seed pops out. Hance the name Touch-Me-Not.

Next to the entrance of the archery range are sumac trees. The sumac can be harvest to make sumac tea and sumac-aid (similar to kool-aid) . After soaking the sumac berries over night in water, while still in the water, take a potato masher to squeeze the juices out of the berries. After the water turns the right color, use a strainer and pour the juice into a nother pot or pitcher. Sumac is very sour. Add sugar until the sumac-aid tastes the way you want it.

An Entrance - The name creates imagery of the days of Robinhood. Arrows that are shot from a bow flies through the air. The path leads to the archery range. A place to learn and improve archery skills.

In the spring time, water cascades over the buried rocks. Then plants form and bring new life. They change the scene. When you except Jesus into your life, the Holy Spirit cascades through your body. The seed or Word of God grows and brings new life that changes the scene.

At Camp Hickory Hill, during summer camp, the pavilion is a place for morning meetings. A place where a large group of people can start their day with the focus on God. A place for communication for the days activities. A place for praise and worship and Bible exploration. Sometimes , it is a quiet place were one can think and pray.

The windmill sometimes stands still. Most of the time, the windmill is in motion. Most of the time, we move in God's spirit. Sometimes, we stand still in God's spirit. The time of stillness is the time to reflect, study and meditate on the word of the Lord. Then it's time to put into motion God's spirit.

God has a dinning hall with many activities that goes on through the day. The fellowship, both inside and outside the building, surrounds the God center camp. During summer camp and other activities, the dinning hall is the first place that people arrive to. When it is time to leave, the dinning hall is the building they exit.

This side of the dinning hall is the side that everyone sees. The camp's road and parking lot are on this side. Except for campers walking by, and going in and out of the building, this side is hardly used. The action is on the inside of the dinning hall and the side of the hill.

Camp Hickory Hill was built on a hill. This hill (from bottom to top) goes up from the soccer field to the dinning hall. In winter, this hill is used for sledding, while in summer, this hill is sometimes used for a water slide.
