I watched this episode of Game Grumps and it reminded me of some lil ones I know.
AU where no one is dead or sad or possessed, and Frisk and Chara are just weird twins who run a let’s play channel with games entirely inappropriate for their ages
Keeping their eye on Sans, they tried to at least act like they weren’t staring directly at him. Any time he looked their way, they would move their attention over to the dogs before glancing back at him. But when they looked back he was gone. Chara smacked their palm on the table top, back tensing and eyes darting around to find him. He wasn’t anywhere. Shit. Just as they were considering what to do about that, Sans reappeared. Their tension faded, but they knew that wasn’t a good sign. He must have done something. Maybe it was something to do with what he was so protective over. If it was that important to him, they were really curious now. That book… What was it to him? Something with sentimental value? Or something with more information he didn’t want them to get their hands on? Well, they were determined to drag whatever they could out of him regardless of that book’s presence.
They hid all their thoughts as usual with a friendly, “Thank you.” Picking up the warm mug, they took a slow sip. Their eyes fell shut automatically, body relaxing at the sweet warmth of it. It had been so long since they last had anything chocolate. It was so good. They didn’t mean to let their guard down so much though, letting out a far too obviously pleased hum. They paused, then put the mug back down, trying not to show any embarrassment. “... It's good... Anyways,” time to bring the subject back around to their interest. "You mentioned Alphys earlier. I thought she hadn't seen anyone in a long time."
It was a good thing he was quick because they immediately tried going for it. They wanted to know. Know information that they could use against him. His face threatened to betray his fear, but he widened the smile instead. He merely chuckled pressing them back down into the seat very gently. “heh. it’s two drinks. i may be a skeleton but i won’t let ‘em go right through me.” With that he pulled away and watched him. He kind of expected him to hurt him which he would honestly deserve.
Chara wanted to insist but they knew if they pushed much more then that would only do more harm than good. So they sat back down like he wanted, and nodded again, bordering complacency. "Alright then, whatever you say..." They weren't sure if him forcing the smile bigger was a good sign or not. Clearly he was afraid, which was already working in their favour, but when someone is cornered and pressured too much they could lash out somehow. At least if they let him cool down, they knew they could probably push him safely again when he got back. If he came back. He wouldn't actually run away, would he? No, not when he didn't trust them and there were so many innocents around.
"Then, could I have a hot chocolate?"
Now he was stuttering even more. He’d messed up. Big time. The kid knew and he didn’t know yet if they were the good or bad kind. This was not right. He shouldn’t let himself talk anymore, but it spilled out anyway. “o-oh.. those.. um.. we-well.. i.. i know some stuff about that from dr alphys.. w-we are both science buds so she tells me about her experiments and all that.. sometimes..” He was very obviously lying through his teeth but he didn’t care. When he shifted slightly, his journal peeked out of his jacket and he pushed it back in quickly hoping that the kid wouldn’t see or notice. But this one was quite perceptive and he knew that they saw it. They couldn’t read what was inside. If they found out what he knew, they could use it against him. He couldn’t let that happen.
So he stood telling them. “i’m gonna go get us some drinks. want anything?” He was perspiring very obviously.
