well. mental health update: guess who is taking off time from grad school despite only having one class left? (the burnout from it all is. genuinely real bad.)
i was just going to take about 2.5 months since that's roughly the time between terms but by the time i'd go back, it'd be the holidays and i have family stuff going on then, etc... so i just figured i'd take the extra time and spend time with family and go back in january once this term is over.
honestly i'm not fully sure if i'm making the right decision to step away for so long but my advisor said she thinks i genuinely do need this break based on our talks and that she thinks i'm gonna be fine once i take some time to breathe and rejuvenate. also she told me im a very smart girl and i went :D (<- woman who is bullshitting her way through life but thanks!!!)
anyway. yay time to heal i guess?
#rbing this one over here real quick since its technically a life update too haha#also relevant tag for this blog ->#and with that... more writing time? maybe i can finally get my longer fics written#<- since id like to work on my fics. its just been... hard i guess.#like i said in the post: im already feeling the burnout really bad Now#and i think once i finish these two courses the time im gonna take for myself will be very very nice#im sure if i change my mind and decide to go through with starting in november i have plenty of time to email about that#but i def need at least One term to relax before i get to the point of another mental breakdown#which was notttt a very fun part of undergrad btw!!! it was terrible!!!! i had to go to therapy as mandated by the school :p#and that guy SUCKED!!!!#anyway!!! hopefully i can come back and write more soon i just. i need a little time. thank you for being patient with me.

actually ill share a little bit of cheol fic haha
For a while, he’d floated. His undergraduate years came and went. He entered into the workforce for a while. He dated. He made new friends. He figured out who he was a little more with each passing day, and realized that he would never actually stop. That his parents were the same way, actually: every single day, they continued to grow. The lens would never be completely clear, not for a long time at least. But he liked figuring out who he was as a person. Even without you there at his side… he liked the person he was becoming.
One day, the answer just hit him. He wasn’t done learning yet. One of his coworkers had been talking about graduate school and their own degree, and it was like the world became a little brighter. So he put himself to work: researching, finding a program that fit him, applying…
And now he was back on campus, a student all over again. Several of his friends were also starting their own adventure back into education (Jeonghan and Jihoon had both taken a break after undergraduate: Jeonghan because he wasn’t in any rush, and Jihoon because he needed to breathe for a bit before he burned himself out—something he admitted his neighbor always worried about when it came to him). He’d been momentarily blinded by the brightness of his own future as he began to walk forward, immediately running straight into someone.
“Shit—”
“I’m sorry, I—”
And there you were. You’d been scrambling to collect the contents of your bag, which had jostled and spilled when he bumped into you. For a moment, he yearned to hold you for a moment. To hug you tight and apologize for letting your friendship evaporate so easily, especially after you told him about your worries before graduating high school. Instead, he just quickly dropped down to help you gather your things, hands brushing against hands.
“... I missed you.”
He looked up, noticing the flustered look on your face. You refused to meet his eyes, instead quietly thanking him as you began to shove your belongings back into your bag, but he knew he hadn’t imagined it no matter how much you probably wished he had. He slowly stood back up, offering his hands to you. Your hands were warm in his own, and slowly you stood back up, careful not to knock your bag too hard lest you caused a repeat of the whole debacle.
“I missed you, too.” He smiled at you, taking in the sight of you now that you were face to face again.
You had grown. Your clothing sense changed a bit from when he last saw you, that much was certain, into something that seemed to fit you much more than before. Where he used to see endless anxiety in your eyes was now something that was a little cozier. Still anxious—you once told him that it would never fully go away, not really—but more okay with it all. Life had changed you. He just had to wonder how much and if you’d tell him those stories or be a passing ship in his life. He hoped for the former.
Suddenly, a lot of things began to make sense as he looked at you again. Was this fate being kind to him…? Seungcheol wasn’t sure how much he believed in it, but this moment alone could make a believer out of him.
“Do you go here?” You gestured toward the campus vaguely. “I know some of the programs here are pretty competitive, so… It made me think of you.”
“I do. Do you?” He started toward where he knew his building was, slow enough that you could fall into step with him.
And you did. Just like old times. “I do! It was hard,” your hand brushed against his own for a moment. “But… I eventually got in. I…” You stopped for just a moment, clearing your throat. “I’m sorry. I should have tried harder to keep in touch with you, but—”
Seungcheol shook his head. “Let’s not worry about that now. It’s my fault, too.” He turned to face you. “I… I have class soon,” he jerked a thumb over his shoulder, “but my friends and I are meeting up off campus. If you want… you could come meet them?”
Please don’t fall in love with either of them, he wanted to tag on. They’re great. But please don’t fall in love with them.
#wooahaes.txt#out of order section btw i thought abt posting the beginning since its cute#its a childhood friends -> lovers fic btw

pairing: non-idol!bang chan x gn!reader
genre: fluff. established relationship.
warnings: n/a really, just silly gamer fun + reader being kinda intense about gaming sometimes
word count: 0.9k~
daisy's notes: i have not evolved to stardew spreadsheets yet. i feel like it'll come eventually, but not yet.

“This is nice, yeah?”
Chris sat at his own laptop as his character chased you around your farm, watching as you watered crops for the two of you. In a minute, he’d head off to the mines for the day, but he liked watching you work. You’d played this game for years, racked up hundreds of hours, and so when he asked if the two of you could start your own farm together while you were home recovering from being sick on your birthday… It had put the light back into your eyes immediately. The two of you had takeout for an early dinner, and now you were working on your little farm together.
“It is,” you hummed. “I’ll keep working on the ocean fish bundle, by the way. It’s a good luck day, so you should be able to make it maybe another ten levels in the mines if you keep at it? I left some salads in a chest for you to take.”
Okay, and maybe he was realizing just how intense you were about this whole thing. To be fair, he knew how serious you were about games. Felix had introduced you to him forever ago as one of his gaming buddies, and even then he’d been exposed to the fact that sometimes you would make spreadsheets for things. He’d seen your sims legacy challenge and both the family tree and the spreadsheet attached to it. Felix had teased him about it once, saying that you were serious about things sometimes… and yet Chris found himself falling harder for you and your passions more and more over time. The fact that you liked him back was what surprised him, only to find out that the reverse was true for you.
“I mean… You’re you,” was what you had said to him, visibly a little nervous. “You’re cute, you’re funny, you’re incredibly talented… It’s kinda crazy that you’re into me and my dorky… everything, I guess.”
Well, your dork stuff was what endeared him to you in the beginning. And he knew that now, playing this game with you, that you were holding back on how intense you really could be. If he didn’t make it through those ten levels in the mines, you wouldn’t care at all. You hadn’t before, saying that your intensity was what was fun for you. If he enjoyed taking it easy, then you wouldn’t push—although you did know how he could get while playing Genshin, purely from witnessing it yourself. Completing the bundles in this game was really the only thing you did get intense over. The farm you two shared didn’t have any sort of cohesion to it, mainly because it was still early game and the two of you had plans to map it out later once you had the funds to do whatever you wanted with it.
Chris just smiled at you for a moment, watching as you ran your little character off the farm to begin working toward your goal. “Hey.”
“Mhm?”
“You’re cute.” He giggled. “Can I come fish with you instead?”
You glanced up, smiling. “You can always come fish with me if you want. I’ll be on the docks.”
He set off after you after dumping his supplies into a chest to get his fishing gear instead, setting down a sign on his way off the farm. Through idle chatter, the two of you sat at the beach, fishing up ocean fish until you were out of stamina and food and space to keep your fish in your inventory. He followed your character back through the town, checking trash cans the entire way back. He saw the look of confusion cross your face, listened to the way you muttered under your breath as you read the text aloud…
“What do you mean ‘go check our bed’?” You looked up. “Chris?”
“Throw your fish in and go to bed,” he said. “And then go look.”
You did as prompted. The moment the two of you had your characters in bed and the earnings screen popped up, he watched as you stood, making your way to your bedroom. Barely a minute later, you had returned to him, clutching a wrapped book in your hands.
“Christopher, you didn’t.”
He giggled, watching you. “You love this game!”
“I know! But–” You’d already begun tearing off the wrapping paper to reveal the very cookbook you’d talked about wanting for the past few months, only to debate with yourself over whether you’d actually cook something from it. “Chris…” You pouted at him. “You’re sweet.”
He opened an arm out to you, letting you sit on his lap for a moment. He wrapped his arms around you, happily settling in. “It’s your birthday! I couldn’t just get you nothing—I got you a shirt, too, but it got delayed.”
You pouted at him again, wrapping an arm around him as you leaned against him. “I’ll look through it later and see what looks good.” And then you turned, kissing him on the cheek. “And you didn’t have to get me anything, you know. I was happy just playing games with you.”
“Well.” He hooked his arms around your waist. “Now you get me and a cookbook… and a new shirt in a few days.”
Setting the book aside, you turned, fingers underneath his chin so that you could guide him into a proper kiss this time. When you drew back, you just smiled at him again. “I love you. You’re—you’re adorable, you big dork.” “And I’m yours,” he giggled. “Happy birthday, baby.”

i just want it simple

pairing: non-idol!woozi x gn!reader
genre: fluff. established relationship.
warnings: n/a? sweetheart jihoonie.
word count: 1.0k~
daisy's notes: he rly says 'i love you. here's a chair with lumbar support.'

Jihoon’s newest project had been a secret to you, and… frankly, you weren’t exactly sure why. His little office space was already something that you never entered: he had everything set up the way he liked it, and he’d always told you that he would make room for you if you needed it. And, sure, maybe you did need it, but considering the two of you didn’t have any other roommates, the dinner table was a fine enough office space when you needed it to be. But for the past few weeks, Jihoon had asked that you avoid the room entirely—no peeking in, just because he was working on something more confidential at work and needed the promise of security.
You didn’t question it, though. You spent most of your working hours actually at your job nowadays, so the apartment was left entirely to him then anyway. But it did mean that you made sure you knocked and stepped away if you needed an extra pair of hands for any reason—whether that be to help you fold laundry or with dinner or just moving the couch back an inch or so whenever you expected company like mister long-legged Kim Mingyu. He’d always sheepishly apologized for taking up so much room when he came over for game nights, but you’d waved him off. Mingyu could just help you move it back, but you liked having it pushed back before your friends arrived.
Until now. Jihoon had held out a blindfold to you when you came home. “Happy birthday,” he said quietly. “I want to show you something.” Then a quiet pause. “Two somethings, actually.”
Jihoon simply didn’t do surprises often. That was something you always appreciated about him: the most he ever really did was surprise you with a little trinket or treat he picked up while he was out, or sometimes with dinner on the nights you were supposed to cook but needed the break instead. Jihoon’s surprises were always something subtle, something that told you he was listening and paying attention to you. So you donned the blindfold, ready to see what he had waiting for you.
You knew the layout of your apartment well enough to know he’d brought you straight to his office. He rolled his chair back, gently guiding you down to sit in it before he reached past you to mess around on his computer.
“I wrote you a song.” He said, plain as day. “Since I’ve been able to make more music lately… I finally finished it last night.”
Jihoon had told you that he was writing you a song over a year ago. It’d been a casual little remark, just something to tell you about while eating lunch together one day. Every so often, you’d ask about it, just to see if he made progress on it. Sometimes he did, sometimes he didn’t: work got in the way, as did everything else in life in different ways. But he always promised that he would show it to you as soon as he could. Holding out almost an entire day, though, surprised you. He’d always been excited to show you his work, to show off the songs he composed and either sung himself or brought one of his very talented friends in to record for it.
He clamped the headphones over your ears, and tapped a key, and you were met with this soft, sweet melody before the warm voice of Jihoon. All you did for the next few minutes was listen to the tender lyrics as he sang about his love for you, how you were his happiness. His baby. All of the things that you were sure Jihoon would turn red if he had to say out loud, especially if anyone else was around to hear it, but the things he would always want you to hear.
You slowly removed the headphones, still blindfolded as you turned to hopefully find Jihoon. Your hand bumped into his side, and he took it within his own. “That was beautiful, Jihoon” you said. “I… might need a minute to pull my thoughts together.” A second later, you tacked on, “... And the other thing?”
“Hold on.” He let go of your hand, rolling your chair a little forward and turning you away from where his computer was sitting. “You can take it off.”
So you did. And immediately, Jihoon’s project became apparent. He’d moved things around, setting up a workspace for you on the opposite side of the room. A desk, your work laptop, and anything and everything you would need to work comfortably. Where did he find the time to buy you a desk and put it together…? Or the nice desk chair he’d bought you. You set aside his headphones, walking over to pull the chair out and sit in it. It provided you far better back support than the chair you had at work, and that was something the company prided itself on paying for.
“How did you—”
“I got a promotion,” he said quietly. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. But… They gave me an actual office, so I don’t have to keep some of my work documents here anymore—and, um, a nicer desk, so I could put some of the things you bought me on it…” He scratched his cheek nervously. “I was going to tell you, but… I was talking to Seungcheol, and I mentioned I wanted to give you space here, and he said he’d help me keep it a secret so I could surprise you.”
The urge to cry welled up within your chest, and you stood, making your way over to pull him into your arms. You hugged him tight, shutting your eyes for a moment. “It’s perfect. Thank you.”
“I—I, um…” He was blushing, and you could feel that heat radiating off of his face. “I like our dinner table, but… I think you deserve something better for you if you have to sit. Cheol helped me compare chairs, and…”
You just kissed him instead. “I love it. I love you.” You blinked back tears. When was the last time someone went through so much effort for you…?
“Happy birthday,” he said quietly. “I’m glad you like it.”
All you could do was just kiss him one more time. If you were his happiness… then he was yours, too.

pairing: non-idol!hoshi x gn!reader
genre: fluff. established relationship.
warnings: mentions of reader struggling with health problems and falling asleep (to the point of taking medication to help with it). reader heavily implied to have anxiety.
word count: 1.2k~
daisy's notes: yeah this ones. a little more about me than the others i think lol

Soonyoung was quiet as he left his apartment that night, the only sign that someone else had been awake being the tell-tale sounds of Jihoon’s late night work. Maybe his roommate had looked up for a moment, waving to him while Soonyoung was more focused on getting out quietly, but he’d think more about that later. Instead, he made his way to the stairwell, making his way outside as quickly as he could without waking anyone up. It was late, there were other people in this complex, and the least he could do is make his little getaway as quiet as possible. He gripped his keys in one hand, the other carrying his luggage, and soon enough he emerged out into the parking lot to get to his car. He climbed in, started the ignition, and finally breathed for the first time since he left his room.
Step one done. Step two… drive to your apartment.
It wasn’t the first time Soonyoung had made a late night drive over to your place—and not for sexy reasons, as Seungcheol liked to tease him about. This past year, things had changed in your life, in your body itself actually. He’d been there every step of the way, holding your hand in doctor’s appointments that made you so, so deeply anxious. Blood tests, results, and then another blood test months later to see if your medication was doing anything for you… He didn’t blame you when you struggled to sleep, part of it related to your diagnosis. So sometimes you would just call or text him, telling him it was happening again, and he would come to your place without complaint. He’d climb into bed with you, and hold you while the sleeping pills kicked in, just to give you a little more reassurance that someone would be there in case something went wrong.
It never did. But as long as you needed that kind of thing to be at ease, he would always come running to give you that peace to sleep with. That’s what love was for, right?
The bright side, however, was that this wasn’t a call for him to come cuddle with you. This wasn’t a nightmare call, or even the rare “I’m hungry, please come eat snacks with me and then cuddle” call that he honestly lived for—this was his way of surprising you once the clock ticked over to midnight. The two of you were going to meet in the morning anyway to travel to Jeju for a long weekend together, but wouldn’t it just be easier for him to surprise you now? To leave together in the morning, rather than him picking you up? He smiled to himself as he came to a red light, fingers drumming against the steering wheel.
His phone buzzed. One glance at it told him that Jihoon had been awake and had seen him. Have a nice trip. Tell them I said happy birthday. And then a sum of money that Jihoon sent to Soonyoung rather than you, purely because there was no clear way of telling if you were awake or not now. He’d show it to you later and transfer it over. He shot back a quick thumbs up in response, right before the light changed and he dropped his phone back into the cupholder.
The drive to your apartment didn’t take that long on most days. Sometimes traffic could be rough, but something had to be smiling down on him tonight as the roads were clear and he could just focus on driving to you… and maybe a little on the song playing over his radio right now. He enjoyed his little karaoke session, even if the power ballad left him more tired than before, and he switched lanes as he grew closer to your building.
Eventually, he parked and made his way inside. He left his luggage there—he had spare clothes and toiletries at your place already, and there was no reason to drag his bag up there at this time of night. If you needed it for some reason (maybe to stash extra toiletries or something?), he’d just bring it up once the sun was up. Instead, he just bopped his head to the song inside of it as he waited for the elevator, fighting back the smile on his face. The doors opened, he stepped in, and with one button press he was whisked away to your floor.
Truth be told, he was excited for this little vacation with you. He liked getting to travel with you no matter where the two of you went, and this birthday trip was exactly what you deserved after all of your health concerns kept you on edge for so long. The medical field in general already caused you plenty of anxiety, having real problems that were getting addressed only made you more nervous. That was why he proposed this trip to begin with. Seungkwan had mentioned something about taking a little vacation for himself with his partner a few months ago, saying that it was something that both of them needed for different reasons. So he threw the idea out to you, and it kept being put off. Another doctor's visit, a new medication to try, a new blood test to be run… but things had finally settled last month. So when he suggested going to Jeju for your birthday, you’d latched onto the idea immediately.
“You could use the break,” was what you said in response. “And I think maybe going to the beach would be nice for me, too.”
There was something sweet about the way you thought of his own health and stress, especially considering he’d told you about work getting to him. But he’d taken your face into his hands for a moment. “This is about you,” he’d said point blank. “Do you want to go? We can pick somewhere else if you do.”
Something about it had made you melt. “I’d like to go,” you said after a moment. “For both of us.”
The elevator doors slid open, and Soonyoung stepped out. It was easy enough to get into your apartment, since Soonyoung both knew the code and had a spare key in case he ever needed it, and he made sure to be as quiet as he could. He slipped out of his shoes and into his house slippers, stopping to turn off the light in the kitchen. You always did have the habit of forgetting to turn it off. Your cat rubbed against his legs as he stopped, crouching down to pet her behind the ears before he made his way to your room.
To his surprise, you’d actually been asleep. Not for long, unfortunately, but he’d hold you as long as you needed for you to fall back asleep. Soonyoung made his way over to the other side of your bed, abandoning his slippers as he crawled in, gently nudging you awake. With a yawn, you roused, turning to look at him in the low light.
“... Soonie?” Your voice was hoarse and quiet, and you rubbed at your eyes. “What time is it…?”
“Not time to get up,” he giggled, crawling under the blankets with you. “Happy birthday.”
You turned over, already nestling into his arms to fall back asleep. “Mmhm… happy birthday...”
Soonyoung just giggled again. He just settled in with you as you fell back asleep in his arms all too quickly. He’d just have to try again in the morning.

daisy's notes: i wish i had someone to surprise me with breakfast lol

The last thing you expected to smell when you woke up that morning was breakfast being cooked. Your roommate, Seungmin, rarely cooked as it was—he handled other chores to make the arrangement fair, and the two of you did eat your fair amount of takeout on the nights neither of you felt like cooking at all—but it was your birthday… and he did imply that there’d be a surprise waiting for you in the morning. You had assumed it’d be like last year, where he left a cupcake on the counter for you before he had to race off to work… but breakfast was actually a lot nicer. So you rolled out of bed, and started getting ready for the day.
A few minutes later, Seungmin knocked at your door. “I’m leaving!” He called through it, and didn’t give you a chance to respond before he took off, footsteps heavy against the wooden floorboards.
You rolled your eyes a little at it. He didn’t even give you the chance to thank him. You’d just have to text him a bit once you knew he was on his bus to work. No matter: breakfast alone wasn’t a new thing in your life, even if it was something you hadn’t dealt with in a while. If there wasn’t Seungmin, then there was Felix, either cooking for you or treating you out so that he could see you for a little bit. Sometimes one of Felix’s close friends, Changbin, too: usually when Felix was abroad for work, Changbin (or Chris, if he was available) was dragging you somewhere to make up for your boyfriend’s absence.
With a sigh, you opened the door, making your way straight to the bathroom to wash your face. Only the sound of someone moving about your apartment caught your attention, and you slowed to a stop.
Felix paused, looking up from setting the table with a smile. “Good morning,” he giggled. “I missed you—”
Immediately, you launched yourself at him, making it to him within seconds before you threw your arms around him and hugged him tight. “I thought you were in Paris.”
“I… might have lied about when my flight back was,” he said. “It was Seungmin’s idea—”
“No, it wasn’t.” You breathed in the scent of his cologne, eyes falling shut for a moment as you just squeezed him tight. Felix was sweet, but you knew about his playful side as much as anyone did. Seungmin might have encouraged the idea of surprising you… but the idea had to be Felix’s.
He held you, swaying in place. “Are you mad?”
To be honest… you could have been. It was a lie that he’d only be able to call you on your birthday, and you had been upset over the idea of not seeing him until tomorrow morning. All he had told you was that his flight back would have been today, and he might not have been awake enough to come see you unless Changbin dropped him off at your apartment building. It would have been late, past midnight, and you’d told him to take care of himself first. His health was more important than him pushing himself to see you.
But you weren’t. Not when he had made you breakfast and smiled at you so radiantly, so clearly proud of being able to surprise you in a way that he knew you wouldn’t mind. Showing up to your apartment with every single person you knew was always off the table… but Felix showing up? A fully welcome surprise, even if he had to fudge some details to do it.
“No, I’m not mad,” you finally said out loud, and he relaxed against you. “God, I should have known Seungmin wouldn’t cook me breakfast. Especially when he has to work…”
Felix laughed, “I think he would if you needed him to.” He wiggled out of your grasp, taking your face into his hands so that he could plant a quick kiss on you. “I’ll finish plating everything so we can eat. And then… I’m yours for the day, yeah? I bought you something in Paris, by the way, but I left it at my place.”
“Did you sleep?” You frowned at him, studying his face. “I’m glad you’re here, baby, but if you need to rest…”
Felix took your hand in his own, pressing another kiss against your knuckles. “I went straight home. Changbin practically had to carry me to bed… but I’m good. I’m awake now. If I need a nap later, I’ll let you know, alright?”
With a quick peck against his lips, you parted from him to go wash your face. “As long as you mean it. I wouldn’t mind a nap with you later anyway.”
He caught you by the hand, though, just so you would turn and face him again as he smiled at you. “Hey. Happy birthday. I love you.”
And the world seemed a little brighter now. “I love you, too, silly. I’m glad you’re here.”
