Task tracker 2.0

New improved task tracker interface allows managing tasks progress effortlessly. You wouldn’t need to think how to deal with all the things need to be done in the project - just open WorkMate and start working right away.

Contact list 2.0

Managing your team has become easier with our renewed contact list. In just a few clicks you can create a great contact list, add photos, e-mails and phone numbers of all the team members. You can find it in our Addon Store.

Search

You don’t need to think where exactly was that file or info. Just use our Search, and you’d instantly find anything you’ve been looking for. Need to search in a certain project only? Just click on it and use the search tool.

Interface 2.0

Our Interface has become even more clear, clean and useful. From the first release Workmate had the easiest user-friendly interface you can possibly find in a project management platform. In the new version we’ve made it even more beautiful and functional, still keeping it not too complex for the users.

Sync

You can find two new features in the Addon Store: syncing with Dropbox and Google Drive. With those features you can easily sync your files and never think about where are they stored in each project again.

Mobile (beta)

We make sure you always have access to your project, even if you are away from the computer. From the first launch you had an opportunity to participate in discussions responding to Workmate via e-mail. Now we’ve added a mobile version, so you could view the notes or discussions from your cell phone. Check out: workmateapp.com/mobile

      Hello. We got much feedback from our users. Some of you asked us to make an ability to create “departments” in projects so that you could cut the information you don’t need and concentrate on your own tasks. Also we noticed, that many of you liked our “Public project” add-on, that makes your project accessible for outside spectators. So, here are our new features.

      Groups.

      What is it? These are groups of project members. It can be departments: sales, developers, project managers. Or it can be other groups, if members in them joined to solve a problem or to achieve their own goal.

      What for can you use it? Groups allow you to manage privacy. For example, you can:

protect your client against information he doesn’t need,

protect sales department against development problems.

Groups are a universal tool for privacy management.

      How it works?

You can manage groups on “Project members” page, and after that you can manage privacy of every discussion or note.

     In addition, “Groups” is our first Paid add-on, so you have to have a credit card to use it.

      Public project. It was: if users wanted to participate in public project, they were added as "subscribers" and had less opportunity to change something in project. Now, with groups, they are also known as "subscribers", but this is just a name of the group. And they are full members of project, so they have an opportunity to create notes and discussions. Additionally, you can create private discussions or notes, that wouldn't be visible for subscribers.

      Paid Add-ons. Today there becomes a first Paid Add-on in Workmate, so I wanted to introduce you our payments system.

     Paid Add-ons can be installed to a project or uninstalled only by project Administrator. So he is the one who has to pay for them.

     If you install a paid add-on, you will be billed for it after 30 days. If you uninstall, reinstall, and maybe uninstall it again, you will be charged only for the days, when you had this add-on installed.

      Notifications. We totally rebuilt notifications, fixed bugs, and now they work properly and they have a new design.

      What’s next. Of course there we made many bug fixes and added some cosmetics. In few days we will decide the new functionality we are going to add in new release, so don't be shy to share your ideas on workmate.uservoice.com.

Choose soft as an alternative.

The same, but different

     Have you ever been in such situations:

You've been enjoying software, and it suddenly became expensive 

You're tired of crappy program, it irritates you

You've just bought new hardware, and realized, that your software is not supported on it

     I'd like to share a nice web-site. There you can find an alternative for every program you use. Simple search system and product information allows to create a list of sofware to replace the old one. After that you can test every product, choose the best, "like" it and become happy. Welcome to AlternativeTo, you can find almost 16K products there.

     If you are developing your own software, this service can be really useful, because you get "warm" leads from there. And trafic is stable. Workmate is already on AlternativeTo and you can "like" it.

Web collaboration: "All in one window" or "One window - one service"

I heard this thing one day

     “Every web-tool must be focused on one function, that's the only way for them to be succesful and useful".

     Against that thought there is an "All in one window" concept.       Now we will try to search pros and cons for these different opinions in connect to cloud collaboration tools.

     One problem - one web-tool:

Pros:

Rich variety of services. In a deep sea of internet there is a huge number of tools for every occasion: from auto formatting of text-documents to group coin-tossing.

Concentration of vendors on tuning the only function often leads to higher quality of service.

Cons:

No integration. Integration of special services is really rear in the web.

Too much logins and passwords. This problem is different for everyone: someone forgets the passwords ans someone use only one password but gets annoyed of that registration and signing in.

Payment. If you use more than 5 paid web-services, your payments management may become a real pain: some of services charge you in the month beginning, some in th end, some of them need another pricing plan for more than 5 users, some for 10, and some even refuse to charge you by credit card and offer 50 more payment ways.

Interface. If your only need is group coin-tossing, web-servises are simple and perfect. But applications with rich functionality often require from 20 to 60 minutes to get involved in the interface.

     All web-tools in one window:

Pros:

One login, one interface, one bill.

Integration. Tasks can appear in the calendar and there is a button in the document you redact, and it finishes the task this document is attached to.

Dashboard for all the activity across different web-tools.

Cons:

Lack of functionality.

There are unnecessary tools in that window.

     Workmate is a platform for collaboration and it delivers all the functions in one window, so we implemented such ideas, as:

Opportunity to choose right tools and abandon the others.

Users can contact developers easy to make services better. 

Opportunity to suggest and vote for every new function.

One interface and payment system for all the services.

"Any business" collaboration system.

There is a big variety of new web-based tools for business collaboration, project management and task tracking. This make you free to choose the best one, but monetization of such services usually needs an acquisition of many customers. Trying to reach the bigger audience, vendors make their product more and more universal. As a result they offer the same system for grocery and photo-studio. That's how we get "any business" collaboration system. What's wrong here? We all need the same tools, such as discussions, task-tracker, recruiting, information storage, customer relationship management, etc.

The differences are in the details. These details make the business collaboration tool pleasant and convenient to use. For example, photo-studio needs an extra functionality (archive of photos) and need no unnecessary tools like vendors database export. The idea of Workmate is to create a huge tools base on the flexible platform, to let the customer easily build their own system for their particular business. We don't want to force you to choose yourself; we are going to create tips, ready-to-use toolboxes and examples of using them.

On our platform we want to have tools based on customer's needs, not only on our vision, so we are going to analyze business-processes in different types of companies and we need a dialogue. So if you want to tell a story of your business management, let me know on bulat@workmateapp.com.

Here is the list of changes:

Tasks.

You can sort tasks using tags. Don't forget to select tags posting the task!

Comment on tasks. Simply click 'View task' and make a comments!

Account. Not satisfied with Workmate? You can delete your account. We would very appreciate if you tell us why you deleted your account.

Comments. From now you can attach files to the comments.

Calendar. Have you ever thought about attaching tasks to the events? Now you can do it. You can attach as many tasks to the event as you want.

Private messages. No need to write an e-mail if you would like to ask a question any person in private. Write him a private message.

Hello,

We've released a new stable version of platform. Check out what's new!

Contacts. Manage your contacs! Create contact lists, tag and comment every contact, store the contact information. Simple but powerful contact manager. Find it in our Add-on Store.

Tasks. Tasks now got tags! And as you asked, now you will see which exact task you were clicking on e-mail or dashboard, because it's highlighted.

Discussions. From now you don't need to delete created discussion if you got misspelling or wrong formatting. Now you can preview the disscussion post and even format it in 15 minutes after creating.

Calendar. Now you can edit and even delete events in calendar. Also, enjoy new style of the add-on.

Notes. New feature allows you get a quick view of last changes in the note!

E-mail notifications. Just check out a new style.

New release: 11.12.2011

Good day, everyone!

We've released the new stable version of Workmate. Check out new improvements and features:

Security. We've enabled SSL-certificate. It means that all the information that's being sent between user and our server will be encrypted. Check for SSL icon in your browser.

Fonts. We've updated the fonts on the web-site - moved from PT Sans to Open Sans.

Discussions. We've improved discussions page. Now you can view how many comments discussion has and if there is any attachments available for download.

Projects management. Most updates are here. Here is the list:

Project owner can be changed from now. If you need to to do it right now, then simply go to Project > Settings and select new project.

You can leave any project any time. Go to project's dashboard and in right sidebar click "Leave project". Also, information about project members is now available on the project's dashboard.

Need to create a new project? Now you can access link to create a new project any time. It's available in left sidebar next to "My projects" title.

Contact information. We've improved user's page and user's settings. Now you can add your contact details and they will be displayed across all the projects. To set your contact details go to User settings > Profile and add contact details. To view contact details go to any project, click on project members in the top right corner, select person and voila: all available contact details will be published under user's avatar.

Notes, files. We've added ability to delete notes & files. We can't understand why we haven't done it since the beginning.

Good day & hello from Workmate! We're glad to announce new release of Workmate! As expected, it was on time & we're proud to announce you new features & improvements:

Platform notifications: now you won't miss next deploy to our server with new features;

If you try to add person to the project and this person doesn't have an account on workmate - we'll ask you if you would like to invite this person to the project. One click and we'll send an invitation;

We have new dashboard design: less space in history items;

New task tracker! Now you can assign task to the person, set estimation of the task, see requester of the task, edit task milestone, edit task progress. Isn't it nice?

Also, we've fixed couple bugs and platform is really stable now.

Welcome to Workmate!

Hello and very warm welcome from Workmate!

Workmate is the first ever collaboration platform, which can replace things like project management, CRM, time-tracking, group chat. The principle of the platform rather simple: the user logs in, creates a project, adds participants and they all are ready to work.

The most popular functional is ready “out of the box”: discussions, files sharing, notes with version control, task tracker for establishing and tracking tasks. The main feature of the system is that user can add any desired functionality in the project through extensions. Moreover, if the user needs some specific extension or the user is not entirely satisfied with the existing extension, then there is no difficulty to write his own extension through the API platform and easily integrate it with the workmate collaboration platform.

We are very proud to launch public alfa-version of the project. Hope you'll like it and you'll stay with us.
