Worms (not) in film: Raw [2016]
A visceral coming-of-age story of a vet-in-training, raised vegetarian, who tries meat for the first time.
Lots of movies with a theme of gore tend to have shots of rotting meat with maggots (often played by mealworms), but the meat in this movie was much too fresh to foster anything squirming. Actually there were no creepy crawling critters at all.
0/10, the only thing squirming was me in my seat.

Worms in film: ??? [200?]

This surreal film, while understandably controversial for its brutality, does hold some interesting filmmaking techniques, like the unexpected blending of stop-motion animation with live-action.
A late scene holds a special treat for those who have made it far enough: A small worm-like creature resting on the stairwell.
I don't remember the name of the film, but I can't look it up because it was really just a dream from the other night.
2/10, cool worm but did the rest of the movie really have to be like that...?

Worms in film: The Wild Robot [2024]

In this animated sci-fi, a humanoid helping robot washes up on a shore, eventually landing on the task of raising a baby gosling.
Fink the fox helps in the task by summoning up some beach-dwelling worms for the little guy to munch on. How kind!
4/10, I wonder what kind of worms these might be specifically.

Worms (not) in film: Phase IV [1974]

Phase IV is a science-fiction movie about a couple scientists investigating a colony of unusual ants, and the warfare they experience from them. It was graphic designer Saul Bass's only feature-length film.
Nice try buddy, but this movie is about ants, not any other creepy crawly, and definitely not worms!
0/10, get outta town if you want anything besides ants!! (and one mantis)
#worms not in film#phase iv#image described#ants#this movie was so pretty but also what was that. and also warning for a lot of bug death. ::-(

Worms in film: Habitat [1997]

Habitat is a science-fiction movie following the destruction of the Earth's ozone layer, and the accident a scientist working to enhance the environment sets off: turning his house into a localized mutating forest. And of course how this affects his teenage son.
I think at around 10 minutes, Hank is looking at a worm in a jar of green fluid, but the picture quality was so bad I'm not sure...?
0.5/10, ???
#worms in film#habitat#habitat 1997#worms#image described#this movie is not good but also i could only find it in really low quality. not enhancing the movie experience.

Worms in film: The Meaning of the Ritual [2009]
The Meaning of the Ritual is a song from Irish band Villagers' debut album. The lead member Conor O'Brien also made the music video for it, it looks like using sand and/or dry-erase marker.
I like the worm-like movements of the folds of the brain squirming out of the head!
2/10, wonderful song and music video.
#worms in film#the meaning of the ritual#villagers#worms#gif#image described#flashing gif#this album is really cool and i've been getting into more of their music lately...

Worms in film: Dandy Dust [1998]

^ tokin' it up lol
Dandy Dust is a surreal movie by trans filmmaker Hans Scheirl. It follows a cyborg named Dust who just got his memory stolen. She travels across planets, evading her family who is trying to capture him back. Most of the events involve sex.
While not really a worm, Dust called this mummy-like figure a glowworm. With all the wacky stuff happening in this movie, could've fooled me! Glowworms aren't actually a worm, but a larva, but i'll give a half point anyways.
0.5, an honourable worm mentioned.
#worms in film#dandy dust#glowworms#image described#shoutout to probably the only character ive ever met that uses pronouns interchangeably?!?!?!?#i love u dandy dust i hope you are thotting it up transgenderly in space.

Worms (not) in film: Yellow Submarine [1968]

Yellow Submarine is a wacky animated film following the classic band The Beatles saving the mythical Pepperland from an existence without music, which they do by rescuing their alternate universe selves.
Despite tons of zany creatures all over this movie, there are no worm-like creatures. I even thought this stripey fellow in the foreground here may be worm-like but it actually has a dinosaur-like build and 6 legs (still pretty cool). Props to them for having a few insects and snails elsewhere.
0/10, for a band with a bug-themed name, they continue to disappoint.

shlrrrrrp

Worms in television: Plasmo [1993]

Plasmo is an Australian stop-motion-animated series featuring a colourful cast of alien characters.
Episode 7, "Plasmo and the Bookworm", lands them in a library being eaten away by a literal worm! It's not healthy for the worm, as it complains of indigestion... poor thing.
4/10, yippee!!!!
#worms in film#plasmo#worms#image described#this was in my drafts i guess i forgot to post it. a special worm treat ^^__^^#only a 4/10 since there is one worm thruout the series. good worm tho.

Worms in film: The Night of the Hunter [1955]
This 50s film noir takes place along the Ohio River, where a little boy and his uncle enjoy fishing.
In one scene, a worm is seen on a fisherman's hook! (Seen in the middle of the photo against the car frame.) Ignore that other stuff in the water if you want.
2/10, finally a special worm treat for me.

Worms (not) in film: Ghost Story [1981]

Not to be confused with A Ghost Story from 2017, Ghost Story is a loose adaptation of the book of the same name by Peter Straub.
My twin read the book and we watched the movie together, but the general consensus is that it's not a great adaptation. The movie seems a bit muddled as well.
Despite themes of death, decay, rot, etc... not a worm to be seen! Are you kidding me?! Not even maggots like in the book (apparently). Or leeches because there's a prominent lake scene. Whatever.
0/10, come on!!
#worms not in film#ghost story#image described#whatever im gonna watch a movie set in space today so maybe there will be worms there <- delusional

Worms in film: The Babadook [2014]

At the end of this psychological horror film, the audience is treated to a scene of the mom and her son gardening peacefully. They plop the worms they find into a little dish of dirt.
The bowl is given to an unseen force that presumably eats them. Really cool if you're a creature, not so great for the worms. But, the cycle of life goes on!
9/10, look at all those critters! I love it, makes me think of something I would do as a kid. (But not the part where they are eaten.)

Worms in film: Little Otik [2000]

Otesánek (also called Little Otik or Greedy Guts) is something of a film adaptation of a fairy tale, in which a couple is unable to have a baby so they adopt a humanoid tree stump as a child. This movie mostly follows a child who is their neighbour and wants to see what's up with their mysterious baby.
I want to say the shiny light squiggle off to the left is a worm, but it doesn't move at all, so it might just be a piece of root or something. There are several shots of open earth so there's plenty of opportunities for worms to be somewhere.
0.5/10, dubious worm presence? well... maybe not.
