pure projection onto a character that fits it -- one of the most satisfying parts of being a masochist (to me) is having all the bruises and marks afterwards. i propose enver and/or durge yes has access to magical healing whenever they want -- and they'll probably use it, to minimise the more extreme wounds. but to make it all disappear completely would be kind of defeating the point, no?

Making the guardian look like Gortash did break me a lil bit when he told my Durge he'd protect him, but it also blessed me with yet another hc.
I do like to believe that they actually did protect each other. In a kinda fucked up way anyway.
Durge, no matter how you twist and turn it, is a demigod. The only people managed to kill Durge in a "You're dead and now stay dead" manner is well, Durge, Orin (fellow being with divine spark) and Bhaal. A literal god. So I'd like to assume that Durge is capable of physically protecting the tyrant, seeing how Durge is basically invincible and Gortash needed a bodyguard anyway.
Meanwhile, Gortash protected Durge's sanity. He protected the Bhaalspawn mentally. Because Durge is inherently chaotic, and Gortash is inherently organised and structured. So he probably helped Durge in that regard and protected Durge from themselves. He protected the two of them from the urge surfacing after finding out about it. I mean, he's ruthless enough, and Banite rituals require the sacrifice of an intelligent creature anyway.
They both made each other better. Its just that nobody ever said or claimed that would be better for their environment too if these people functioned properly.

ok but astarion getting durge to cazador pre-tadpole is so funny to me cause like 1) unknowingly poisoning your master and winding up free via luck is just the kind of falling upwards that fits this goofy ass leech and 2) its like letting in the Trojan Horse but instead of a bunch of soldiers it's a nuclear warhead in there
#3) interesting AU possibilities if this happens post-starting to work together with gorty boi#bg3 durge#astarion ancunin#durgestarion#bg3 fic#bg3 astarion

whether you prefer/interpret Enver Gortash as a dom/top or bottom/sub (or any other combinations therein), i think we can all agree that that man is a WHORE

thinking about how durgetash both have such fucked up relationships with their parent/s in such different ways.
Do you think Gortash flinches every time Durge refers to his Father -- the expectations, the commands, the punishments? Do you think Durge stares off into the distance sometimes completely misunderstanding what a mother is supposed to be? Neither know exactly what a gentle touch is. Neither had the chance to really be children, true children, that play and socialise and had peers. That kind of thing turns fingertips into claws.
And the wrenching away. The return and the revenge.
To Durge to be owned is to be loved. He looks at Gortash and thinks about flaying him open and crawling in and keeping a piece with him always, and instead of listening to Father and indulging, he trusts Enver to silence those wants. Days where his head is pounding and his fingers are itching and his throat thirsts for blood -- he crawls onto that lap as Enver lounges on his throne, and asks for peace. Shamelessly, ego laying still but twitching, he clears his head. And he submits.
Enver looks at Durge and doesn't know what to do about the fondness growing in his chest -- so he turns it into something pragmatic and actionable. Training obedience. Fostering trust. That's what he told himself. He can twist and mangle the situation as much as he wants but Enver knew what really was driving his hand every time. Drunk off of the power he holds over him, he chains up his happiness and vows never to let go. He would keep Durge at his hip, in his pocket, dragged along everywhere by a leash at all times if he could. To be needed by someone is the highest form of dominance over them, and never again will Enver ever be discarded.

i like the idea of durge being basically gortash's mercenary/an independent vigilante when they were working together to remake the Gate in their image. late nights returning to give his reports, bloodsplattered in the shadows. enver didn't know it then, but he was starting to take over that voice in his favourite assassin's head, telling him who and what to kill and when. with enver, killing was neither bad nor good, just another tool like a bribe or a press release. it took a little bit too long for durge to realise with enver, he felt a little less like an abandoned monstrous child and more like someone competent, in control, and most importantly -- complete.

Does DU drow find humor in bottoming for Asatrion?
Like that brick shithouse looks like he could take over in the bed at any moment
It'd be funny if Drow is just happily watch Astarion plow him and he's like 'that's cute, I can easily top that"
-im the new guy
Oh no, not at all. He's very earnestly into it. He's very genuinely turned on by Astarion roughening him up and manhandling him. He'll happily whine and cry out and blabber on and on throughout it's duration and get completely into the role he's playing. He loves putting this kind of trust into his partner's hands, he loves being reduced to a blubbering mess and handing control over to someone else. Astarion might be smaller in comparison but he's still a fully grown man with abs and delts for days, so I have no doubt in my mind that he can ram that hole into sloppy city as easily as he can survive a thirty foot drop.
If either of them contemplates on size differences during sex, it would be Astarion. Post their campaign dry-spell he becomes very into this rippling mass of murder that he gets to fuck silly whenever he feels like it. He thinks he is adorable.

i relate to enver because i too have selfish parents that readily choose their own short term gain in exchange for their childrens' futures again and again.
i relate to durge because i too have been told this is the natural way of our family, to eat each other, because our bloodline is special and it is blasphemy to want more than it.
