Sometimes when doing writing research you find a little factoid that isn’t right for tormenting YOUR blorbos, but it is PERFECT for tormenting a friend’s blorbos so you just drop the fact on their doorstep like a demented little present.

Why I love Shay:
Jared looks at her sympathetically and hands her tea. She waits until he has turned his back and pours three energy shots into the mug. Bennett snorts. She makes direct eye contact while downing a third of the concoction.
“If I’m gonna be awake right now, I’m making it everyone else’s problem.”

i love characters who do the “i worship the myth i make of you” and in turn dehumanize and get wrong the object of their devotion and love. yes project a thing that does not exist onto a pedestal and kneel at it like it is your altar. this will surely not blow up in both of your faces eventually

"I did it for you" has gotta be my favorite form of betrayal. You gave me a gift I never asked for, and now I have to look around at the world you destroyed with the knowledge that it was gift wrapped and addressed to me.

Be proud of your own art.
Listen to your own songs. Hang up your own drawings and look at them every day. Read over the best passage of your novel 16 times and admire your favourite sentence again and again.
You are your own first fan, you have created something beautiful, so enjoy it

I love a character raised to be a weapon as much as the next guy. But what really gets me is a character raised to be a shield. Who can’t fathom being needed—or even being wanted— beyond keeping others safe. Who believe they are alive only to insure someone doesn’t die. no matter the cost. Characters who self-sacrifice not because they think they deserve it, but because no one else does deserve it, and it’s their job to protect.
Characters who’ve been told that’s why your important. Your worth something because this other person/ thing is important, and you are here solely to keep them safe.
Bonus points if it’s not a legitimate job they’ve been given. Maybe at one point it was, but now that they are free from it, they haven’t given up that mentality. No one is forcing or asking them to do this, but they need to. They need to in order to be deserving.

I’m sad to lose the official NaNoWriMo, not because I supported what they became, but because this challenge was what got me and so many other people into creative writing
In fifth grade, we were told to try completing NaNoWriMo. I only wrote a few chapters and the premise was very similar to a popular book at the time, but it got my foot in the door. I tried again
A decade later, I started what became my first complete novel draft. I’m hoping to query agents as soon as my health allows it
Writing a novel in a month alongside so many people who cheer each other on is an incredible idea. I’m crossing my fingers that something more responsible takes its place. There were so many November writing challenges in 2024; I hope this sort of idea lives on
So Nanowrimo is functionally dead
Been a while since I used this account. Honestly, there has been nothing to say. November came and went and it was a bunch of sponsor run events. It seemed like Nanowrimo had already died in the fire, and it’d been revived as a shambling corporate zombie.
Tumblr media
The Zendesk went down today. With the Nanowrimo Facebook account now redirecting people to the Zendesk, there is no way to contact support, apart from emailing (which has not received any recent responses)
The socials are dead. Nothing is being approved.
Oh, and they forgot to renew their charitable status, which means they legally can’t accept donations.
(They still are)
Unless something changes, my last post will probably be when Nano goes offline.
I can’t say I’m mad about this. Only about the lack of accountability for any of the leadership in this mess.
